I will start out by stating that the pay is pretty good for a social work job, especially considering that most of the social workers there only have their bachelor’s degree and LSW license. The benefits are decent and you will meet some really great people working there who genuinely care about the patients. You also learn a lot while dealing with all the different patients and their circumstances. However, these positives are outweighed by the following negatives, in my opinion. 
All employees are indirectly encouraged to “spy” on other employees and “tattletale” about any mistake another employee makes to management. It is a very gossipy workplace overall.
The PTO policy is ridiculous. They take holidays out of your earned PTO hours, so you do not get to actually earn any vacation time/personal days until you have worked there a few months. It may be even harder to do so is if you have appointments or illness that affect your work attendance.
In the social work and case management department, your main focus is discharge planning for patients. That is a normal part of the job for social workers and RN case managers in a hospital, but it is made clear that you should not focus on anything else but patient discharges, even if it means some patient needs are getting ignored. The leadership staff have overly high expectations and unrealistic demands (especially in regards to the aforementioned discharge planning), combined with a lack of tangible support for the social workers and case managers they supervise.
Another problematic aspect of the social work/case management department is the pronounced absence of racial/ethnic diversity among staff and a general lack of awareness about non-white races and non-American or non-Western cultures.  Additionally, disrespectful attitudes towards people struggling with issues like homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness are pervasive in the social work/case management department.  
I cannot really speak to how things work throughout the entire organization of Centracare or in positions outside of a social work role. But it was not a positive experience for me and not a job that I would recommend to others seeking employment.

My job at Centracare started out like a dream come true; it was by far my most favorite job I've ever had.  This was largely due to my incredible coworkers who became family.  We would work tirelessly together, picking up each other's slack, as one unit for the 12 hours I was there.  The teamwork between all medical staff was absolutely phenomenal.  Not only were my coworkers amazing, but the job itself provided so many opportunities for me to grow and perfect my skills, along with giving me a platform to connect with my patients on a genuine level to give them optimum care.  I was thriving as a nurse, even on the hard days.  We were even getting very excited to move into the newly renovated area upstairs, as it would have better accommodations and more rooms to expand. 
 Unfortunately, my dream-come-true-job came to a sickening halt as of recent while in a morning meeting that would change the course of this beautiful place as we knew it.  We were informed about how in debt Centracare was, and were absolutely devastated to find out upper management would be not only cutting worker's hours drastically, but that we were decreasing the amount of staff on, along with completely getting rid of some key people to the success of Urgency Center.  Our family.  Here we were expanding, yet losing VERY important/vital aspects to our team, and expected to do triple the work.  Mind you, all these changes were laid out in front of us not even 3 weeks before they began. These cuts and changes were made behind our backs without any input from the people who actually run the facility, and have left us all severely understaffed to the point of risking patient and worker's safety.  I am immensely saddened that this family I have come to know and adore, who have helped me grow as a nurse and a person, are being ripped apart in a matter of weeks.  We continue to lose staff, even those who had secure jobs, due to the way this was carried out.
  My heart is heavy every time I step into another 12 hours of work. My once lively fellow nurses now room patients with red rimmed eyes, blank expressions, and broken spirits.  The quality of care for patient's has gone down, and I fear everyone's safety.  It's definitely a struggle to be there.

very poor training for new employees. everything is summed up in crash course lessons. poor communication in regards to training and skills, high expectations for new comers, with improper training from facility. 

to give a total score for Team work is a 0 out of 5. they preach about how everyone is apart of the team and needs to be a team player. since when is Team spelt with and I?

nursing staff is not helpful to coworkers, especially new comers. established employees would rather "snitch" and tell, rather than help out coworkers. 

management is poor and dishonest and untruthful. will tell you one thing and turn around and say the opposite at the same time. they do not stand by their original word. 

if you enjoy a work place that is full of backstabbers, snitches and brown-nosers, than this is the place for you.i would not recommend anyone to certain facilities within the cooperation. 
score rating is merely a 2% of the staff that are actually caring to help out co-workers. a pretty sad score for such a big cooperation. 

i would expect more from such a big growing company. i guess when you start getting greedy and big, you forget about the people on the bottom. for a facility that states they will work with you, a big fat lie. 

the best begins with me policy should be thrown out the door, and management needs training on how to come back down to earth and remember that everyone has to start from the bottom sometime. 

i guess in certain facilities within this organization , if brown looks good on your nose you'll fit right in. 

i think that the ceo's, presidents and higher personnel need to do some checking in on other management areas. surprise visits would be eye opening. management skills are very poor, and one sided. if you are not a part of the buddy system you wont fit in. sad situation for such a big company.

i guess when your become over-sized, you forget about how to treat people who are actually caring in their job roles and work very hard at giving 110% of themselves everyday they show up, while others are there only for a paycheck.

Management would like you to believe they care about everyone but that is the furthest thing from the truth. There is far too much to go over in a simple review. However, I will be touching on what I feel are the most pressing issues with this company. 

The first of these is wage discrepancy. Management discourages employees from talking about their wages with one another because there is such a large discrepancy between different employees in the same position ($6-11 difference). Employees have expressed their unease with this and do not follow these instructions.

