Having worked in several different programs, one constant other than the big disconnect between upper management and front line workers has been the ability of middle managers to be an island unto themselves with no accountability. One manager's only true skill was to hone in on your deficits while being dismissive of the work you do even when above and beyond. If you are older and more experienced, you will feel like youre being managed by children who only care that you make them look good. If a manager doesn't favor you beware of being given assignments designed to fail especially after they do not train for everything but you often fend for yourself then made accountable for what you weren't taught. This was especially true under the Vets program where the uptight and judgemental manager did not have any ability to inspire greatness but rather was an uptight micro-manager even on things such as how long you spend in the bathroom. Most co-workers were great. The 2 managers who did inspire you to excel I encountered did not last long as they burned out. If you're the type to keep your mouth shut then you can excel. If you express an opinion based on your expertise that a manager doesn't agree with then your days are numbered. It's no wonder that after the employee satisfaction surveys, lack of communication was top on the list.

-A typical day at work is I come in and read the log notes on all the clients to see what type of day I may have (dr. appt. shopping, etc). Myself an another staff pick up the clients from day program, return home and provide them with snack. I may need to assist in a protective hold after snack due to an overly stimulated client until the excitement of the afternoon calms down. During downtime I due paperwork, prep dinner, and I or another staff will get meds ready. Pm ADLs are taken care of and around this time I complete log notes  and get ready to head home.
-I've learned how to work with a larger number of coworkers and be more patient at work. I've also learned that communication is the key to successful teamwork.
-My manager is very easy to get along with. She's hands on, follows through and is always reachable. Whenever there's an issue she assures that it's taken care of.
-My co-workers are great individuals. They're good at what they do and enjoy doing it. It can be seen by anyone that walks into our facility. We make a great team.
-The hardest part of my job is doing protective holds. It can happen at anytime, in the calmest moment. It could be 20 minutes before you go home and you end up there for an hour longer than you anticipated.  
-Being able to work with so many other people that get along and work so well together in order to ensure the safety and well being of our clients

This company quality of service use to be above and beyond for the individuals that they serve. Once upper management changed, so did their values. Communication is poor, job security is not there, and if you are in management, be prepared to be forced to work countless hours. There is no proper leadership nor support and benefits are terrible as well. Imagine working and giving your all from the time that you were hired and during this pandemic with COVID-19 and do not receive any appreciation for it. Being in this field for over 15 years, this is by far one of the worse companies to work for. They do not care about the individuals needs or well being. They will hire anyone without the right knowledge, skills, nor background in this field. Recruiters are terrible and will take over two months or more before you would begin to work for Continuum. The lack of communication with orientation and training is poor as well, many people would go to orientation/training and it would be canceled at the last minute, without any notice. I would not recommend this company to anyone. You would probably be treated better working at Walmart or Amazon. 

Typical day of work is based on the monthly schedule.  As a CSA I am able to add activities to the schedule based on what clients desire to help integrate them with the community.  
I am afforded opportunities to educate myself on the population I work with and invited to attend non-mandatory workshops on interesting topics such as culture, ethics etc.
Management is very good, I am able to talk to my supervisors about new ideas and provided I have the will to execute them, I am encouraged to do so and given adequate resources to complete them.  
Co-workers are very good as well.  We work as a team and support each other.  This not only makes the job more enjoyable, but also helps the clients get the best possible help due to our strong communication.
The hardest part of the job is motivating individuals to do things which are essential for them, such as cleaning and exercising, after extended hospitalizations where these tasks were either not asked of them or done for them.  
The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing someone do something new that you have never seen them do before.  Seeing a person begin to realize their potential can be moving.

This company was the worst from the very beginning of my employment. From being locked into a 36 hour covid freeze, to being passed around from house to house because of staffing shortages during covid outbreaks. 

The Baltic Sprague house  opened short staffed with long term RI psychiatric hospital patients. RI is closing this hospital and setting them up in CT houses.. we had to drive to RI for medical and medications. 


They hired staff that didn’t have a clue of what they were doing, ( preschool teacher) ( restaurant workers)  nor did the Regional and Clinical director. Safety of staff and residents on a town wide level became the issue for me.  
Along with my quick exit when I went to upper management about the treatment of clients. This company needs a UNION in the worst way. 
Management will hire their friends with no experience to cover there poor choices. 

Beware ! if you do not have a mental health background or worked with long term mental health patients or you are triggered by any extreme complex clinical diagnosis that can be violent and mentally exhausting skip this company. They are taking on RI finest mental health patients! Good Luck! 






A typical day at work includes me administrating client's meds, making sure they eat sometime I prepare meals for them. I usually prompt the client's to take care of basic hygiene (brushing teeth, bathing). I also make sure clients have transportation to and from doctor's appointments and schedule future appointments for them because a lot of them aren't capable of doing so. Most importantly, I make sure clients are living in a safe environment and I make sure to meet all their needs, questions or concerns. The hardest part of my job sometimes is getting the clients to cooperate, most of them are stubborn and want things done their way only. The most enjoyable part of my job is building a bond with my client and earning their trust.

Lunas Path is a chaotic environment. There are some really great people who work there but it’s a shame that most don’t stay because of the toxicity in the work environment that management knows exists. The pay is low. Staff coverage is short. There is the presence of a high school clicky environment.  The most enjoyable part of the job is serving the clients and their families and having the opportunity to have worked with great team players.(they are far and few in between)There was a presence of high turnover constantly and constant gossiping. Low morale. Favoritism by management. Work load not even across staff in the same position. Lack of on-call support. Lack of support by the assistant program director. Lack of guidance and support by management when you start here. 

 I can honestly say it's been an incredible experience. From the very start, the agency has been supportive, compassionate, and truly dedicated to providing top-notch care for its clients. The management team is always approachable, and they consistently go above and beyond to ensure both employees and clients are happy and well taken care of. 

The training and development opportunities here are excellent, allowing me to grow in my role and expand my skills. I’m constantly impressed by the professionalism and kindness of my colleagues, who work together to create a positive, caring environment. We’re encouraged to form strong relationships with the individuals we care for, and it's clear that the agency values empathy and respect in every aspect of its work.

Overall, working for COC has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience. The agency truly prioritizes the well-being of its clients and staff, making it an amazing place to work and grow professionally.

When I started at Continuum I had my masters in mental health counseling, but I was having a hard time finding a therapist positions. I was hired as a Community Support Assistant which is a Associate degree level position. They knew I had my masters degree and they refused to promote me. I applied to be a case manager which is a bachelors level position and denied me the position to give it to someone outside the agency. They claimed I didn't have enough experience. After that I was fed up and it motivation me to find a master's level therapy job and I did, so I left. They love to underemploy people with advance degrees. I also applied for some management positions and they tried to make me settle for some supervisor position that only paid like 35k when I was making more as a therapist.
