Source is not a long-term landing pad for those who either don't like to work, or aren't willing to learn and advance in their career. It's also not a place for you if you're not willing to accept change.

If job security, a steady flow of overtime, and arguably the best supermarket refrigeration training in the industry is something that appeals to you, I highly recommend jumping on board.

As for pay - Source pays their employees based on job performance and professional development. If your job isn't important enough for you to continually strive for perfection and/or grow both personally and professionally, your raises and advancement within the company will reflect as much. If, however, you are a skilled tradesman and take your job seriously, there is virtually no limit to your earning/advancement potential.

Benefits are at least equal too, if not better than most companies in this trade. The health insurance is phenomenal, with Source picking up the majority of the monthly premiums. 401(k) retirement is currently $.50 paid by the company for every $1.00 put into retirement - not huge, but not terrible considering this economy.

Vacation accrues based on time with the company - 1 week for the first year, 2 weeks for year two, and increases every year or two thereafter. Again, not great, but not horrible.

We have 7 paid holidays per year - the standard 6, plus the day after Thanksgiving as well.

Another huge plus in my opinion is not having to fill out paper invoices. Gone are the days of having to write up an invoice on carbon paper and then track your payroll hours separately. All invoices are type written on a handheld, signed by the customer, and payroll hours automatically set to the time card folder in your handheld. Completing a weekly time sheet is as easy as hitting a button and signing your name.

Truck inventory is tracked via your handheld as well. Generally speaking, when you bill a part to a customer, a replacement part is shipped out to you. No need to run all over town restocking your truck before 'on call' weekend.

Before I was hired, Source flew me 1/2 across the country for an interview. Less than a week later they offered me a job, which came with a several thousand dollar relocation allotment (after taxes!).

Twice a year Source offers their technicians the opportunity to attend an intense, week-long training session at the home office in Anaheim, CA. The company pays to fly you to training, pays to set you up in a nice hotel, pays for your meals, and pays your weekly salary. Then, Source offers you a raise when you pass the follow-up written test and subsequent field evaluation. Personally, I am unaware of any supermarket refrigeration company that goes to this extent to equip their technicians with the knowledge to succeed in this trade.

Yes, you will work a lot of hours. Yes, you will be on call one weekend a month (more or less depending upon the area). Yes, you will work your butt off during the summer months. But such is the life of a supermarket tech - no matter which company you choose to work for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great co-workers, leave home and go directly to the first service call. Contacting dispatch is super easy and they take care of anything with your day to day job responsibilities. I will say the process of completing work orders, having work orders made, receiving Purchase orders for parts and materials for work orders is a super smooth and easy process. By far the best dispatchers and company process I’ve had since being in this trade for 10+ years. You won’t find a better place to work in my opinion. They take great care of their employees and I wish I would have worked here along time ago but it took me working for some bad companies to realize what a truly great company is. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I don’t have any stressful parts when it comes to working for this company. We have a great office staff that makes my job super stress free so that allows me to focus on the task at hand as a service technician

Great work environment with great people and the culture is awesome 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dispatched to my first service call directly from home every day and then drive directly home after completing the last work order of the day.

lots of private owned companies hiding behind a large growing name, no advancement opportunities. techs needed to stroke egos! 

the job requires a strong mind. you'll constantly be broken down and discouraged if you do the right thing, there is no encouragement, your only told what and how. you make any mistakes there not forgiven. do a good job its not good enough. man at the desk does it better and everyone wants the desk

sometimes you'll work 12 days straight and management would not even notice. 20-30 hours at a time nights and weekends stroke the right ego and you can brake all the rules that's what you were hired for

rules are set by corporate office... branches do things there way. if your not wanted they'll be sure your aware of it to get you to leave. you can transfer to another branch and see if you fit in there. lots of heads turned its a big party

this is more less a HVACR franchise, private businesses working through a corporation that keeps them in business landing more customers with there big name allowing the private owned companies hiding behind the name to push technicians around while dominating the markets and controlling there wages- egos

paid training to advance to a position your already in after learning the things you already do every day to get a raise

I have been with CoolSys for almost 2 years and would love to provide insight in to my experience so far. I joined the organization when they were going through a period of change. They were searching for new executive leadership with a goal to make CoolSys a place someone would want to come and work at. I resonated with that message.  In my time, we have a new CEO, CFO, CPO and CIO. Now that might sound like something to be taken in a bad way, but it is the opposite. They have put in place strategic leaders that work towards the goal they hired me with. Like any change and transition, things haven't always been smooth, but I can assure you that they are done with the best intent and impact to our associates so that they may thrive and grow within the organization. I have personally worked with all of the new leaders on initiatives that I have heard directly from associates to make CoolSys a better place to work for all, while making the benefits package more competitive and forward thinking. I believe this organization is continuing to make leaps and bounds in becoming a leading employer in our sector, and I can't wait to celebrate when that day comes. 

