Ensuring adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures. 
•Maintaining standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. 
•Communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete. 
•Responding to personnel, operational and safety and environmental incidents. 
•Ensuring work is completed in accordance with maintenance schedules. 
•Developing and establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the Operations team. 
•Coordinating daily work schedules and assigning duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads. 
•Interpreting short to mid-term area plans, including improvement activities, and organize team members to execute the plans; ensuring availability of equipment, labor and materials. 
•Interfacing with other areas (i.e. - Maintenance First Line Supervisor, Manufacturing Technology Team, etc.) on priorities and needs to ensure effective execution of work. 
•Ensuring employees follow established Safe Work Practices; especially early work identification 
•Setting expectations and holding people accountable for Core Value compliance (SHE/PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior. 
•Organizing and managing staffing levels to ensure adequate support for unit operation
•Identifying capabilities needed and ensuring training and development needs for direct reports are complete (e.g. - job cycle checks)

Chemours is a dynamic chemistry company that has its origination from DuPont in 2015. They are expanding quickly and establishing as a premier chemistry company. They have publicly made environmental stewardship, community, and personnel inclusion goals and will execute against in the next 10 years. 
Plant work involves ample time in the plant working with front line operations and maintenance groups. Typically 3-4 hrs a day are spent in meetings or collaboration efforts on projects/problems. 
Engineering career progression is attractive and job security is strong especially for the larger plant sites. 
Workplace culture is improving as a big focus is on Organizational Health. The culture is fast paced and demanding, especially from corporate leadership as the businesses are extremely profitable. This motivates individual contributors but also adds stress and impinges upon proper work life balance. 
Hardest aspect of job is meeting leadership expectations and intermediate goals yet maintain profitable day to day production. Within operations organization, individual contributors have an extensive list of day to day responsibilities which limits ability to focus on larger initiatives or programs. 
Some sites are well understaffed as far as initiatives and programs go but the company is prioritizing hiring to fill gaps.

Be ready to train your self. You will get no support from management.  They don't have time because they're too busy going to meetings. The plant was built in the  50's and has been scabbed onto ever sense.  There are so many dead lines it is next to impossible to trace anything. The drawings are locked away in the mangers office so don't count on using them. If they put you with someone to train with you better hope he can stay awake long enough to show you something. That is if he is sober. This plant goes to sleep at night. After all Auto has got it. There are two types of safety there. The type they advertise when management is there and the type they practise when management goes home. Good luck if you make it through the probation period. If you get through that then get ready to live at this place because that's how everybody makes it OVERTIME. NOT THE WORST BUT IN THE TOP THREE OF THE WORST PLACES I HAVE EVER WORKED AT. if anyone from Chemours mangement  reads this, you all have a serious problem on your hands and I promise someone  is going to get killed out there.

The pay for an intern at Chemours is excellent, making it a great opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience while being fairly compensated. Beyond the financial benefits, the work environment is incredibly supportive. The people at Chemours are always willing to help, whether it’s answering questions, providing guidance, or offering mentorship to ensure you succeed. The managers are approachable, understanding, and genuinely invested in your growth. They create a positive atmosphere where you feel valued and encouraged to learn. One of the standout aspects of the internship is the flexibility they offer. If you need time off for school commitments or personal reasons, the managers are accommodating and respect the importance of work-life balance. This makes it easier to manage academic responsibilities while gaining real-world experience. Overall, Chemours provides an ideal setting for interns by offering competitive pay, a supportive team, and the flexibility needed to balance professional and academic commitments.

The company has taken significant actions to stabilize the financials of the company after the turbulent spin off from DuPont.  The spin off was clearly a way for the parent DuPont to pass as much of the difficult assets and liabilities to Chemours and let them clean them up.   There remains significant legal and environmental liability risk long term in several of the product lines.  The company management has only focused on stabilization and has not communicated any details of a coherent strategy beyond 2018.  It is all about cost reductions and stabilization first and a few selected investments second with no long term strategy other to say they want to increase the value of the Chemistry in their portfolio.

This was a very challenging and exciting job. There were always new and complex challengs very day. I loved the high speed pace of the work environment. We made great strides as a work team there. I was an Operations Supervisor and had to ensure we were operating a safe and evironmentally sound operation and we were making quality on test product. I wrote up job procedures, followed KPI (key proformance indicators) and ensured we operated under all procedures and work rules. I was also put in charge of a 10 million dollar Alky Unit maintenance overhall project and I was responsible for assuring the work was completed on time and without any injuries or environmental concerns. I Supervised a dozen operators on the shift and many more who would do work in our area of the plant.

Chemours is a failed spin off from DuPont.  Since the spin off they have sold one third of the company bit by bit.  Non stop layoffs and many sites closing.  A typically day is full of high pressure and stress to fulfill unrealistic goals and working with consultants who set unrealistic expectations to upper management.  Management is under extreme pressure from Wall Street to deliver results that the CEO promised in his five point transformation plan.  They lose money every quarter and sell divisions to help cash flow.  My co-workers are great but stressed out as well.  The hardest part of the job is management does not know how to build a real team so your on your own.  You get no help from your direct management.  They set the unrealistic goals and apply the pressure.

A strong ethically focused company that is driven by its stated Values and Behaviors (core values) that is also supportive of employees career aspirations as balanced with family priority as needed.   Leadership walks the talk and the company is also very business driven but in a responsible to way to its stakeholders (employees, community, and share holders).    The best company when it comes to driving a safe work environment and always looks to drive lower impact to the environment for its manufacturing processes.   Also the company has recently driven an increased investment in human capital; in time, training, and qualification for its employees.    A great place to work!

Get jobs list from supervisor and look at job with operators. Then look around for supplies for that job for at least an hour or more at multiple locations to see if we could actually do the job. If we found the adequate parts then we could continue if not on to the next job and the same events. this is a typical day on shift. I learned to never trust anyone especially management. The culture is destroy all who don't bend to managements requests. The hardest part of the job was not knowing if you would be able to go home safely because there was always the possibility of a catastrophic explosion. The most enjoyable part of the job was being at least 5 miles away from the plant.

Chemours is a spin-off of DuPont, so it has a lot of older DuPont people who give it your more classic office feeling. It also is striving to get past that, so there's a lot of new blood entering which makes it very interesting to work there. Definitely a lot of advancement, seeing as how HR told me 50% of office workers are going to retire in the next 10-15 years. Sometimes I found myself having a hard time communicating with managers and it made getting certain jobs done difficult. This said, everyone always had my back. Personally, I don't think the chemical industry is the right spot for me, making it hard to give them a good review, since I didn't feel great about my job.
