the company is a decent company. the owners are wonderful people with great intentions. there are certainly worse places you could work.  they have really tried to improve the corp. atmosphere and renovated the building, but there is a huge disconnect from the theoretical management style (EOS) and the actual relationship between management and the employees that do all the actual work.  management has no idea if their employees are totally happy or totally bitter.  they don't really want to pay for talented people. even a little. and management seems to have a very difficult time identifying who their talented people are.  they want to pay entry level wages and hope they stumble upon a diamond in the rough. many people in the corporate office like their actual work and are good at it, but absolutely hate their jobs because the company constantly tries to get the job done with understaffed departments placing unnecessary and very stressful burdens on good employees. when i left i had first hand knowledge of entire departments that were trying to find new jobs.  the people that get hired here and love it are people who graduated high school and are just looking for a decent place to work and steady income.  talented people with a brain need not apply.  if you went to college, this place should be looked at as the first stop in your career and nothing more. do not expect to have any loyalty to the company reciprocated.  expect no more than a 2.5% raise ever, unless you get promoted. it doesn't matter how much money you saved the company, or what processes you helped improve, or any other great things you might have accomplished over the prior year, you're getting a 2-2.5% raise. if you were a total moron and didn't do anything even marginally good, you'll get a 1.5% raise.  so the difference between being a total bum and an all star is like $250/year come raise time.  what is the point? i worked for this company for a long time and there were good parts i really enjoyed.  most of the good was the satisfaction taken from being good at my job.

I would rate this company lower than a 1 star but that's as low as you can go on here. Being an owner operator mean that your truck must always keep moving, but under this company it only works if you are one of their favorites otherwise you will have consistent days of hearing "no work today try back tomorrow”. They may say no forced dispatched but when you give all your good loads to your lease purchase drivers then it really is forced dispatch. Now I prefer local work, so I can be home daily, but I don't expect to be "home daily" because there is no work, or all the work has gone to your favorites. 

Not to mention every settlement week there is always some type of error with your payment. Need be some ridiculous chassis chargeback that's incorrect or some deduction that you never authorized like fuel hwy tax or bobtail ins, which is very hard to get back if at all, even when they know they've made an error and can clearly see it. Overall my best advice to you is to stay far away from this company and spare yourself the headache. If you choose otherwise and sign on with this company be prepared to have no resolution to any issues you have within the company because no one cares which is truly a reflection of the leadership at the top and just poor all around business practices.

Management is scattered. Reaching out to HR yields nothing but HR sending you right back to the issue (the manager in this case.) Company is very corporate and management focused.  Most benefits and perks go there. They'll boast about these perks, leaving the field jealous. Singling out "bad" employees. Allows benefits and perks to a few at terminal levels, but not to the rest. Alienates certain employees. Nothing is planned, nothing is organized. Your work isn't your own and is often overridden and redone. It is possible to be scolded by management only to have it walked back due to miscommunication and a lack of knowledge of the operation. No flexibility to work from home when you have a family emergency. Working from home only when it benefits the company. 

Management shows heavy favoritism to certain office staff. Favored employees are acknowledged and credited for well done work even on accounts that do not belong to them or which they have not worked. The employees who actually handle the accounts are not acknowledged at all by upper management. I guess Management sees what he wants to see.

Some employees are overworked and stretched far on many accounts while others are not. One  employee consistently gets and makes personal calls all day long every day and yet nothing is said while other employees are struggling to cover busy phones lines.

Management  will change your job overnight without notice, then promise you another position that is then given to someone else.  Straight up lied to you. Then push you to do more.

Very unfair practices throughout. TOXIC atmosphere at best.

Typical corporate cut-throat atmosphere.  The people in the cubicles work hard, but are hardly ever rewarded or even recognized.  They encourage a culture where job security is nonexistent, therefore there is a lot of tension between departments.  One of their favorite things to do is to punish good workers by giving them even more work to do, often in unrelated departments.  Training for new hires is pretty much also delegated to the people in the cubicles and is minimal at best.  Communication with upper management usually consists of a string of unanswered emails, as they are never available to talk (so much for their "open door policy").  RUN don't walk away from this place.

Lots of employee turn over internally and with owner-operators. Recruiting is not honest with o/o on the loads/runs/routes that are available, which causes high driver turn over. The company does not hold anybody that works internally accountable for any actions. Terminal was/is poorly managed, all the way from top levels of management. No support to be had when trying to do job. Promised bonuses and pay raises that did not happen. Staff treats drivers poorly and dispatchers favor drivers. Driver pay is never accurate, terminal gets upset when having to fix their own mistakes. Drivers have to wait a long time to get their escrow back, if they get it back. A lot of false promises are made to employees and drivers. All over terrible place to work. 

I've been with the company for almost 8 years and still going strong! There can be stress in transportation and logistics. That is part of the industry... However, when you stop and realize how rewarding it is to have meaning in your work knowing you are a part of a global supply chain, it makes it worth while. ContainerPort Group is the best Job I've ever had. Growing with an industry leader such as CPG affords for professional connections, and exposure to industry groups and networking. The company invests in their talent. Their core values matter to them. I will forever value the relationships and connections I've made with drivers and staff alike.

This is a very fast-paced environment, so if you don't handle stress very well, ContainerPort is not for you. The management is very knowledgeable about the industry, but they do not understand how to actually manage a group of people. One thing that I consistently heard from new employees (and experienced first hand in working with them) is that they felt like they were not trained properly. It makes for a very difficult work day.

The most enjoyable part of my job would be my co-workers and the laid-back atmosphere ( wearing jeans everyday) 

Hardest part of my job would be recruiting owner operators.  Big difference between company drivers and owner operators. I leave work everyday with a knot in my stomach along with showing up with a knot in my stomach. 

Management - Never knowing if your truly doing your job correctly.  One day I feel confident the next as if the rug has been ripped out from underneath. 

I have learned a great deal when It comes to paperwork and documents to keep a driver compliant..
