What is the best part of working at the company?
The managers are beyond caring, understanding, communicate well and are flexible. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The patients can be taxing, but you'll find that anywhere.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Anyone can voice their opinions freely and openly. They encourage participation and questions. I havent ever worked in a place that was this open and easy to communicate even with head management.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Since i work remotely, I make outbound calls and if an issue arises, i jump on slack and let my manager know. Depending on the project we are working on, its usually the same. Easy to get a hold of someone that can help via Slack.

The thing I like most about this job is it so flexible. I work when I want to which fit around my schedule. It is also easy work making outbound calls and follow a script. The bad is that it is very low pay for a RN. At times, I feel I make anywhere around 12 or low 20 per hour which is really low for a nursing degree these days. The hours I put in isn’t worth the pay with a nursing license. The job itself is a independent contractor which I end up paying more taxes than if I am a W2. I feel with this job nurses shouldn’t buy a nursing insurance because we don’t give nursing advice at all. Overall, I left because I am working more hours with low pay that is not comparable to my license  and ending up pay more taxes for a 1099 and have to buy nursing insurance. 

I have enjoyed every minute of working for this company. The supervisors on shift with you are always so helpful and friendly and there to support you at the drop of a hat. The work itself is easy and low-stress and you get a sense of fulfillment knowing you’re helping people get their health needs met. The only (small) qualm would be that the hours are pretty low weekly, but that can also be an advantage to anyone who has other responsibilities they need to work around. They’re very flexible about scheduling and willing to work with you to find what works. Overall, I have loved my time here. 

I worked as a nurse contractor for 3+ years.  The compensation is poor and yet cortex as a company has more and more demands for nurse callers without any raise in call rates. We know that companies like Cortex are increasing profits without paying professional nurses what they are worth even for being remote. If you don’t want to pay more, lower your expectations , don’t require zoom meetings or ask for quizzes from nurses to prove what they already know, mind you without paying them for their time . Don’t expect to keep your job if you make any mention of pay. 

This is a great remote flexible gig!  I answer questions related to covid testing and help with retrieving results.  This position has been an amazing experience and I wish it were permanent.  The hours are flexible, but pay is pretty low.  This position is great if you are looking to supplement your income.  The only downfall is that it's a temp position so there is no job security.  Management could improve on communication; lots of changes happen during the course of a shift and information isn't always put out.

I worked at Cortex during the pandemic answering inbound calls for the COVID line and I loved pretty much everything about this job. The flexibility was amazing, and in fact one of the biggest perks of the job in my opinion. The flow of the job was seamless from the training to the chatting feature that they incorporated into your work day to communicate questions and issues with your supervisors. I enjoyed every day at work with this company ! 

I worked at Cortex for a few months in response to the pandemic. I liked the work and enjoyed the flexibility of working from home. The pay was good for the responsibilities. However, it seemed like they hired too many people for this covid-dependent work and soon the calls slowed down. There were some 6 hour shifts when I would only get 3 calls or sometimes less. Then they laid people off including me. I don’t blame the company it was great while it lasted. 

A typical day at work includes responding to alerts from home care and hospital at home patients, contacting the patients to assess their condition/needs and then contacting the client. The job can be challenging and fast paced but is much less stressful than bedside nursing and I still feel like I am making a positive impact on the lives of patients. Management is great and they are easy to communicate with. I work with a great team of nurses and RPM techs.

I often felt like management viewed me as "less-than" other employees...opportunities presented to other employees were not discussed with, let alone offered to, me. I asked about receiving more training numerous times, but was put off in ways that made me think that I might not be smart enough to benefit from the training. When questioned directly about this several times they acted like I was being overly sensitive.

Most people don’t answer the phone, or some people answer then don’t want to answer all of the questions and you have to mark call back which you don’t get paid for. A lot of elderly clients which are a joy to talk to but you are expected to make calls last 2-5 minutes and with older patients that isn’t always able to happen so you spend 10 minutes on a call and only get paid 2.50
