My role includes training, assisting staff on the floor, direct support with residents, communicating with parents/schools, and several leadership responsibilities. 

Prior to CBH, I had 2.5 years of residential experience. I have been here for 1 year, starting off as a FT Day Guide and around 5 months into starting was given an opportunity to step into a leadership position. Although hesitant at first, I took on the role and do not regret that decision. Within the last 8 months I have been able to grow my clinical insight, leadership abilities and personally develop a better understanding of how to work in a high stress environment. 

Working in a residential setting can be difficult and having proper support and competent management is essential. I have decided to approach this job as a learning opportunity and am grateful for the support and team here. 

Management is a small team, at times spread thin but we all work together to do the best we can. I have seen a lot of change since being here and notice the effort in trying to uphold quality treatment for residents, sufficient training for new staff and supporting on going needs of present staff. I LOVE the culture with the staff, it is fun, light hearted and very supportive. 

The hardest part of this job is supporting with call outs, miscommunication at times and organization (specifically in an administrative sense and at times on the floor). 

The most enjoyable part is watching resident go from their intake to discharge and knowing you were part of the team to support that happening. The culture is fun and silly amongst staff. I also enjoy showing up each day knowing I will learn something new or be present an opportunity to push myself in some way. It’s highly rewarding towards my goal of pursuing grad school. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
After coming from an extremely toxic work environment, where executive leadership failed to support its most dedicated employees and lacked accountability in the most egregious way; Compass revived my desire to work in the mental health field. Working in residential is not for the weak, and working with teens adds an additional layer of strength required to do the job. No work place is perfect, however Compass showed me what a big difference it makes when leadership invests in their employees. Compass cares deeply about the teens served, but they also care deeply about their team. Evident in the ways they work around school schedules, family life, and unexpected crisis to accommodate their employees, Compass shows how important it is to be a workplace that actually cares about the people they hire. I would encourage anyone who is looking to make a difference in the lives of struggling teens AND feel a sense of pride where they work to apply at Compass. It definitely feels like family! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes the floor can be understaffed due to call outs. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture is very positive! The work environment is inviting, and peaceful.

Working at Compass has been an absolute blessing and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity. I came to the Farmhouse with no clinical experience; however I was taken in with open arms. I was given one on one supervision, clinical training and an incredible mentorship by prestigious clinicians. Not only have I had intensive clinical training here at Compass, but I’ve also been involved in the research Insititute! As a post-bac student preparing to apply to a PhD program, Compass has provided a huge amount of support and guidance through the process, giving me the necessary clinical and research experience that will set me apart from other competing applicants. I have never worked for an employer that cares so much about my work satisfaction, work life balance, career trajectory and goes above and beyond to make sure my needs are met. I could go on and on about how much I love Compass!

A stressful job with a severe lack of support. If you want/need a day/week off for whatever reason, good luck! Unpaid time off will likely be unapproved and you accrue a day of PTO about every three months as a FT employee. But upper management will take vacations every other month. 

I give this job a star because I received extremely invaluable clinical experience. Coworkers were also a highlight! Otherwise, the pay is not adequate for the amount of work and responsibility this role entails. 

Management is also slow to responding to employee feedback and often requests/suggestions will be dismissed/unfulfilled. There seems to be a severe disconnect between staff on the floor, clinicians, and management. Be ready for everyone to be allergic to communication and inadequate training. 

Compass is my dream job! The values are extremely employee-driven, which is in stark contrast to past jobs where things felt very centered around policy as opposed to the person. There is a lot of effort given to help support and develop each employee on an ongoing basis, and company culture is that of a family . I have felt extremely supported since day one and feel comfortable discussing any concerns I have. Most of all, I get to do what I WANT to do for my dream job: Work with clients and actually observe their lives changing for the better. 

While paperwork tends to be a hard area to navigate regardless of the job, there is real value placed in helping to make sure documentation is efficient and meaningful, especially when sharing progress with clients. I have never felt that my opinion wasn't valued or ideas not welcome concerning better ways to accomplish this!

Great benefits, this employer actually pays for a professional financial planner to meet with us annually and matches our 401k contribution up to 15%!!!  This past year, all of us with student loan debt got a $5200 loan payment made from the company towards our student loan debt, I have never seen this before.  I feel encouraged to have a work-life balance, we have 16 days of PTO and the company has steadily increased this every year I have been here.  I get paid to be off for my birthday and to attend a mindfulness retreat every year.  There are also so many side perks, like monthly family meals, and community building activities like stand-up paddleboarding together, going to happy hour, parties, pranks, and a pet-friendly work environment.  I feel like I have a family and a sense of purpose.

I've always been someone who likes to work in an environment that balances clinical excellence with living in community. Compass is just that - we are constantly looking for ways to improve while at the same time not losing sight of the importance of community and connection. I get to show up to work as "me" as opposed to feeling like I need to be someone I am not. When I decided to take the job at Compass, I finally felt "at home" and that I had found the community I had been yearning for. There's room for growth, teaching expereinces, trainings and help with becoming certified in DBT! I'm blessed to work for a company that I feel honored and valued and get to meet so many wonderful  teens and families. It's nice working at a clinic where the families say they feel at home, too!

This is the first employer I have had who genuinely cares about the overall wellbeing of their employees and will stop at almost no length to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of their employees.  Need to be trained? They got you! Need a day off? They got you! Need a partner in crime to pull a prank on another clinician? They got you.  Truly has been an amazing experience working here and I genuinely feel valued as a member of the team.