The second issue would be understaffing. This facility is extremely understaffed and the turn-over rate is appalling, yet management doesn't seem to do anything about it (or communicate with each other at length at all). They do not put their aces in their places and expect a solution from slapping a proverbial bandaid over an infected wound. This causes staff to be spread extremely thin.

The third issue, which is a symptom of the second, is lack of proper training. Someone should not be training a new hire if they have not been trained for the position themselves, yet I've seen this happen constantly throughout my employment and have even had to do it myself. This is not only a detriment to the employee that is supposed to be recieving training, it's also bad for the company. 

These issues only touch the surface of the full problem. I would not recommend this employer to my family or friends. I have put a lot of time into this company because I liked my position and co-workers. When issues cropped up, I thought that it would get better with time but it's gotten so much worse. Save yourself the stress.

Sauk Centre Hospital's radiology department is a great group of people to work with.  All equipment is digital, and I love the variety of being able to work at a small hospital because we get to perform CT studies, mammography, diagnostic x-rays, surgery and pain injections with the C-arm, DEXA scans, and fluoroscopy studies.  I have become a better person because of the amazing people I get to work with every day.  A typical week here starts with Mondays which is the one day a radiologist from RDR comes to the hospital so we can perform pain injections, diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, ultrasound biopsies, and fluoroscopy exams.  Tuesdays are when Little Falls Orthopedic comes.  Saint Cloud Podiatry comes on Wednesdays.  The technologists here do one night of on call every week, and one weekend of call every month.  The call back time is 20 minutes.  If you don't live within the 20 minute call back time, you have to stay in the on call house, or a room in the hospital.

I thought it was the best place to work until 1 1/2 years ago.  Then I realized it was not a very employee appreciated / professional atmosphere.  All employees are not treated equal and unless you are a butt kisser you will not last there.

Originally I had hoped to stay till the age of 70, that is how much I enjoyed being there.  In the last 1 1/2 years I had started to count the days to retirement at the age of 66.  That is a drastic change.

I knew I could not stay there till the age of 66.  The daily stress and tension was wearing on me big time.  It was not from the work but from coworkers.  I prayed every morning before I left home, Please God give me the strength to make it through today.  Help me get out of there.  I was looking for a new job by this time.  Well the Good Lord works in mysterious ways.

I was terminated from my position on January 24, 2013.  I was in total shock.  But as time has gone by, I realize this was Gods way of helping me.  

I had to fight to get unemployment, and an unemployment judge granted me this on March 8, 2013.  I am currently looking for a new job, but am very happy to be getting paid for my time off.

Working at Centra Care is an amazing experience; interacting with patients from all around the world. A typical day involves registering patients at a walk-in facility through phone or direct interview, verifying/obtaining authorizations for insurance, workers comp, corporate accounts, sorting mail, correspondence and forwarding to the proper department/staff member. What I have learned is the ins and outs of the healthcare world, more about insurance, and overall how to be more personable. Management is amazing, always there when you need them, as well as my co-workers, extremely supportive. The hardest part of the job would be language barriers. Many patients are from different parts of the world and communication can be a bit challenging. The most enjoyable part of my job would be seeing the difference in a patient when they first walk in and when they come out, knowing that they had gotten quality care and we have done everything we could to better put them at ease.

Hope you like working for a selfish healthcare company that does not care about its patients or people, just profits! I loved the work I did at CentraCare and was really sad to leave my generous PTO, decent benefits, and the wonderful group of doctors I worked with. Management and coworkers were horrible. Company heavily rewards longevity and not quality of employee. Seniority was given a priority in just about every department decisions, including who could take PTO when and who was stuck working main holidays. Employees are promoted based on longevity, not abilities, which is why most of the management at this place is horrendous. The pay for my position was not comparable to the same job working 40 miles away. Company boasts that they have the highest pay in the region, but hard to compare when they are the ONLY healthcare company in the region. Take the extra commute time and work elsewhere. It’ll be worth it. 

If I didn’t have my coworkers, I wouldn’t be there anymore. It is SO short staffed ALL the time. Some nurses, APP’s, and doctors treat us like dirt. I get yelled at by patients because we never have availability. It’s extremely busy and stressful 98% of my day. The pay is a joke, especially PTO. Hint, you have to use your own PTO for holidays that they force you to take off because they’re not open. No sick leave. If you’re sick, they use your PTO, and then slam you with PTX. Don’t get too much PTX or else you will get fired. This forces everybody to work even when they’re sick with flu’s, etc. Then yesterday, every employee gets an email that Centracare is doing a massive layoff, and we may get axed. Great for work morale. Now we are all stressed this week to see if we’re going to be let go. I know they’ll make me work all week, and then at the end of the day on Friday, they’ll tell me not to come back on Monday. Would NOT recommend to work here, not that you could do to the hiring freeze and the massive layoffs.

 The supervisors at the time of my employment exit was downright terrible. Repeated concerns over employees slacking way past break times brought to these supervisors attention and then the reporting employee is retaliated against by the supervisor(s).
 During retaliation meeting with two EVS supervisors in their office, both supervisors were not wearing covid mask within the the premises required by centra care covid rules. I the EVS employee being retaliated against was wearing my required covid mask. Is there a double standard here!
 I the EVS employee had a very undeserving exit by one of the retaliative supervisors, in which both of the supervisors were downright jerks!
