CompuNet Clinical Laboratories is an excellent employer with excellent work ethics and attitude of outstanding, responsible service to the area. They maintain state of the art equipment and top notch management and quality staff. Workload is both challenging and rewarding. I have a sense of pride and worthiness having been employed with them.
      My career with CompuNet has given me an  extended family and multiple reference resources.  After 26+ years of service there have been many lifetime friendships formed. 
       The most challenging part of the job has been the introduction of non-medical designed equipment and methodologies into the medical lab environment. Manufacturer's desire our market field but are not equipped to provide the excellent service necessary to maintain their transformed "medical equipment" when needed. They fail to grasp an understanding of the immediate service necessity for quality patient care. We are spoiled by companies such as Coulter and Roche who do. 
     Most enjoyable responsibility has been in maintaining a tight QC program for Chemistry and the teamwork of a well managed lab. 
     My regret is that CompuNet found it necessary to cut many perks and traditions this year and needed to reduce staff because the medical profession is suffering in today's world. I pray that their decisions make it possible for them to prosper in the future.

As a clinical microbiologist at Compunet I enjoy everyday at my job. Each day provides a new challenge. The challenge may be a difficult organism to identify or an unexpected parasite. Sometimes the challenge is our high volume and the demand for efficiency. I work with people who are passionate about what they do and am enjoy being surrounded by people who teach me something everyday. My coworkers are my teammates and a respect and appreciate them. My managers are brilliant, demanding and flexible and I hope to learn from their skills during my path to management one day. I also like that my managers include team members in some decision making and explain as much command decisions as possible. We work until our task are done each day and are expected to complete them without getting over time. I am also assigned extra duties to include supply management for the department. We have regular continuing education opportunities which supports my desire to learn and grow continually.

I worked at the Miami Valley location for a year. It was a great experience to all types of patients and kept my skill up. You will earn alot of skills and experience there. But the managers and team leaders do not know how to do their jobs. They are completely understaffed with employees dropping like flies because of the work conditions. You will have to learn how to stick some days without all of your equipment because of poor restocking. It does not pay well and after your 90 day 50 cent 'raise' it's almost impossible to get another one nor advance. The hand held computers are always broken and so are the carts. Time off is hard to get and doesnt accrue very fast.Also if you work there get a hardcopy letter of recommendation/reference. Cause apparently it's against Compunet policy to give you one if your new job calls them for one. At least this location is a long way from being a well-oiled machine.

Within the #9 Years that I was employed by CompuNet, I developed a Confident Routine while being a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant, I became an asset within the Company. My Professional & Motivating Skills has prepared me to move on. My Total Phlebotomy Years of Experience consists of #13 yrs. During Shift Change, daily communication was a must before & after the shift would start. I completed assigned tasks during my shift and would stay over if needed. In addition too, covering shortage of staff on different shifts routinely. The most enjoyable part of my job was my Positive Responses within work that needed to be done on a timely and continuous basis. I work great with my Co-Workers....  The hardest part of my job was having to manipulate information.  Being a Specimen Processor became very difficult since training was not offered originally.  Troubleshooting became a daily Activity. As well as having to balance out all communication skills at hand....

In the beginning of my time at Compunet I worked at one of the larger hospitals and I really liked my job. I learned a lot, my trainers were very good and patient. Then covid hit as well as a lot of employees left which made it near impossible to try to catch up with the amount of patients that would need drawn. It was always you need to work faster, when you’re doing the best that you can and you’re made to feel your best is not good enough. I started to lose my hair and throw up before every shift because I dreaded it so bad, hours were terrible. I did like making an additional 30 % in shift diffs which was almost 5$ more an hour. It wasn’t worth staying for, insurance was terrible very high deductible, vision insurance and dental were awesome and very cheap so I appreciated those. It’s a very overwhelming job and they need to pay more in order to make it worth people’s time. 

Had a flood the beginning of the year and instead of helping the employees they decide to micromanage everything instead of addressing any actual issues. Everyone wants to blame other people and make the environment incredibly toxic.  Upper management has no idea what they are doing. They make random rules out of no where that make absolutely no sense, and when you try to discuss that with them, they just tell you to stop asking. They have refused to give us a bonus or any type of compensation for sticking around during the EXTREMELY stressful time that remodeling after the flood has been. At the last quarter staff meeting, they promised all of these initiatives to help with employee retention (shout outs from managers, gift cards, etc.) and have implemented NONE of them. Everyone in my department is looking for a new job. I am so stressed out here, it is effecting me physically. 

The work done by CompuNet Clinical Laboratories is pride worthy as they are dedicated to ensuring the patient results of the testing being performed are of quality. Every staff member knows the importance of the mission where every patient is the focus promoting longer, healthier lives within the community we serve and abroad.

As a small regional reference laboratory, the benefits are fair, but could be better as with any smaller company with marginal means. The work environment is modest, yet modern with the most up to date medical testing instrumentation. Staff get the opportunity to migrate to many different types of roles within different departments which makes the work fresh if they choose or there are long standing roles for those that want stability without change.

What is the best part of working at the company?
CompuNet Histology is a terrible place to work. Poor embedding and cutting, resistant to technological upgrades and ineffective management. Poorly trained grossing techs masquerading as Path Assistants, no one is made to clean up after themselves. Just a real pit.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Inefficient management who thinks they know it all, yet don’t even have any common sense.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Extremely poor, very little integrity to do the right thing for the patients.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long and stressful. It’s always some new micromanagement issue instead of addressing the real issues.

The company is a actually a good company to work for and also learn from. I learned over the years of being there how to be more professional. I also learned how to handle my bad situations in a more professional mannerism. They also taught me how to be a good leader and be able to teach others the knowledge i have so that they can suceed i the company as well. Yes we were understaffed alot on third shift and it did bother us but that also taught me and my coworkers how to work as a team which i love to do.Working as a team with my co workers was fun and made a bad situation look not so bad.

Management goes above and beyond here. They actually “walk the walk” when it comes to their open door policy. I’ve never had an issue getting a meeting with any one of my managers and they’ve always been very receptive to whatever it is I had to say. 
Any time I was having an issue or I thought things could be improved in the lab, I just told them. I didn’t spend hours worrying about how I would say it or what effect it would have on my job, because it doesn’t. They’re not going to fire you just for bringing something to their attention.
I think it’s because they don’t take anything you say personally. The culture here is very growth-oriented. So if you have an idea for how things can be done better, they’re more than happy to hear it.
