Even though the pay may not be great for a teller and you’re often expected to take on more responsibility the your job title and pay, it is overall a good place to work. Friendly atmosphere and excellent customers, and excellent co workers for the most part (there’s always a couple of control freaks or drama queens that throw fits because they don’t get their way anywhere you go). The company being cheap on raises and pay is probably the biggest drawback, and the fact that if you’re a teller then you’re expected to do the job of a CSR, head teller, etc. but not get paid any extra for doing more. Some of the policies seem to be stuck in time from the 70’s and 80’s, but overall the bank is just trying to protect itself, it’s employees, and their customers. Also, it seems like at times there can be “too many chiefs and not enough Indians”. But, where I work we’re super short handed, so it’s just a few tellers running the place. The company should do at least 2 raises a year and the health insurance is crazy expensive. It’s good, but it’s expensive. The retirement benefits are the real winner though. The retirement is amazing. Also, everyone is wondering why they can’t get anybody, but honestly if the bank would raise its pay, provide two raises a year, and lower the cost of its health insurance it would be a lot more competitive on the job market, especially when dealing with unemployment benefits. My direct management is made up of absolutely fantastic people willing to bend over backwards and help anyway they can if there’s any issues. That’s rare in a place and they would never have you do anything that they wouldn’t be able to do or have done during their time as a teller. Also, one of the heads of HR definitely shouldn’t have her job. She’s rude to employees and definitely unprofessional a lot of the time. Thank God I don’t have to work with her since she’s in Pikeville in the corporate headquarters because I wouldn’t tolerate someone talking to me the way that I’ve personally heard her talk to other people. Also, I feel like the company could give more/better bonuses and incentives.only one bonus per year IF the company reaches its goals and its around the amount of a regular check. No Christmas/holiday bonus. Although, the CEO of our company is an excellent person that sends us a birthday card with $20 and always buys us ham at Christmas. Very thoughtful and a very kind gesture that she definitely doesn’t have to do. 

So, overall good place to work. Very comfortable and accommodating within reason. Corporate policies on pay and other things NEED some improvement, but my chain of command is made of absolutely fantastic people. 

My typical day includes speaking with customer after customer in a timely manner to help them with their financial needs. I am required to soothe tempers and calm spirits and assure them that I will be able to assist them and rectify any and all issues they are concerned with. I enjoy speaking with the customers that are appreciative and patient. I also enjoy the challenge of taking the call of an irritated customer and applying certain verbal techniques and listening techniques that eventually help soothe their tempers. 
I have learned much about the programs, banking in general and working as a team in my customer service department. I am continually learning and will always be, since every situation I deal with is so unique. I am grateful for a supervisor who is always patient and helpful and would never turn his back on me when I needed him. I am happy I have co-workers who are willing to do whatever it takes to be helpful and assist and I want to be there for them as well. 
The hardest part of the job is a customer who is unrelentingly mean and you can see that it won't matter what you do or say, they will continue to have that kind of an attitude. In those cases, you still have to continue to be kind and patient with them and not take anything they say personally. The best part of the day is when there is some down time and you can joke and enjoy those around you. I am so grateful for a wonderful job.

The company as a whole is good. The problem is that people seem to be promoted just for years of service rather than by merit or ability. The pay is low for the amount of work that is done. The Manager in my department was always and hour or two late and took an hour and half to two hour lunch and left early most days. The Manager had no clue how to perform the duties of the department they supervised so they refused to address issues by new employees about a seasoned employee in the department. The manager would take credit for work done by the people that were supervised under them. The Manager never tried to make the culture in the department better. Instead they would punish employees when they spoke up about issues by doubling the workload on them to try and force the employee to quit. 

Like I said the Bank as a whole is a great place to work, however, I would not advise anyone to work in the Legal Department. Wait 10-15 years once some people are retired then the department should be drastically better. 30 plus people in and out of a department in a little over a decade should be a huge red flag to the HR Department.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 You must meet expectations to get a good rating. CEO and CFO act like they are the only ones that matter. They get Hugh bonuses in the mid $100 thousands while normal workers if you hit your goal maybe a 3% or lower raise. If you don’t hit your goal then 1% or no raise. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful and nerve wracking. Never be late even in blizzard conditions while corporate may close or open late and if snow starts during work hours the offices in KY will close early 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in office. Make plans of what we need to do. Have meeting with staff to go over what they need to do for the day. Open inside office and wait on clients and answer phones by the fourth ring or you get in trouble especially if it is from our District Office.

Opening the branch, making sure the night before balance matched the opening. Getting night deposits done and recorded, Ordered money and balanced the ATM. Customer service for customers needing to open accounts and make deposits and withdrawals. Opening safe boxes for customers and types of long term savings such as IRA's, CD's. At the end of the day balance drawer, and vault. Dual control to make sure branch is shut down properly and securely. Management was always interacting with what we were doing and interested in our needs and concerns. My co-workers were amazing and pretty much like family. The hardest part of my job would be around the holidays and sometimes if we were short staffed around that time. The most enjoyable part would be the customers that always came in.

I would perform daily transaction for customer regarding their bank accounts. I would also inform prospective customers of our products and how beneficial they can be. I would open accounts and grow relationships with others to ensure account security. While providing great customer service I learned how to approach different situations and personalities. With having co-workers from different parts of the country I learned to adapt and work well with others in a close setting. The hardest part of the job was growing to learn proper ways to teach the younger and newer employees the procedures and working with different paces of learning. That was also the most rewarding part of my job as well. I learned to grow personally and professionally.

Worked here a whole whopping 2 months.  I was stressed, treated less than because of my anxiety, the employees and supervisors are stuck up and snooty to the point of being unbearable. I did get an allowance and sent off to teller training where I excelled and was treated kindly and very well. Then, when I came back, I got treated even worse by everyone in the office I worked in. My supervisor set me up to fail and I fell for it. Ended up getting fired because I was given too many tasks at once and no one could be bothered to assist me which led to me failing to complete a task that was a security risk. I take ownership of my hand in my firing but they practically paved the road straight to it. 

Typically, assist with opening and closing procedures.  Federal and state laws and regulations must be studied and adhered to.  I get along with ANY type of person, therefore, I easily adapt.  I wait on customers in very stressful situations and strive to satisfy both the customer and my employer.  I work feverishly to provide new customers and referrals for the company.  I can immediately become an essential part of the team and strive to be a troubleshooter and problem solver.  I am willing to attend any training required to ensure complete and absolute completion and fulfillment of the duties and expectations required of me.

Very much enjoyed working @ CTB, I had the busiest drive-thru & worked it every day. Had the most transactions & was never out of balance. Enjoyed everyone I worked with & loved my customers. The only reason I left was because I wanted to do something else & the bank would not let me get off the teller line. I wanted to broaden my horizon. I was told I was too good to be taken off the teller line.  I started looking & found another job.

I did all transactions concerning a bank account, was very trustworthy.
I learned responsibly of other people money & bank accounts, learned to be a trust worthy person in every thing I do, no gossiping. Customers come first always.

Loved the work; computer work, customers, co-workers, always busy and multiple things to do; every day something new was learned and it definitely was not boring; the technology is ever growing and the bank is growing in leaps and bounds and keeping up with the changing needs of the customer; young and old.  Hardest part of the job was learning the new rules in the ever changing world of federal regulations being imposed on banks.  The most enjoyable was the positives you received from the customers when you made their day.
