Working here has been one of the most stressful and toxic environments I've ever encountered. A typical day as a care team nurse includes being blamed for the most minor inconvenience that happens between patients and staff. Not only are you underpaid, but you're also undervalued, and under-appreciated. The hardest part of this job is having to constantly keep your composure after patients or staff rudely disrespect you and the office manager does not have your back nor care to follow up with what happens. Upper management claims to have an open door policy, however, one complaint goes to 4 different doors before reaching the CEO. There is a lot of favoritism here. Image is the main concern of upper management. The chance of you advancing into a higher position is slim to none. NO ONE knows anything! Rules change hourly, there's always meetings that don't resolve a darn thing, management is clueless, dirty chairs, dirty waiting area, dirty rooms, dirty blinds, dirty carpets, roaches and ants, dirty bathrooms. Stay away! Trust me.Call center is a mess and they never answer the darn phone, referrals is a disaster, lazy staff, most nurses are not sympathetic (can't blame them) due to the demands of poor quality. Patients are known to curse out an employee & management does NOTHING about it. Billing is a mess & clueless (they even place the employees in collections even after that employee pays the bill for services rendered), management is terrible (the worst I've ever seen). Most doctors complain about everything. There's a few good people left and if the office is not careful, they won't be there much longer. Most of the centers need to get rid of everyone & start all over. Specifically Apopka center. The offices need better leaders that care about the staff and patients. Not just about collecting the check & almost nothing gets accomplished because you're too busy trying to resolve the mess around you.

A typical day at work included assisting employees with end-user and software related issues, developing learning aids, researching and testing software functionalities, and attending meetings. During my tenure, I learned that I enjoy facilitating the learning process, as well as, problem solving to resolve issues, and turning troubleshooting issues into training opportunities. Management, by choice, did not relate with or to staff, or customers.  For the most part, the majority of co-workers developed close working relationships that sometimes carried over to friendships outside of the workplace, especially those working closely together.  The hardest part of the job was being the face of my department, ultimately becoming a trusted confidant of many co-workers that I interacted with; so, carrying the burden of so many peoples issues, concerns, and complaints about the workplace was the most difficult.  The most enjoyable part of my job was, ironically, also the hardest part; I enjoyed working with such a diverse group of co-workers who trusted me enough to be open and honest with me, who trusted and respected my feedback, and appreciated my sincerity.  The co-workers and the relationships that were developed, more than anything, is what I miss the most.

Pros - Serves the underserved of Central Florida. Takes the time and effort to invest in centers that don't look like a traditional 'clinic' setting

Cons – Aloof and vacant CEO & Executive team. No interest in actual engagement with lower level staff.
Speaks out of both sides of their mouths.
Favoritism runs obviously through Leaders here.
Promoting and guiding those that they prefer regardless of work performance.
Work Ethics seemed to have flown out the window about 3 years ago.
Builds up the exempt level worker like they are a higher level and better than all others.
Salaries are absolute bare minimum - again, unless you are an executive leader.
Rather than giving employees actual $$ or other items for the holiday, executive give money to spend in company's store - which just puts money back in the company's pocket.
There are people that have worked for the company for over 10 years and are still sitting at 13.00 an hour.
 
Advice to Senior Management – Engage ALL your staff not just the ones that have an executive title. Understanding that it's your people on the floor everyday that are the blood of the company.People can make more money working at McDonald's or even Target than what they get paid working here.

I was a previous employee when they hired me on around 6 years ago I feel I wasn't properly trained I had to go with what I knew and teach myself. They benefits when I started was great but a new CEO took over and she was so cheap snitched everything away . No more company banquets , uniform allowance, continuing education, or benefit cards. The raises are far and in between the dental assistants start out at 12.00$ per hour horrible pay all of the work that they require for you to do. The computer system is very complicated and at every meeting they add on extra duties that became overwhelming. You spend more time completing computer work than treating your patients on top of that they want you to see more and more patients everyday . Come on be real .....they want to fired you for any little thing that's why this job is not secure if you do decide to work here make sure you have a back up plan.!

Working at this community health center was an absolute nightmare! Management doesn’t care about the staff, the patients, or anything besides covering their own rear ends. The place is a mess—chaotic, toxic, and completely disorganized. You're thrown into the fire with no support, no training, and no appreciation.

They overwork you, underpay you, and expect you to stay silent while they play favorites and sweep real problems under the rug. Burnout isn’t just common—it’s guaranteed. I watched good people get pushed to their breaking point and then tossed aside like trash when they couldn’t keep up. HR is useless, leadership is clueless, and the environment is downright abusive.

If you're thinking of applying here, don’t. Run in the opposite direction. No job is worth losing your sanity for—and this place will drain every last bit of it.

Community Health Centers provide medical care to those in the community who may or may not have insurance. CHC charge their patients without insurance on a sliding scale. I worked for CHC as a Call center nurse, where I triaged incoming calls for Family Medicine, Pediatrics and OB/Gyn patients, called in presciptions, provide lab results. CHC was a fast-paced and stressful environment. On an average day we would receive up to 500 calls a day and I would triage roughly 100 of those calls. CHC is a great employer that allows you to grow with the company and provide excellent care for the community.

This is a Community Health Clinic that serves a lot of low income patients. I really do enjoy providing care to underserved individuals who would otherwise not have any quality health care. I generally see about 15-20 people each day. My coworkers are very well trained and I enjoy them very much. The most enjoyable of my job here is the appreciation of the patients I serve. The most difficult part of my job here is when I am not able to give them the help they need.

Once you are hired, human resources gives an excellent orientation and provides extensive training until you are ready to work on the clinic floor. If you ever have any questions or problems in your job, it doesn't matter how little the problem is, management is quick to assist you. The pay is generous and the benefits are excellent. The working environment is like being a part of a big family.

Management is awful.  They treat you like you don’t matter. I thought that there would be caring people at a not for profit organization. I had left corporate America to help people and instead I found that senior pharmacy management only cares about profit not people.  The higher ups manage badly and don’t know how to talk nor treat people well. They have lost so many good technicians and pharmacists. I hope someone higher in the food chain takes a look at what’s really happening. 

As a single mother I absolutely love working at CHCL they have helped me in more ways than one! Anytime that I am needing off for an appointment for my son or myself it is never a issue or if I need to leave to go get my son due to him being sick it is never a issue! Everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand!

I also enjoy the patients I work with and enjoy knowing I am helping someone feel better either about themselves or helping them get out of pain!
