In my role as an HR Assistant, a typical day involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring smooth and efficient HR operations. My responsibilities include generating and managing crucial reports such as verification of employment and CPSI reports, which are essential for maintaining compliance and accuracy in employee data management. I also play a key role in managing the onboarding process for new hires, facilitating a seamless transition into the organization by overseeing paperwork, orientation, and system access. Furthermore, I manage compliance-related tasks such as updating I-9s, EDDs, and employee badges, ensuring our HR systems are current and in line with legal requirements. Through this role, I have gained valuable experience in various aspects of HR, from compliance management to recruitment and onboarding. These experiences have contributed significantly to my professional growth, deepening my understanding of HR processes and enhancing my ability to manage them effectively.
The management at my workplace is supportive and attentive. They regularly check in with me, making sure I feel comfortable and confident in my role. This level of support fosters a positive work environment and encourages open communication.
The workplace culture is one of the highlights of my job. It’s a nice, diverse, and family-oriented environment where collaboration and mutual respect are emphasized. This culture not only makes the workplace enjoyable but also motivates me to perform at my best. I can’t pinpoint a specific aspect of my job that I find particularly difficult. The challenges I face are manageable and are part of the learning experience, contributing to my overall growth. The most enjoyable part of my job is the experience I gain daily. Each task and responsibility I take on adds to my skill set, making me a more competent and confident HR professional.

Central Valley Specialty Hospital’s management lacks transparency and fairness in its hiring process. Despite multiple job applications and interviews, qualified candidates are repeatedly overlooked, raising concerns about favoritism and bias. Employees who do manage to secure positions report being undervalued, overworked, and ignored when expressing concerns about workload and workplace culture.  

The hospital’s leadership fails to provide a supportive work environment, leading to low morale among staff. Unfulfilled job vacancies contribute to chronic understaffing, forcing existing employees to take on excessive responsibilities without proper recognition or compensation. Job postings often lack essential information, including wage details, violating California labor laws that require transparency in pay disclosures.  

For anyone considering employment here, be prepared for a frustrating hiring process and a workplace that does not prioritize employee well-being. Management should address these critical issues to improve working conditions and ensure fair hiring practices.  

This is the worse place I’ve witnessed working for out of any medical field related setting. They will have you make it seem easy during your orientation days. Once you’re on your own, you’ll be doing 2-3 people jobs. Depending on which nurses you have, they will help but most will let you drown and completely look down on you. Very draining and unprofessional. Nobody follows correct isolation room guidelines unless they have an inspector coming. It seems short term solution are being used for long term problems. Very confused how some staff members are in management positions, with no people skills or previous leadership roles. Patients will hit, kick, and call you names and supervisors won’t even bat an eye even if you file a complaint. A handful of employees look like they’re crackheads and neglect patients. They will try to persuade you to work there because you’ll get experience, when they don’t have even have designated trainers for each job position. You will get trained by whoever and nobody follows correct sanitary precautions. Overall disgusting!!! I genuinely feel bad for the patients that get admitted there. 

Depending what floor you were put on, it could be very busy or somewhat relaxed. Most nurses were helpful to CNAs but a lot seemed to blow off their patients until it was time for med pass and would send us in for every call light while they charted. a lot of other CNAs wouldn't want to help because they were too busy and some were rude. There's a wide variety of patients from 18 and older with different types of ailments and sicknesses so I felt that I learned and experienced a lot. There are less than 10 long term residents and the rest is acute/ rehab care so you get a lot of new patients often. Typically you would have anywhere from 6 to 13 patients assigned to you depending on census. It seemed like a lot of employees were friends and talked and joked around a lot but it was tough being the new person and I didn't have many people approach me in a friendly way. Management was pretty nice but sometimes it was hard to figure out who to talk to about certain issues. Overall I would work here again because of the acute care setting,

Worked here for awhile. Saw many staff turnover- and over and over. Average length of employment<1 year for RNs. Approximately 1RN to 7 LVS any given day. Recently received 3 Immediate Jeopardy deficiencies issued by The state for patient safety.  Saw many managers and administration leave - many of which were fired within 1 year, except those actually responsible for many of the deficiencies. Many complaints to the state re: patient safety/lack of management. Way too many staff/ administrators are related or friends without the professional degrees or work history to support their titles. A culture that eats their own. Administration do not support the mid-management or clinical staff. Equipment in poor repair. At times, not enough supplies or services. Staffing always an issue for high acuity patients. No education program for staff for level of patients cared for. Required to work overtime without compensation. Retaliation often occurs. No consistent, ongoing quality plan to correct deficiencies. Multiple patient compliants. Not a safe place to work.

