There is absolutely no respect for social workers! There is grotesque insufficiency in training; management will throw you to the wolf den and you are left hoping you do not get mauled. There is no adequate supervision, management of all social workers is stationed at another hospital and most of the time too busy to speak to the team, with the exception of weekly phone conferences which management refers to as “supervision”, which instead of having clinical case presentations or speaking about significant issues that arise in social work practice (i.e. countertransference, transference, burn out, etc..), are comprised of management adding blanketed statements that no one is able to understand, or better yet, patients who have had longer lengths of stay than your average patient and have exceeded their insurance coverage. 
 	There are no opportunities for professional development or personal growth; social workers endlessly advocate for the opportunity to have just half a day to attend conferences to meet nationwide required CE’s.  LCSWs, you are out of luck— there are no opportunities to work toward your LICSW. To no avail, social workers before you have fought for that opportunity. As far as discharge planning, social workers are harassed by management with unrealistic expectations of discharging difficult to place patients, whom long before their admission into inpatient level of care have burned bridges with other providers and although management is aware that the placement of these patients is nearly impossible, whether it be a group home or IMH, and under the responsibility of the state, hospital social workers have to everyday call the state to see if there have been changes within a 24 hour timeframe.  Funny thing is, when you provide an update to management, they are always ahead of you, so really, there is no point of calling the state.
 	If you are looking for an opportunity to welcome misery into your life, I encourage you to apply, otherwise, if you have respect for yourself or your respective discipline, as aforementioned— STAY AWAY!!

Overall everyone is unprofessional. Human Resource is a joke. There is a cultural of i have your back if you have mine, and they like to cover up stuff internally alot because many of them have been working together for many years. This includes Vice presidents, managers and supervisors can be the first ones to be unprofessional. For an organization that is within healthcare there is a lack of respect for patients and hipaa compliance. I really hope the centralized office of Medicare and Medicaid would invesitgate or audit thier physican offices and internal hospital systems. Employees that work for this organization are offered a health plan that saves them money but only if they stay with charter care facilities and doctors ( basically the same doctors they work for in order to save money ) which means they  have to deal with internal employees that they are used to dealing with on a day to day basis for work related stuff and now have to deal with them for their own health related issues which can be (uncomfortable ) NOT to mention that internal employees can look up your health protected information but they give you this bogus answer that if you feel someone has violated your privacy you can call the compliance officer to have a audit done. Who has time to call and have a audit done each time they suspect this happened. how about you automactically block employee users id from other employee information like other companies do.

Favoritism, 32 hours full time opens the door to those staff to do favors and pick up extra time. Those that were already 40 hours could not be the “savior” and pick up that extra shift.  RNs working in a crital Care area and unable to perform crustal Care nursing care. 
Dirty, dusty, but the floors are super waxed every other week. 
Private Health care information left out on open desk, unattended fax machine. PHC information left out on desk where public has access to. 
No one doing chart audits in IR, Endo, OR and PACU. DOCUMENTATION in great need for improvement if anyone cared to check. 
Joint Commination and Rai Health Dept. does not do a deep dive and walks around with management and elect people 
No one checks a wristband?? 
Meds left out on Omni cell after everyone has gone home. Who is paying for that medication?
Bed management and staffing done when the crisis is underway. No planning ahead by looking at OR admissions for the week. 
Staff burnt out and leaving. 
I could go on and on after working at a Magnet Hospital in the same city the only recommendation I can say is please do not go there to work. 
 Benifits, money, call pay the worst and lowest in the State of Rhode Island.

I have been with the company for over 2 years now, I have seen many staff come and go. The Manager is one of the best I have ever worked with, she is great!
If you are seeking opportunities in a medical hospital, this is a good place to learn; the education staff  are awesome and always a cell phone call away with any questions or issues with anything. There has been a lot of shaking up recently with upper management- CEO,, etc..... We, as staff, just read about the changes in an email.
This is a for profit hospital and operates no differently than any other "for profit" business. Patient care and satisfaction is at the forefront of the mission statement and goal- With that being said, oftentimes, we are so busy and understaffed, it can, at times, be unsafe. However, it seems like we have either an overabundance of staff and actually get to take a lunch break, or there is not a second to take a bathroom break because 3 other hospitals are on diversion and we get dumped on. 
The majority of the people I work with are nice and genuine- a few, actually smile and like where they are and what they are doing. Others have a resting b face and a frown on their face every time you see them- I've actually seen some unhappy campers, sorry- nurses, talk down and act rudely to patients. My take- If you don't love what you do, or where you are doing it, LEAVE!!!!

