What is the best part of working at the company?
The most meaningful part of my role was the appreciation I received directly from the individuals I served. Guests consistently expressed gratitude for the support and resources I provided, which made the work itself fulfilling. Unfortunately, that appreciation did not come from the company itself.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High turnover at nearly every level created instability and additional burdens for those who remained. The company often hired individuals without the necessary background or training, which left teams unprepared and forced others to carry the workload.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is disorganized and top-heavy, with management frequently disconnected from day-to-day operations. There is little to no support or accountability from leadership. Employees are not provided with the tools or resources to succeed, and HR is often perceived as aligned with management rather than advocating for staff concerns. Training is inconsistent and inadequate, especially in critical areas such as exit planning for asylum seekers.

Favoritism and personal connections often outweigh qualifications in hiring and promotions, which leads to an uneven distribution of work. Dedicated employees may find themselves taken advantage of, while underperforming staff face little consequence. This creates a toxic culture where morale is low and turnover is high.

What is a typical day like?
Much of the day involves attending meetings that provide little value or direction. Guidance from senior management is often unclear or contradictory, leaving employees to seek answers from multiple sources just to complete basic tasks. Interaction with corporate leadership is minimal once you are assigned to a project, and support from the company is largely absent.

Overall assessment
If your sole priority is securing a paycheck, Cherokee may meet that need. However, for those seeking professional growth, adequate training, organizational support, and a healthy workplace culture, this company may be disappointing. The lack of accountability, resources, and genuine investment in employees makes long-term success extremely difficult.

I am writing to provide critical feedback regarding the operational realities at Cherokee Federal. While the compensation and benefits are indeed commendable, alongside a swift onboarding process, significant challenges exist that demand immediate attention.

It is evident that a considerable portion of both caseworkers and management currently lack the necessary expertise, hindering our collective effectiveness. Furthermore, the mandated work schedule of three 12-hour days and one 6-hour day is not only excessive but also fundamentally misaligned with the needs of the vulnerable population we serve. Critical issues requiring our intervention do not adhere to a Monday through Friday schedule.

This rigid scheduling forces dedicated professionals to sacrifice their weekends and consistently miss weekday family dinners, directly impacting morale and long-term commitment. This structure undermines our ability to provide consistent and impactful support to those who need it most.

We must address the competency gaps within our teams and urgently re-evaluate the current scheduling model. Implementing strategic training initiatives and transitioning to a more balanced and effective work week are crucial steps towards optimizing our operations and fostering a more sustainable and impactful work environment at Cherokee Federal. I urge you to consider these points seriously and take decisive action to improve our effectiveness and the well-being of our workforce.


My job is simple as can be, which is a plus. The pay is ok, which is a plus. The management are complete imbeciles; i had better managers when I was 14 and my manager was a 17 year old at a food place. They are hopeless. They will punish hard work,  and never have a clue what is happening. The managers above them are also clueless. The coworkers and atmosphere can be tense due to the mismanagement, but luckily I've met some nice people there; the actual IRS workers do not particularly care for contractors, however. The biggest issue, by far, is their management. The other issues are the beginning process can take weeks; their response is not going to be there. you have to go out of your way, and this is after they hire you; its like their hiring managers forget everyone they hire. Some coworkers took months to get on; total mess. Another issue is their timekeeping system is very aggravating, and poor. The job itself, and what they have you do, is actually pretty easy; if management got out of their own way, I would excel. But as it stands, my 6th manager is a complete imbecile like the last.

I absolutely do NOT recommend working in Revenue Audit at Will Rogers Downs. I worked there from 11-2021 thru 4-2023. I worked with 4 teams and 3 managers/supervisors and was the ONLY employee a few times. I was hired at $13.00 and $13.23 when I left. The work schedule is Sunday thru Thursday 8am-4pm. The past management would let me take off a holiday if it fell on my scheduled work day or let me leave at noon. I don’t think that will be the case with the new management. Currently, there is a lot of gossiping and “pot-stirring” in the department. It is not a professional atmosphere. Management does not treat the team the same. The other employees through out the casino were very nice and easy to work with. I never encountered anyone unpleasant. I will miss them. Long story short: Revenue Audit at Will Rogers Downs is a complete shi! show.  If you get hired to that department, go ahead and fill out a few more applications for when you leave in a couple months, because you will….
*The insurance is garbage. They rejected 4 diabetes medications. I pay out of pocket for my insulin. 

My experience at this workplace was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, it was clear that favoritism played a major role in how employees were treated and recognized. Hard work and dedication often went unnoticed unless you were part of management’s inner circle. The work environment was toxic, and management frequently condoned bullying and unprofessional behavior instead of addressing it. Many employees felt unsupported and undervalued, which created constant tension and low morale. Attempts to raise concerns were either ignored or used against those who spoke up, further discouraging honesty and transparency. There was little opportunity for fair growth or advancement, and the overall culture promoted fear rather than teamwork. No one should feel anxious or disrespected at work, yet that was the daily reality here. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a healthy, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Project Managers/Site Leads are extremely committed not only to mission accomplishment for the client but for the contract personnel as well. I can always rely on my Site Lead to have my best interests in mind. Cherokee overall offers a huge amount of support for it's employees as well, with free online training and tons of benefits.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The same issues you run into as a contracted employee anywhere, subject to the whims of the client and its funding. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Healthy and supportive, as efficient and caring an organization I've ever been a part of.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Standard work day, with daily obligations as well as unique projects.

Great compensation, great leave, great bonus structure.  The work is great, fast paced. My colleagues were a wonderful group of people. 
However, Management did not want to hear about any issues.  There is no support,  there is no such thing as teamwork or camaraderie. You are expected to figure it out on your own.  Remember "employees don't leave companies, they leave HORRIBLE managers.  (& it starts at the top)

The typical workday was absolutely fine like your normal 9-5 with a good lunch break, but it would be utterly miserable if you weren't sucking up to your immediate Chain of Command the entire time and taking on an impossible workload to impress your seniors. 

Management only existed to grill you. Do you know the old saying "There are no stupid questions?" Well there are stupid questions you'll get laughed at for while trying to better yourself.

The workplace culture is non-existent if you don't conform to the clique culture of your team.

The hardest part of this job was having to dull my personality and dumb myself down because leadership doesn't like it if you are happy and bringing new ideas to the table that contradict their broken logic.

No overtime. No commission. No extra bumps. No incentive to stay. You are just another number here.

A typical day at work when the supervisor was absent was very professional and drama-free. All of the employees got along very well and the atmosphere was always positive. When the supervisor was in the office, there was always gossip, conflict and tension among the employees. I LOVED my duties and handled everyone professionally, but I disliked all of management. The culture could’ve been amazing had management listened to the issues that were brought to their attention the whole 3 years that the contract was active. The most enjoyable part of the job was satisfying the customers and vendors, and also being told how great I was at doing my job and others.

Only best part was meeting new people……

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They had wrong people as managers. We kept being moved further and further back to other departments. It got to the point I could not walk the long hallways anymore. The company should have stepped in and ask why are we being moved so much? We were their to help not to be moved everywhere!!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We were told we could not talk with th employees there which made everyone upset because there was no reason for that. The atmosphere was very bad….you were scared if you talked with the employees you would get written up.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not good that’s why I left after 1 month and 2 weeks.
