I enjoy working at CCH. The culture is that of compassion and caring, which are wonderful things to have in a workforce. The people and colleagues are really dedicated to the mission, and want to help their fellow person. Depending on your position, some departments are pretty flexible on your schedule. An additional plus that most of the positions here (note I say "most") run on a pretty regular business schedule (meaning no overnights/late-nights, no weekend work, etc. unless you are looking more at a director+ level position). 

Compensation is much lower than I would like, and I often perceive that the "feel-good" work is supposed to supplement the fact the salaries they offer are less comparable to other places you could be working. Promotions and raises seem arbitrary, and there is definitely a lack of career pathways there. There is no performance management tool in place, which means there are no performance/merit-based raises. The last several years, there has been an organization-wide Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for everyone, so that's alleviated a little bit of the stress that there is not any raises, but definitely doesn't really outweigh the fact that your overall performance is hard to gauge unless you yourself are able to accurately and strictly measure the outcomes/goals you put in place for yourself. Benefits are significantly cheaper than other places I have worked, and I also think the organization uses that as a rationale for also providing less in overall compensation. 

Make sure you have some PTO saved up come winter; their Snow Day/Closure policy is GARBAGE. They do not close their doors for anything; I think out of the four years I have worked there, they have closed the organization maybe twice? due to weather, and I can think of maybe three other times where they have delayed opened/closed early for severe weather (including the two bomb cyclone storms Denver got in 2019). The "advance notice" they give is an email by 6am - which even that was a recently implemented policy - if there is a delayed open/closure.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The clients. The work itself can be meaningful, and supporting people during critical moments is important. When teamwork happens as intended, the role has the potential to make a real impact.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is being placed in high-risk, high-stress situations without adequate support or protection. Safety staff regularly respond to assaults, overdoses, and intense de-escalations, which can take a serious toll over time. Experiencing repeated incidents like these, without proper follow-up or organizational support, can lead to long-term mental health impacts, including trauma-related stress.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is siloed and cliquey, with limited collaboration between departments. Safety staff are often undervalued, second-guessed, and excluded from decision-making despite being relied on during emergencies. The culture discourages speaking up, and there is little accountability or support after serious incidents, which creates a stressful and isolating work environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is reactive and high stress. Safety staff manage emergencies, workplace violence, and medical incidents while navigating a lack of respect, constant second-guessing, and minimal institutional support. The work requires staying vigilant at all times, knowing that serious situations can escalate quickly.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part is saying your work. That is, seeing a person get housing. The rewards is seeing them be successful in housing

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The expectation to do 80 hours worth of work in 40 hours. With the constant turnover, there's always a need to do your own with, do someone else work, and train new people. In 24 months there was more than a 250% turnover in a single office of about 50. Of the 50 people, only 3, maybe 4 have been there for more than a 18 months. And be mindful of the office cliques. 1 person ran off at least 5 in the last 6 or so months. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment has become toxic. There was a point in time about 4 years ago that this place was amazing. Random laughter and singing. Now it's all grumbling, gossip, and people that seem like they don't want to be there. Most don't, and use this place as an avenue into city and county jobs. 
The culture is great for the most part. Everyone, or at least most want to see change. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Now? Did I mention I resigned because of the drama and bs.

Colorado Coalition was such a supportive environment where I was encouraged to learn and grow, personally and professionally. They have great employee benefits and you get them on the first day, which is a great intro to the culture there. Whenever I speak about positive work culture, I use CCH as an example. Even in a highly stressful, and at times heart-breaking, work environment, I felt incredibly valued by my peers and management. I was given many opportunities to advance my education and work skills, some of which I benefit from to this day. Some of the issues that I faced was the lack of consistent and supportive security at the administrative level. At the time, the director for safety and security was reckless and unprofessional, so I hope that has changed in the 3 years since I left. I also feel as though the compensation is low, even for market standards, but they try to make up for that with benefits that are pretty supportive. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was the laziest job I ever had a lot of down time so anyone taking online classes or whatever this job is the best for catching up 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You have to deal with ungrateful and unstable people who are homeless and or has mental health issues or substance abuse not saying everyone is like that but it makes it harder on the people that are actually there to get help and better themselves because most of the time they get passed up over for someone who's not really there for help 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It varies from time to time sometimes it's mellowed out and other times it super chaotic 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Check my emails and do 2 nightly bed checks on the residents and hourly walks through the building (not every time but most of the time) and prepared breakfast for the residents in the morning

A very caring environment.  Most employees had the common goal of helping the homeless population. Workplace culture is very relaxed, inviting and trauma informed.The most difficult part of the job was finding boundaries between work and home.  My work day never ended after 8 hours.  It was difficult to see the immense suffering people have gone thru, and still are and very frustrating dealing with all of the "red tape" of governmental agencies.  It was difficult when my clients died.One other difficult aspect of my job was learning SSA disability law on my own; and, learning how to represent a client in SSA Disability court and in front of Federal Judges.  I was the only employed position, out of 500 plus employees, that was trained in the knowledge and expertise of SSA disability law.

I loved every aspect of my job of assisting mentally ill people.

This agency is huge (500 employees plus) and your experience is VERY dependent on if your particular program director is a good manager or not. My first year our director was GREAT, the workplace culture was warm and supportive. When that director left the shift was monumental. The management began to micro-manage the staff, there was huge pressure to make Medicaid billing metrics, staff were intimidated and manipulated by managers (told that "you're the only one not performing well" and then we talked to each other found out that we had EACH been told we were the only one not doing well). Staff that had been there for 3-8 years quit in a period of 6 months. I left as soon as I could.

Stayed very busy, non profit organization. Learned so much, such as my first experience in the payroll environment, my manager helped me advance my excel skills, and learned a lot about the property management aspect of our company.
Management was not horrible but some of their decisions on advancing some people just made me question their thought process. Some were put in positions that I did not feel we qualified. Had some relationships with most of my co workers, and even been back to visit them on occasion. 
Nothing that could say was really hard about the job, and I can say I did enjoy working for the company. Again it was just some management decisions were not always in my eyes their best decisions.

I spent three years working at CCH, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my career. The organization consistently supported us through annual cost-of-living and pay adjustments, which made a meaningful difference. I always felt valued and supported by my HAD team, manager, and director.
Beyond the professional growth, I built lifelong friendships there l, there was a genuine sense of care and community among the staff. This role shaped so much of who I am today, both personally and professionally, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity.

Emptying beer filled foul garbage containers, carrying them one handed behind my shoulder blade quite a distance to a dumpster that over filled. that was a typical day.
learned to turn over units for vacancy (clean, restore, remodel, 
replace fixture, appliances, paint. change locks.)
Management was arrogant and oppressive at the Alton location.
Hardest part of the job was knowing that i put in the labor of a ten man crew by myself and was paid "peanuts"
Most enjoyable was pride when residents thanked me and told me i was the hardest worker they had ever seen.