Been "orienting" here for about a month. I say orienting because it is non-existent. I have talked to my former manager, new manager, educator...blahh blah blahh and the bottom line is they do not have an education program for nurses to follow as they orient/ in general that is working. They told me they did upon hire. I am not a new nurse. They told me I would have to continue to "advocate" for myself and my learning needs....that is not my job, I have been struggling with this company for a month and no one cares that I was not qualified to work in certain areas of the hospital based on competencies that I had not been checked off on, until I told them. They told me that most people would have quit and would not have said anything. I told them what was going on because I am a good nurse and I care about patient safety and my ability to have the knowledge of the hospital to successfully do my job. The hospital I work for tried to turn all of the issues I had a concern with on me and apparently they think it is fine to have a nurse precept who has 6 patients. Apparently they think it is fine that I was in a critical care area that I was not trained in and they proceeded to tell me that they dont understand what my issue is. My issue is my license and patient safety. That is why I am a nurse.

This was the worst facility that I have ever worked for.  The hours are long and tedious.  The staff was not easy to work with.  I had no person to help mentor me into a lead position.  I made it clear to them that if I was doing something or not doing something to their liking to correct me but instead they used mistakes I'd make against me instead of helping me.  They are severely understaffed.  They have no second shift and expect the first shift to stay till all the inpatients are done.  They add everything on as an emergency just to get the test done.  The on call schedule is terrible and they put me on the schedule for every holiday in 2019 and the call schedule would not have changed for 2020.  It was nearly impossible to get any time off due to it being severely under staffed.  My manger said she would be there to mentor me and said she would check in with me on a weekly basis which was not done.  I was pretty much left to sink myself.  The other staff members were bullies and they ganged up on me to ultimately get me fired.  I went to HR with this and they were useless in handling this situation.  I would never recommend working for Roger Williams Medical Center!!!

This company is slowly circling the drain. Micromanagement at the VP level has led to a mass exodus of clinicians, office staff and managers. The agency focus is on making money rather than patient care. Employee responsibility is constantly being increased without making any concessions for the amount of extra time it takes to complete. Patients can't always be seen at the prescribed visit frequency due to poor staffing. The amount of time allotted for patient contact, documentation, and travel are not congruent with reality. Staffing has been reduced to a level where the agency is unlikely to be able to continue to function in the near future. It would appear that upper management/administrators don't care about the agency, as no changes have been made to improve working conditions in spite of having a union contract in place to protect workers. It isn't being followed by management, most likely because they didn't want the union in the first place. Pay is poor at best and benefits, while generally good, you will pay top dollar for. Raises are infrequent and pay is not commensurate with industry standards. Definitely do not recommend working here.

Jobs are threatened weekly  It's a hostile environment.  Expectations are so unrealistic and out of line; most people are looking for new jobs.  This company is the most out-of-touch with culture policies are made up on the spot; employee morale is the worst it's ever been.  Managers are the worst micro-managers who have not had any exposure to the real corporate world. Corporate makes decisions without any idea of how it affects the hospitals under their umbrellas.  Doctors and nurses running and running fast!
HR is non-existent and hide their heads in their holes.  They do NOT want to hear from staff/employees; HR doesn't even do employee surveys, feed-backs or attempt to have any kind of communication at all with staff.  We have the highest LOA percentage of any other company I've ever worked at.  
How this corporation treats non-direct care patient staff is just beyond shameful.  Most of the staff that stays is because they are close to retirement.  New hires will leave quickly - taking a new job at a higher pay rate is the only way to get a raise.

Just about fair at best.

Goal should be minimum 4/5 stars (Good). This organization as limited focus or planning to become a more influential player  the RI / New England hospital market. Its lack of strategic planning making it vulnerable to be reactionary & not proactive in adapting to change & patient care needs.

It is a shame, because CharterCare is positioned to be a real player in the very competitive New England hospital arena. It poor strategic vision only weakens its chance to take advantage of their position.

I need to work for an organization that can be financially & patient care responsible simultaneously. Chartercare is too obsessed with pseudo measures and because of this  it's patient care is only fair at best.

This is very disappointing especially in a so-called teaching hospital.

The daily challenges were fulfilling which kept me very busy. Excellent qualified, dependable and professional biomedical staff to work with. Got along extremely well with co-workers involved in Engineering, Environmental Services, Infection Control, Risk Management, Safety, Security, Project Manager, Purchasing, Finance, and Administration.  Good re pore with many vendors.  Enjoyed being involved with capital projects such as CT installations, renovations and upgrading equipment.  Enjoyed working with many sales representatives on purchasing new medical equipment, coordinating and assisting with vendor sales presentations, working with physicians, surgeons, and nurses to help with their equipment needs.  The most difficult part of the job was justifying the need for replacement equipment when money was tight.
