My time here was for lack of a better term-garbage. 
I'm not going to sit here and break down every flaw with this agency, several other reviews already have done a great job of this. 
BUUUTTTT The pay, staff turnover, the hours, the high caseloads and the attitude from management that is basically "suck it up or go work somewhere else". 
Well, I'll tell YOU something, there are vacant positions in your rapidly crumbling agency that have BEEN SO for over a year in some cases. Do you think that this is a great place to work? 

Point blank: Programs that are vital to the community you are attempting to serve are running like a joke because someone's greedy, MANY someones perhaps. Some are in danger of not existing at all. 

At the end of the day, we are working for a social service agency in a small state. Social services/Social workers are to advocate against injustice, right? THE WAY YOU RUN YOUR AGENCY IS THE BIGGEST INJUSTICE OF ALL.

 I worked here for 6 months, and have made sure I have told every single social worker/student to steer clear. The word's getting around quick. No one wants to work here unless they have to or have it easy:  New grads gaining experience, underqualified and/or burnt out "professionals" and old withered bags who have been there forever are riding the gravy train of getting fat while said new grads bust their humps. 

Clean house or someone is going to clean it for you. Soon there won't be anyone left to work for your dump of an agency unless you FIX IT AND FAST.

LASTLY, A glaring example of how this place views it's employees: An annual "staff appreciation day" occurs at a bee-infested, disintegrating campground and YOU HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN FOOD! In other words, bring your own staff appreciation! To make matters even WORSE, if you don't want to attend, you're scolded by, once again, upper management (even though half of them can't even be bothered to go) via passive aggressive email and forced to utilize your vacation time. HA! SO to reiterate: a mandatory staff appreciation day with no food where you will be stung by bees and yelled at if you bat an eye. 

It's a horrible place to work. STRONGLY CONSIDER WORKING ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!

I worked here for five years and had the opportunity gain a diverse range of experiences between different programs within the agency, under the same program director for the majority of the time. I can't speak highly enough about the supervisors and staff within the children's behavioral health program, specifically. They care deeply for the staff doing this incredibly challenging work as well as each and every client that comes through their door. This team is incredibly special and if it weren't for factors outside of this specific team leading me to leave, I would absolutely still be there. My experience working here was negatively impacted by management outside of this program. We often experienced issues with pay, issues with health insurance - I was dropped by providers due to non-payment on my insurance companies end which was because of the way the agency managed our health insurance. Furthermore, the pay. Obviously none of us are in this field for the pay. But, when it is hard to make ends meet and you commit your life to this work, and are in grad school for it, it becomes a very difficult challenge to continue to face. The turnover I saw while working within this agency is horrible. Within my first 2 years I saw roughly 10 people leave one program, including 2 supervisors. That is a problem that trickles down and has adverse affects on children and families in ways that cannot continue to go unaddressed. This was not the only program to experience this high level of turnaround. I think that the problem is the CEO does not see the detrimental effects this has on the agency and the community at large. 

CCA is a large organization with about 50 different programs that serve the community of Northern RI.  There are a ton of different positions that vary quite a bit in terms of responsibilities, so I can only speak to my own experience in the time I've worked here.  The team I work with is incredible.  They work very hard and are so supportive of and close with each other; our department head and VP of our division are amazing and accessible if problems come up.  Like most non-profits there is often too much work and not quite enough money or staff, but we get generous benefits and holidays off and the work we do is important.  Staff are encouraged to use their vacation days and take breaks if they feel overwhelmed and in my experience, supervisors check in regularly to gauge how employees are doing, particularly during COVID which has presented new challenges for everyone.  Remote work is possible for almost everyone and CCA is supportive of making that possible, as well as biweekly COVID testing for all staff and advocacy for vaccines.  No workplace is perfect but CCA cares about its employees and clients and makes an effort to improve wherever necessary.  Many people have worked here for decades through multiple positions, as the agency will assist with various certifications and career growth.  I've learned a lot already and continue to learn more every day.  Overall a great place to work!

Ultimately, this is a pretty standard community mental health center in its unfortunate approach: the most acute, complex clients are served by the least skilled, least experienced staff, fresh out of school, because they're the only ones who will accept the LOW salaries, HIGH caseloads and ever-increasing demands to meet the needs of the grants that keep these places running, while aging, burnt-out managers bark orders and get substantially larger paychecks than those actually delivering the services that generate the revenue.

