Typical day started with answering emails from prospective students, our faculty members or outside individuals seeking assistance. Provided the necessary information to everyone to answer the inquiries. May or may not have a scheduled meeting, if so attend them and add imput. Answer phones and assist callers or route to indivilual that can be more helpful. Follow up with Secretary and office staff for pending items, projects and departmental issues. Kept an open-door policy for everone. Check statistics on classes, and canel or add courses if necessary. Check on pending contracts, travel approvals, scheduling issues as needed. Meet with my supervisor for daily/weekly issues.
I loved working for Cleveland State, I love helping people acheive their goals. I enjoyed all-day every day. Sometimes things were hectic and there seem to not be enough hours in the day expecially the beginning of each semester with last-minute registration issues.

I left my job to re-locate to Florida with my spouse and 15 year old son. I would love to join a company and be an asset. I am a very hard working, organized and dedicated employee who loves to challanges.

If you have no literary background, the title won't make sense--but just picture a frog roasting in water rising in temperature so excruciatingly slowly that the amphibian will not notice. This is life as an adjunct, especially at a large urban university.
Is it CSU's fault that this is the adjunct's plight? No, but by perpetuating the system, the employer is culpable by association. Imagine being paid less than $50 per student per semester in a role requiring an advanced degree. Add to that the need to publish and also find employment at other institutions because your work is contingent and contracted only two weeks before semester's start. You are required to get your own textbooks, computers, and any other needed materials. Parking is additional, and may be as much as 20% of your semester salary. Any wages you earn will not allow for Social Security contributions--because you are a public emplyee--so when you retire, your Social Security benefit will be reduced by all the time you spent teaching for poverty wages, and any part-time (Social Security-eligible) work you did will also not count toward your retirement earnings. But no one will tell you about these pitfalls while you are an adjunct.
So, is it all worth it? You must decide.

I didn't know what I was getting myself in to at first, I never worked in an office setting before so I thought it would be boring and unfriendly. However, me and my coworkers were trained for a full week prior to actually working. We got to do fun ice breakers with each other and we got to feel around the office. Everything is really learn as you go and hands on, but everyone was really helpful with helping me even though I was always too shy (or prideful) to ask. There is alot of independence that comes with the job. I'll be given tasks and projects, and I was able to complete them with a deadline in mind at my own leisure. I was never micromanaged and timelines are always flexible. Employees as a whole are considered, whenever I had to be late or not come to work for whatever reason everyone was understanding and I always had the option to make up any time I could. This environment really helped me grow professionally and personally. I never really considered working in higher education until I start working here. I got to meet some great local employers, CEOs, alumni, and CSU staff and faculty.

Cleveland State University is an awesome place for opportunity, for improving your skills and for self development. I found TASC, cleveland State University fun as well as sincere work place where new ideas is accepted and appreciated. Each and every employee is given chance for growth and play a crucial role in departmental development.
My job is to tutor biology and chemistry, 20 hours part time, teach students in batch of 5. Answering questions and encourage students to participate in discussion is my basic duty.Data entry is important function along with teaching and testing. Data entry related to each student is managed, their scores, progress is tracked daily. Hardest part of my job is to make students interactive and participate in discussions. Most beautiful moment in my job is when students appreciate my efforts and study hard for exams. Each and every student teach me a different style of teaching and I learn to be patient and friendly with them.My co-workers are supportive and provide me new idea to make my sessions interesting.

I want to say about my work place in Cleveland State University, actually for me as an international student that was very friendly and productive place. Every weeks I have meeting with my supervisor and other guys that working for my supervisor in very friendly place. 

I have learned team work from this kind of meeting, because we have to work with together and in end of the week we have to report our works to our supervisor.

My supervisor is very supportive and I have never seen that our questions make her tired and this is the most enjoyable part of the job for me because all of my questions every time have an answer with her help. 

last semester I was working as a graduate teaching assistant and research assistant for my supervisor and also I had 2 courses with 2 other professors. I had to submit my paper for TRB conference and also I had two midterm exam and also I had to grade 85 students exam for my professor. I remember I spent around 2 weeks all day and nights in my office for doing all of these work and after 2 weeks I could see the son. That was the hardest period of my work in Cleveland State University.

I loved my position in the Music Department at Cleveland State University. They had a big lay off because they were getting rid of all the secretaries and half the parking department. I was involved with the students everyday. They always made my day and they told me I made their day. A typical day was very hectic. Signing students up for their private lessons for the Professors. I scheduled the students for their private lessons and then before school starts I gave all the Professors their schedules. I also turned in grades for almost every Professor. The management was o.k. The workplace culture was great. The hardest part of the job was trying to get the students signed up for their schedules with them. My most enjoyable part of the job was the students, professors and classes for little children from the Cleveland schools system. Mostly children that don't have any music program at their schools. I ran the program and we had four classes going on in each room.

A day of tutoring at the Brooklyn Library...is a lifetime of memories. Tutoring for America Reads was one of the best experiences of my life; not only did I get to expand my knowledge to various children on various subjects, but I had the opportunity to share and learn about different cultures, personalities, and goals. With my fellow Cleveland State peers, we enhanced reading, writing, and math levels for so many children. They learned a lot about us, and we learned a lot more about all of them. One of the best things though, is knowing that you have actually made a difference in someone's life. Kids would bring me their test scores with increased grades to show me their improvement. This not only made the child feel better, but it also made me feel better. I love knowing that I helped them; I love knowing that I made a difference in their lives...and seeing all the wonderful smiles that went along with it made it even better.

There was never a typical day because something new happened everyday working with clients from all over the world from so many different cultures. 

I learned that I can handle very stressful environments, I can manage my time well , I handle large work load and pressure well especially since my work affected people's lives in very serious ways.

Management was amazing in that they encouraged people like me who like to take initiative on how to make the office more efficient  and productive. I was able to learn about every division of the center when i was done with my work, learning other people's work so i can help the team get things done efficiently for our students and other clients.

I always got along with my co-workers as i have a positive outlook on life and im friendly and im team player.

The hardest part of my work was leaving it. The best part was all the new people i got to meet everyday:-)

Working in the library was a fantastic experience in generally all aspects. While working in the multimedia services department, I worked at a customer service desk that exposed me to a variety of people and a large number of tasks. It was a calm atmosphere with great support from management. I further advanced my knowledge with computers and technology and also further developed my interpersonal skills. The hardest part of the job was handling multiple tasks at once, although it was rare that this had a major impact on my ability to perform the job. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with great people and great management and helping library patrons with anything and everything.

I would recommend this part-time position for any Cleveland State University who are searching for a flexible on-campus job.

This place is great to work for the benefits and a way to network only. They do not promote their current experienced employees nor do they consider them when applying for a new position. Everything is way too political and all about whom you know. They hire managers and directors that are from the corporate world and are very inexperienced who in turn create a horrible working atmosphere. The excellent reviews that have been posted so far are from student workers and GA's not real employees. Someone needs to anonymously interview the minorities on campus. They have a story to tell. This place is totally corrupted. The president doesn’t care as long as he can charge $25.00 cheeseburgers to the university, get overly compensated and work from home a few days a week. He needs to conduct an audit and care about the employees who actually work with the students. Many things are covered up but it’s time for an investigation.
