In my years working at CHH, I have had a very positive experience. A lot of what we do is collaborative, and everyone on the team is willing to help and support you in any way. The management and leadership of CHH always has a boots on the ground approach, they are very involved and always want to help. They listen to your concerns or struggles with true consideration and care. They care about the voices of everyone in the organization, from the schedulers, to the parents, to the patients we provide care for. There is a huge focus on communication and transparency. Each role is pretty well organized, with policies and procedures outlined for every process. Since the organization is smaller, you really feel like they care for you as a person instead of just a number. They make many accommodations for employees. The only thing I would say could be better are the health benefits and that they don't have a 401k plan, but that's really it. They provide ample PTO, time off, and holiday pay. I have loved my time at Children's.

I was nervous about working for them because of how far out their office was to me. However, they assured me that they had plenty of clients in my county. That was a flat out lie, they had two patients. They were horrible about communicating messages between coworkers and with the family, but will call you 6 times a day to inform you of a charting error. There is no such thing as promotion as a field nurse unless you graduate with a higher degree, then they would have to. Pay is average, I had to fight for $20/hr. They told me they don’t pay for mileage, but the night shift nurse I work with let it slip that she is paid mileage; so they lied about that too. 1/2 of the families are crazy. They insist on meetings in office, knowing good and well how difficult it is for me to get there. Then once I arrived, I realized that this meeting could really have been a telephone call.The pay for the meeting was $10/hour which was wasn’t worth the money.

I have  worked with Children's Home Health since 2010 and the most I can say about this company is that, It has been very gratifying and fulfilling  to be an employee of CHH. The CHH Management has young employees who are respectful, considerate and just awesome.Their voices across the phone line emulate good customer service that can make one overestimates their age bracket, but when you get to meet them one on one, you realize that they are a young group of team players who are of the current generation of people.Some of us belong to the previous generations, and the most we have seen from people of their age is outright rudeness, impatience with older people and meanness. These young people are just different and awesome. I have worked for other children's home health companies, but I have not been treated with humane consideration and appreciation as  I have experienced at CHH. The company's gestures of appreciation to employees just amazes me! Because of that, I also take it upon myself to always write back to express how appreciated I feel.

Arrive at work receive report from off going nurse. Assess patient while sleeping and provide any interventions needed. For example Suctioning/Respiratory treatment.G-Button venting/pericare. Plan for nutrition and fluid hydrations for the day. Calculating oral intake and known G-Button intake. Review calendar for scheduled appointment and therapies for the day. Provide first g-button feeding of the day while sleeping. Monitoring closely for aspiration and emesis. Once awake providing daily cares, respiratory treatments and fluid management continues every hour throughout the day. Afternoon is spent with therapies and reinforcement of what child is learning. Carrying and repositioning child for every activity during the day. Frequent respiratory treatments during the day. 3 Tube feedings during my shift. Frequent reassessment and management of condition during the day. Very physically demanding shifts. Requiring you to be closely involved with parents. Need to be able flexible and able to roll with anything that comes up.

I have worked as a pediatric RN for CHH for many years. Currently, I am caring for the same special needs patient I have cared for 5 years now, but I have cared for many over the years. 
Working with children and with families of children with disabilities has been a very rewarding career. 
Working at this agency, you get to provide one on one care with patients. If one has ever worked at the hospital, you can truly appreciate a more relaxed atmosphere, being responsible for only one patient at a time. The only drawback is less pay than the hospital. 
The office staff at the Amarillo office have always been polite, and easy to talk to, and I have seen firsthand that they always work hard to provide nursing staff/scheduling that best suits the needs of the patient/families with special needs. Of course, that is not always possible, but I do know they do the best they can do. 
I am truly blessed to have the job I have, just wish I was paid more money. 

Overall I have enjoyed my time with Children's Home healthcare. The clinical supervisors are helpful if you ever need anything, the charting system is very user friendly and the schedulers try to be accommodating with your schedule. 
Now for the cons. There seems to be very few open shifts, so if your normal patient is hospitalized or goes out of town, you're sometimes out of work. The training for the new grad program is not that extensive, just a few days training with another nurse then you're on your own. Lastly, they don't tell you much about the patients before you work with them. You can typically read through the chart prior to a shift, but you don't always know important things like if the parents are easy to get along with, if the patient doesn't like new people, ect.

•	Administer medication, take and record vital signs, assist children with their daily care, start and administer intravenous fluids.

•	Diagnose diseases by performing analysis
•	Work with Pediatricians to ensure that proper treatment is administered at all times
•	Ensure that the treatment provided is producing the expected results and alter treatments when the requirement occurs.
•	Document all assessments and correlate with the client’s individualized plan of care.

I Love our patients. I Used to love CHHA, but they lost the family feel they used to have. They used to have meetings/parties that helped all the nurses know each other & feel a sense of community. That ended. They don’t give raises with yearly reviews or take into account years of service to the company. They did give a stethoscope to nurses after 10 years of service. I don’t know if they do anything like that now. They quit yearly bonuses which used to be the reason for no raises. It’s Hard to give more, or offer more of yourself when you feel unappreciated.  They do give differentials for weekends & Trach/vent patients. You can find a schedule that fits your needs. Local office staff is great. If you ask for their help, they will help you. 

pays RN less than hospital and sometimes less than some of their LVNs! Rarely give raises. If you want a raise you have to FIGHT for it and they will pull every stop to show you that you do not deserve a raise. The patients are great, but you must stay in the patients home for multiple hours at a time (up to 12 hours, without a true break). You are subjected to the patients environment also. That means if its a hostile environment, you are all on your own there..... if its dirty or has an infestation you can not leave for multiple hours! High turn over rate of nurses and managers. Also told there is not workman's comp services to field nurses because they can not control the work environment. Little training in the field and you don't get paid your full pay when orientating.

Overall a great place to work. At times the work load is intense but manageable. Company has overall had a bad experience with office nursing staff. I do believe they see nurses as disposable. However, they are the most caring company I have ever worked for. They are patient oriented. Every person in the office truly loves the children they take care of. Administration from North Texas Office is very committed, always reachable. You never have to face situations alone. Good employee support system. Large coverage area with very long drive times. No company vehicles but do reimburse mileage.