The work life balance was very good. The pay was alright, there is a lunch break offered but not required, you can eat at your desk. They don't care how much overtime you get as long as you get all your work done.
A typical day is working with the office staff to determine what the best plan of action is for dispatching service technicians to different jobs.
This may be a personal one-time situation but there was little to no official training, for the first month I shadowed the person who had been filling the role while they worked another position, the training videos that I did have access were not helpful considering they didn't give me a way to use the tools they were training on. I only was able to work confidently on my own just before they downsized and got rid of my position without any warning.
Hardest part of the job was figuring out who to send where and making the schedule for the next day.

Job security here is not good, every little thing makes it seem like someone is going to get let go.

Overall, it was a nice job and good place to work aside from the sheer amount of AI generated content within the company and the lack of job security.


They snuck in a “6 months contract to hire policy” AFTER i verbally accepted the offer. “It’s just how we do things.” Accepted on good faith.

 Despite repeatedly asking about conversion, they did not offer to convert after 8 months of being the #1 or #2 highest performing recruiter since Day 1 the entire 8 months I was there. 

Toxic Sr leadership. Nepotism and dreaded r-word run rampant across hiring throughout the country. Zero support on your behalf from your management. Company culture is to cater to individual hiring managers  instead of utilizing best practice across the board (try doing that with 30+ hiring managers across the country on your plate).

No benefits, paid time off, nor paid holidays during contract period. (All which were used to woo me in during interview process)

Heard through company networks that (after I left abruptly with no notice to accept a FT direct hire opportunity with full benefits, PTO, and paid holidays) that they learned their lesson and converted the rest of the talent team promptly. Glad they learned their lesson to refrain from taking advantage of good, hard working employees who are giving 150% of their time and effort and working 12+ hour days, often on weekends, on salary alone.

Typical work day is 8 to 10hr days, expect the branch manager to call and question you about your work as well as to check you on email notifications, every day you are obligated to watch a safety video from "5 minutes to power" and input lunch times even when is not taken due to work loads, if you do not expect a write up warning from manager, also very reluctant to approve employee PTO's, you are not allowed to use PTO whenever you'd like, and when you do get approved for sick days, company obligates you to use your PTO hours instead of sick hours as well as bad talk about you behind your back from your manager to others within the company

Started with this company a little more than a year ago. 
The pay is a bit light for my skill sets.
Management is very good. They're fair with techs and mechanics.
Typically of this trade the hours can be long but the money is good and they offer a 100% 401K match of up to 6% of your gross, which is fully vested at this point in time.

To highlight the fair part: I had COVID the beginning of last month and was down for 2 weeks, then I got an infected sebaceous cyst on my butt the week after I came back that took a week to get lance and cleared up so the doctor would release me to work.
No one so much as said BOO to me about the time off. They just handled it with grace and style.
As with everyone else in skilled trades we're a bit short staffed due to COVID, and due to the trade being physically difficult, with lots of climbing ladders and  heavy lifting. The office staff handles that with grace as well and does their level best to not abuse techs with work overloads, and allows us enough time to do the job right. 
Overall, the money could be a bit better (roughly $5 an hour lite) but a good outfit. 

I'll start with the interview process. The job is listed as data entry email only but it's phones as well. Training is supposed to be 5 weeks but they squeeze 5 weeks into 2.5 and just leave people with lots of questions. They want everyone on camera but aren't on camera themselves. They don't answer questions in a timely manner they are probably hanging out around the house or watching tv. When they do answer questions they are snarky or rude with the responses. There is no team building at all. There is no real interaction amongst us we can go a full 8 hrs of training in dead silence. It's definitely not a friendly environment or a good place to work. They have a chart that shows errors and the summer months it's the highest. Not only is it Peak but if we are trained effectively I believe the errors would be minimal to nil.

Pay is good work is definitely not a problem 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of management coordination with job information and scheduling for project is not handled properly most times leading to more headaches and more time wasted than expected and being held accountable for the lack of communication even if you are not the one responsible for the situation it’s pass the buck and blame game

Willing to accept mistakes and not be to micro manage people for the most part 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dispatch from home and for parts houses then go to a few service calls and about 8-12 later go home paid till you get there!