This is not to say they don't try. This is a much needed agency in a dire community, with some theoretically great programs to help the population. Unfortunately, the system holds the agency back from ever achieving greatness. The average tenure of staff here is about a year. Once some experience is gained, staff moves on to better things.

Its a fast paced stressful job, but i loved that role, it fit with my personality.  The problem was the upper and middle management.  It was like a 3 ring circus.  The managers were out to get you..gossip..they were the worse..they had their own agendas.  There was little to no support and you were treated horribly.  People held management positions that were not qualified in the least but they did it to save money.   Managers loved the power they had over their employees.  It was about power and control.  The benefits were good and the salary was okay.  I loved working with my clients,they were the best part of my job.   Its a fast burn out job but they were not there for you and did not recognize quality work and good employees who went the extra mile.  They lied to your face.  Thankfully you had your team to rely on.  If you work here, it will happen to you..some of the "masters" still work here and I am shocked.   People left all the time..happy employees do not leave their jobs.    I do not recommend working here...run do not walk..youre the next target.

What I enjoy most about this job is that every day is different. While some days I may be in meetings and compiling reports, other days I may be on the road seeing client's in their homes. I enjoyed the ability to create my schedule to meet my own needs, and those of my clients.
In addition, I was able to thrive on the opportunity to learn from ongoing professional development opportunities through inter-agency trainings and workshops, as well as those offered throughout the community and other programs.  CCA, (formerly Family Resources and Northern RI Community Services), has grown to be an agency that encourages staff to collaborate within programs in order to share resources and treat clients across programs in order to ensure best practice.

The overall experience definitely varies depending on where you are in the agency as they have many different departments. I worked as a case manager and was fortunate to have a great team and supervisor. Definitely a great place to get experience if you are interested in the field of mental health/substance use treatment. I learned more about mental health from working with the psychiatrists, clinicians, nurses, fellow case managers and most of all the clients than I ever could have in my formal education. The job was stressful at times as to be expected working in mental health but luckily I had a good team and supportive supervisor.  Generous PTO and weekends off in my position so that was a plus. Since it’s a non profit and Medicaid/Medicare payout rates are very low, the compensation isn’t as much as it should be for the type of work. Overall it was a rewarding experience and I will definitely miss this place as I move forward in my career. 

This agency had a wonderful feel to it prior to the merge of Family Resources and NRI. Work schedule is generally flexible which can be nice for employees with families. The work enviornment is very poor and not handled well by management at all levels. There is alot of favoritism and bad mouthing of other employees both by co-worker and managers, so make sure you are on the "in". 
The work they do for families and individuals in the community is wonderful, but the poor enviornment, low pay, high stress, and lack of quality support by managers is not worth it.
Since the merge there has been a huge shift in focus...it was once the quality services provided to clients and the needs/treatment of employees, now it is strictly money centered.
I would have agreed with the other reviews prior to the merge of the agencies, however it is a different story now.

There are a lot departments at CCA and I can only speak for my  children’s services team when I say it’s the most supportive team I have ever worked with. Everyone is so accepting of each other and we all learn from one another. We meet regularly to talk about our cases and we all seem to enjoy bouncing things off of each other and hearing each others feedback and ideas. Of course there are days and even weeks that are at super stressful, which is normal in this field, but being part of such a strength based team makes those stressful days and situations not as bad as they might be elsewhere. Supervisors are extremely supportive despite having large case loads of their own. Sure, we would all like to make more money as the pay is a bit low for the work we do and a few more people on the team would lighten the caseloads but overall, CCA, this this especially, is a wonderful place to work. 

Since I have started at the agency I have noticed the overwhelming amount of supervisor involvement. There is not a week that goes by where I am not asked by my supervisor or another one in the building about how I am feeling about my cases and if I need any help with anything. There is always someone to direct questions to. The caseload is also very manageable and I have never felt over worked. Additionally, the flexibility and benefits make up for the low wages. I think this is a great place to work and mostly a great place to learn. This job as case manager would be great for anyone but especially those that are new to the field. Because of the numerous programs that exist within the agency, there is always room to grow and learn new things about the field. Community Care Alliance is also constantly offering trainings and allowing its employees to advance and broaden their knowledge.
