A typical day goes as follows:  I greet my client, pet if he/she owns a pet. Spend a few moments talking about the clients day. Reiterate client's activities preferences to follow-up on for the day. For example. Going for a walk/drive, new recipes for baking/cooking, arts/crafts. Sometimes talking /listening is a great comfort.  Next, I perform housekeeping from a list provided. Infact,  the information relevant for your client  is located on the app. that will be documented and a summary at the end. I find it helpful to document as I go. I'm mindful to record  changes in behavior, skin issues, decreased appetite, emotional issues, and how the client responded that day. Companionship plays a critical part in which provide; I offer choices of activities along with my client's preferences. It's not always the activity that's meaningful but having someone to spend time with. This is what gives others hope, purpose,  and increases an individual's quality of life. Moving on, I spend a few moments regarding the visit with my client and possibly activities for next visit. If there's issues I notified the office soon after clocking out.

Punching out at the end of the day. There is literally not a single good (definitely not “best”) thing about working here

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing I had to be there for 8 hours with inept, unsuited management who viewed medicare fraud as a completely acceptable and encouraged practice as long as their licenses weren’t connected. Just walking in the door starts the stress cascade. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
GHETTO and grotesquely unprofessional. Clique-y and catty nursing managers who were absolutely clueless and very obviously there solely for the paycheck. Equally unqualified administration who just appeared to continue to “fail up”. Social hour (x8) trumps patient care and the environment is a chaotic unstable mess because there is no discipline of line staff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A leisurely stroll through h*ll

The worse thing about this place is management. They give 2 cents about the aides. You can be the best aid go above and beyond but the very first time you slip or make a mistake they will fuss and write you up or fire you. No matter how many years you have been there. The place can't keep staff. From aides to therapy to desk managers to ADONs to DON even up to administration. There is always new people. That alone should tell you something. They make false promises. They say they will pay $25 and hour for anyone who will work for them during "desperate times" but then you have to fuss just to get it. The pay is horrible. Even your co workers are lazy because they don't care bcause the management treat them like dirt. Basically everyone walks around with an "issa job" attitude.

From all the long term care companies I have worked in, this company has a good approach to treating staff well and giving us good benefits. My managers were very understanding when i had to take time off for my children and gave me a flexible schedule. The conditions were very good and allowed me to learn my job as an aide and even encouraged me to become a nurse which I did. I was sorry to leave the Continuum family but my husband had a new job in Florida so we had to move. I would recommend to anyone to work at this company. Thank you for all that you did for me!!

When I first work there, it was all agency. Now its mostly us and 3-4 agency staff that come in. Its hard to manage everything with all the education they are given; but everyone is working together for the best interest of our residents. The educator stays on the floor with and helps us in the moment issues. I find the administration staff very supportive. We have 5-6 aides on each floor. sometimes even 7. Therapy helps with the adl care. Activity is with us in the dining room during meals. I look forward to coming to work

What is the best part of working at the company?
Everything it makes me want to continue my education.  I want to get my masters  in health care management. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
not being able to do enough.   I have to work overtime sometimes.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very friendly.   Everyone helps each other. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I teach and help the students as well as do paperwork and talk to parent on phone about goals for students.

a typical day at work consist of me answering phones and filing any paper work they needed filed if the shift before me wasn't able to file. i made sure visitors signed in when the arrived and signed out when they left.
management was amazing they were very happy but serious when needed. they were all so good to the residents.
the hardest part of my job was only getting 16 hours a week
the most enjoyable part was talking to the residents when ever i had the chance and meeting there friends and family members to ensure them they where taken care of.

The population I work with.   Wide variety of disorders.

Management.  Staff shortage.  Lack of resources.

Low morale.  High staff turnover

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Treat up to 15 residents a day.  Complete paperwork.  Attend care conferences.  Complete care plans

My job as a social worker is very rewarding because I get to be apart of individuals and families lives that need my assistance in any form. A typical day for my position will be attending morning meeting and gathering all the information I need for my residents and those who will be coming in. What I enjoy most is meeting the new residents who come into the facility to hear their back story and giving us their trust that they will recover greatly and taken care of well during their stay.

When I started working at the Wanaque Center six years ago, I enjoyed it very much but in the last two years the company was sold and the new owners cut the benefits and created a very stressful working enviroment. I would go home everyday exhausted and miserable.I stayed for 6 years because I loved working with the residents. The management does not care about the staff or the residents only profit.
