Financially, Chartwell pays attorneys below market. They try to lure you with promise of lucrative bonuses, however, they will create every single excuse available to cut your hours to make sure that you never access the bonuses. If you’re an attorney with less than three years experience, DO NOT choose to work at Chartwell. You are not respected and even disrespected often. Critically, your own legal assistant tells you what to do, literally. Also, whenever you delegate a task to your legal assistant, your legal assistant ignores you, and ultimately, you’ll end up doing it yourself. Chartwell makes it abundantly clear that they intend to control every aspect of your life. Chartwell does not allow you to create your own hours or work-life balance, the partners want to tell you when you’re allowed to leave. There is no culture here, all office wide lunches are forced, meaning if you cannot make, you’re asked why, like you’re a child. 

Although lip service is paid to the trope of the "Chartwell family", you are only as valuable as your most recent billing numbers - whether genuine or inflated - no matter how long you have worked there, what courtroom successes you have had, or how skilled you are. 
The titular head of the family believes that all attorneys are fungible and that there is no need for the firm to hire attorneys who excel or who have star quality. Perhaps that explains why the attorneys and staff are paid well below market rate.
If you want your career to be distilled to the absolute lowest denominator of how much money you bring in to the firm, and have no desire to excel or be surrounded by the best, this is the place for you.

This place sells itself on all it can provide their attorneys as a national firm. The NYC office will tell you about advancement and help they provide you and that the firm is big on marketing and will help you. In reality they micromanage you, don't train you, treat all of the associates terribly while asking way too much and giving too little. Managers don't know how to manage and create a culture of putting all of their employees down no matter how much they work. Very toxic culture and it makes you realize why there's so much turn over and only a few people in the entire office have been there for more than a few months. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Only good thing is working from home. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
New software programs, no adequate training, multiple issues with management and employee morale. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very toxic environment and nowhere to go for help.  Claim to treat their employees like "family."  Sadly nowhere near the truth.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unrealistic deadlines for associate attorneys and paralegals, with outdated equipment that frequently breaks down so you cannot effectively perform your job duties.

I’ve had a great experience working at Chartwell Law. It’s a place where you can truly grow roots and build a long-term career. The firm provides meaningful opportunities to develop your skills, take on responsibility, and steadily climb the ladder based on your performance.

Leadership is supportive and invested in professional development, and there’s a strong emphasis on teamwork and mentorship. If you’re willing to put in the work, the opportunities are there to advance and shape your career path.

Overall, it’s an excellent environment for anyone looking to grow within a firm and establish themselves over time.

Terrible firm for paralegals which would explain the high turnover rate. There is no training or onboarding at all. Partners want you to constantly communicate with them but they are either never in the office or too busy to give you the time of day. Also, the partners do not want to go over any billing procedures with you but you are expected to know how to bill each client for every project. Unrealistic expectations for length of projects as they relate to billing.

I genuinely enjoy being part of the Chartwell team. The growth here is incredible — if you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, this is absolutely the place to be.
What really sets Chartwell apart is the culture. Leadership is approachable, colleagues are warm and collaborative, and there's a true sense of family. From thoughtful baby gifts to robust wellbeing programs and active employee resource groups, Chartwell goes above and beyond to support its people.

The environment is toxic as it is filled with non caring and grossly under qualified or blinded senior management.  Very nepotistic culture and no advancement opportunities.  Leadership is nonexistent.  Most of the attorneys and staff are fantastic but they are trapped in a culture led by a management committee who conveniently turns a blind eye.

Working here was very beneficial as I was constantly in contact with the client which in turn gave me insight on each of our cases and gave me a better understanding as to our position in the case.  Developing a relationship with the client was very beneficial for both sides at the time of trial.

Was hired and after 3 weeks of work was let go because the person I replaced wanted their job back.Not the best place to work Unless you know someone. They had no time to work with you or show you anything that had to do with your job