When I first started working here I 
found it super enjoyable and actually looked forward to coming to work. There are some amazing staff that love what they do but then there is some nurses that don’t know their left hand from their right. The unit clerks turn off the patients call lights and fail to notify the nurses that the patient is needing them. The only time this facility is actually running how one should be is when state is here after that back to the usual no one caring about anything. Nurses forget to break sitters for breaks and lunch sometimes. The DoN is a brand new RN and has no management skills. They are always short staffed with literally everything. The HRs don’t know what they are doing. I can only think of 1 House Supervisor who was actually a very good RN and he no longer works here so the HSs don’t know what they are doing and take the title to far to the head. Definetly won’t regret quitting to find a better job with better pay.  

I typically start my day off at a team meeting.  I have been given many hours of training to help me understand my job more, and given the tools that allow me to be successful at my job.  The team I work with is more like a family, and always willing to help one another.  The hospital CEO is very helpful and is always available when I need her or have questions about advancing my career.  They are very supportive of staff who are wanting to continue their education and very willing to work around employees school schedules, and very supportive of the work assigned to ensure your ability to complete your job successfully.  I have worked in healthcare business development for over 6 years now, and I can honestly say, this is the most supportive management team I have ever worked for, and I am very excited to continue learning the LTAC skill set.

Very poorly mismanaged. No support. Safety concerns. Would strongly advise reading many other review sites to identify a pattern for this establishment. Pay particular attention to reviews/testimonials written by patients and families!! Also read the California Dept. Of Public Health report for deficiencies pat and present. It is unfortunate that this company does not pride itself on patient satisfaction nor employee shared governance. In the beginning, when it opened in 2013- the potential for something much needed in healthcare was there. They let this place go much to the disappointment of our medical community. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone interested in advancing their career or is a true patient advocate. It’s just that simple. Seek employment elsewhere- where you can thrive, be supported and learn the reuse art of nursing and quality healthcare delivery.

Working at Central Valley Specialty Hospital has been an incredibly rewarding experience that I am truly grateful for. This hospital stands as a shining example of dedication to patient care, employee growth, and a supportive work environment.

From day one, I was struck by the hospital's unwavering commitment to providing top-notch patient care. The passion and empathy displayed by every staff member, from nurses to doctors to support staff, create an atmosphere that puts patients and their families at ease during challenging times. It's heartwarming to witness the positive impact we have on the lives of those we serve.

The emphasis on professional growth and development is a hallmark of Central Valley Specialty Hospital. The leadership team is genuinely invested in helping employees expand their skills and knowledge.  I always felt encouraged to further my career and pursue new challenges. This commitment to growth fosters a sense of purpose and determination among the staff.

At Central Valley Specialty Hospital the typical work day is hectic. Everyone at CVSH is constantly moving, talking, and doing their daily shuffle but there is never a dull moment. 
When you are in the middle of the hectic, yet seamlessly organized chaos you can't help but to learn more than you knew yesterday; it is almost impossible to not obtain new information to mull over and add to your own knowledge base in this fast-paced environment.  
Though a fast-paced environment can seem overwhelming at times, working at Central Valley Specialty Hospital is so worth the chaotic shuffle because of the culture that is brought to life. There is so much diversity, warmth, and respect in this environment that it feels like home away from home. 
As we all know, there will always be difficult struggles in any job, no matter the location or place, but even the toughest challenges are enjoyable at Central Valley Specialty Hospital because, here, we are a team.
