The job in and of itself is very rewarding. I loved playing my part with helping to heal my clients, guiding their family's and boosting the work morale. I purely enjoyed most members on my team. As with most mental health jobs, we do it, not for the money, but simply because we love what we do. This company has the potential to do far more good than it has. In my opinion, CHC has a deeply entrenched power hungry-fear based leadership dynamic that's keeping growth from happening. Some of the leaders need to do some self work to boost self esteem and confidence in themselves and to self assess to improve their management styles. Hateful and Fear based behaviors towards staff are a symptom of a much deeper issue. Honesty, integrity, dignity, wholesome morale, empathy, fellow-feeling, inclusivity and compassion are lacking towards its members from leadership unless, of course, you're a friend or favored. Being a hard worker with talent,  grit, integrity and compassion doesn't matter. No one is interested in hearing the truth and core issues. They'd rather ban you to silence you than to hear you out. That's where my disappointment lie. I used to think VERY highly of this company and it's CEO.  There are wonderful people who work here, even still, more open mindedness and a shake up in leadership would serve this company well.

I worked for Community Healthcore for many years in various roles. I worked hard & earned many opportunities along the way. I sincerely appreciate every experience - the good days & the not so great days too. A family friend told me when I first began work that it was the worker bees at CHC that carry the center & in many ways that is true. The hearts & compassion of the providers & supporting staff is incredible. The providers have very difficult jobs with clients who have significant life challenges in an industry that does not pay generously for staff or for services. CHC receives the blame for this & yet, it is the Legislature mostly that is in charge of this & all of us who elect them! Despite these challenges, the CHC management is mindful of compensation within these boundaries & the passionate staff work hard to help their clients. The paid time off & holiday schedule allows you to have a work-life balance. The benefits are very carefully managed to maximize the employee advantages & the retirement is excellent. I feel like my time here was a great investment in the work, but also in my professional growth.

Community Healthcore accepted me right out of college and supported me through my 2 years of internship toward my license. I gained experience, knowledge, skill, and mentored leadership. I advanced my career from entry level position to management within months of acquiring my license and the mentoring leadership remained in place for me my entire career with Community Healthcore. I went from Counselor Intern to Program Manager and was given opportunities to join leadership training classes. I was given space to work autonomously. I always knew I had support from the entire organization when needed. I felt Community Healthcore believed in me and my ability. They challenged me, they supported me, and they recognized me throughout my career. I received over 140 hours of continued education every year while on the clock and they made sure I was prepared to perform my duties. I strongly recommend anyone seeking a career in Human Service work and seriously want to be a part of a great team to apply for a position with Community Healthcore. 

For the work loads and daily stressors that most of the employees at CHC go through, the company does not pay enough. Most of the workers burn out quickly due to the high volume of clients, which in turn causes the turn over rate to increase drastically. Supervisors are very unprofessional and speak to employees as if they are beneath them. A lot of gossiping, back stabbing, and unnecessary attitudes are continuous at this job. Employees get overlooked a lot of times and once you have completed a certain degree you still have to wait between 6-7 months for a raise, which is suppose to be given immediately once transcripts are presented. Staff can sometimes be nice, depending on who you know. CHC doesn't seem to be there to assist clients with growth and development but more for the check.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They have a good mission and the thought behind the company working within the community is great.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The administration and being micromanaged. As adults we should be respected and allowed to do our work without constantly being micromanaged. If someone is unable to stay on task or complete their work,  then it should be correctly handled. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Except for being micromanagement through every task and unsupported, the work is important and rewarding.  The environment can tend to be very high school among the staff in certain departments. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working closely with clients to help them understand their mental health condition and learn skills to help them function within their environment.

My time at Community Healthcore so far has been positive. While there are certain things that have rubbed me the wrong way or I question, I have enjoyed working here for the most part. The work that we as clinicians do with clients is rewarding, but it can be very stressful if you don’t find a good system to keep up with the administrative side of the job. It’s seems like there is an issue with communication within management at times as sometimes one manager will say one thing, but another manager may say something else. There are other things within the company that I question. For example, we have to use our PTO to pay for holidays and other closure days. Overall, a good and rewarding place to work, there are just something I personally question. 

Community Healthcore is a great place for someone with a psychology background, but its turn-over rate is very high. Most of their Case Managers stay for around a year and move on. The work demand is very difficult during certain seasons. There is a very high demand for face-time hours, which is understandable, and often forgiven if you cannot make it. They require in the position of a Case Manager, Therapist Intern, in most cases to travel to the clients' homes, which will expose you to very uncomfortable, and even unbearable environments. 

I have never "not liked" this job, but I must be honest and claim that I am actively looking for something better, which will most likely happen to you if you can pursue better opportunities.

Their purpose and what they stand for. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Caseloads can be high at times and productivity is made the focal point. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Peaceful for the most part. Supervisors try really hard to keep up with the demands expected of them while training their teams effectively and getting their own work done. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Preparing for each individual client beforehand. Seeing clients, documentation, checking emails and returning calls. Providing referrals for clients and their families as needed. Adhering to any changes rolled down by upper management.

The hardest part of my job is dealing with management who does not properly communicate changes within the company but expects the staff to know about these changes. Management also does not have a back bone when it comes to standing up for their nurses. Many times decisions about admits are made due to political issues and not based on rather the patient is appropriate for our program or not. Also, not having a set of standards to follow on admission criteria. Admission criteria is bended and waived too much. Higher acuity patients are placed in our center that truly do not belong here to begin with.

I worked within the company for over a 1 1/2years and the overall job was not bad. The residents was not the problem it was management. Always picking on certain staff and complaining about any and everything. No matter what you did pertaining to the job in itself it was never good enough. I was unfairly terminated due to another team member. All evidence was clear in their faces and one of the managers even agreed with me and said it was not her overall decision and apologized instead of fighting for what was right. My line of work was within the group homes not in a nursing facility. So the experience elsewhere maybe different but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to work for their group homes at all.
