I enjoyed the first month of my job, but it was challenging to work in an environment where HR had recently quit and the role remained unfilled for months. I later found out that the previous HR employee had left because of the management's constant berating and mistreatment. My colleagues ostracized me, and the management was absent most of the time, which made it difficult to get support. The micromanagement was overwhelming, and the overall work environment was non-supportive. I heard that many people had retired due to the pandemic, and a new management team was in place. Although some of my colleagues were dedicated and focused on helping their students and callers, others seemed to use their power to make others feel miserable. 

Learned a lot about the retail business and how and what is involved in not only running a the business but also working with up to 50 volunteers and other staff members. Most enjoyable and rewarding experience in helping the community grow and improve with our services.Being a fast paced environment at times did make it challenging but it is rewarding to know that as a team we managed .


This is a stressful job that is emotionally demanding. You will be pushed to the limit and need to take care of yourself by learning to leave it at the door. However, it is phenomenal to work in a such a fulfilling field. Great flexibility but understaffed. Always chance for extra hours and they work with college students around their schedule.

If you are looking for a job and just trying to get to work to make some money and willing to take whatever comes your way, think long and hard before you agree to work on the road because it will bite you in the butt later but if you can manage it its a good job to have.

Coworkers are mostly good, some being what feels like condescending? Ample support. But don’t expect any raises (even after extensive time working there). Pay is low, the health insurance options are expensive and not great. The work can be mentally exhausting, and often under staffed. But some days it’s “slow.” They’re flexible with scheduling. Often felt like I was being micromanaged.

Great learning environment. I was able to educate myself more on the obstacles students faced with dealing with college admission process.  The other workers there were excellent at what they do as well. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming but the result of students college is that much gratifying.

The very top of the organization has its priorities in the wrong place. The mission is well meaning but the execution and permission to execute aren’t there. No one in HR or even the executive director know what half the organization really does.

Don't work there if you value your mental health. Management simply squeezes people until they are burned out and leave. Great co-workers devoted to helping people in crisis.

Contact is a great company to work for with support from supervisors in order to be the best counselor or supervisor you can be.  The work gives you the opportunity to help others and change lives, which is fulfilling and heart warming.

I worked with Contact for a little over a year. I enjoyed the people I worked with, the job duties and the support I was given. The pay was appropriate and the work was busy, but well worth it. A great company and work environment to be a part of.
