This organization appears far more focused on expanding programs and generating revenue than on building the infrastructure required to responsibly operate a treatment facility.

From the hiring process onward, communication and transparency were extremely poor. I was initially told the schedule would be Wednesday–Sunday, which later changed to Thursday–Sunday. I was also not informed until after accepting the position that required training would take place in Roseville.

The onboarding process was severely inadequate. I was expected to complete trainings before my official start date but received no meaningful training on documentation systems, policies, or clinical procedures. At the facility itself, there was no designated person responsible for training me on key responsibilities. Instead, I was largely left to figure out critical job duties on my own.

Operational issues at the facility created additional barriers. The facility computer was often unusable due to power issues, yet I was instructed not to use my personal laptop for work and was never provided a company laptop or alternative solution.

Despite the program being new, there appeared to be little effort from leadership to ensure it had the resources needed to function. After a month there were only three clients and no contractors in place to support programming or services. Leadership knew the program lacked staffing and infrastructure, yet expectations remained unrealistic.

Leadership communication was frequently contradictory. Staff were criticized for not asking for help, yet when attempts were made to seek support from other departments due to the lack of guidance, HR was copied on emails and the outreach was labeled “unprofessional.”

There were also repeated expectations to work outside scheduled hours, come in on days off, and perform duties outside of the original job description without compensation.

More concerning was the apparent lack of investment in professional staffing and program development. Experienced and trained staff were often expected to compensate for broader operational shortcomings, while leadership appeared unwilling to address structural issues within the program.

Effective addiction treatment programs require strong leadership, proper clinical oversight, adequate staffing, and clear policies. Unfortunately, those foundational elements were not in place during my time with the organization.

Until leadership prioritizes ethical program development, proper training, and meaningful support for staff, it will be difficult for both employees and clients to receive the level of care and professionalism that a treatment program should provide.

Do not work here! Management deceives its employees to the fullest extent. You will be promised/ guaranteed certain things and they will fail to meet those promises. The $2000 bonus in the job listing is non existent. Do not believe  any of the job post. Benefits don’t start until 60 days after employment. The turn over ratio is extremely high and within good reason. Nurses (LVNs) are paid on a salary agreement & over worked. They are forced to work between 4 different locations and rotate locations due to “company need”  throughout the day btw. There is not a 4:1 patient ratio as they put in their job listing. As a nurse, you will be covering all 4 locations, with each location varying in client occupancy. You will have to drive your own vehicle in between locations with no reimbursement. Upper Management will sell you on one thing, then 1 day into training, force dramatic changes on you willingly and knowingly.  They lie to recruit you into the position then tell you opposing information. They lack transparency and professionalism. Training schedule requires you to work 3am, 3 pm, and 3 NOC shifts between 4 different locations and be lucky you even get that. They don’t give you this information until you’re hired and starting, Inconveniencing your work/life balance.  Because they are so understaffed, you will not be adequately trained.  (they do not disclose this information of course)  Nurses don’t risk your license working for a place that has many mistakes being made by other staff and it falls under your license if your on shift. They’re severely understaffed especially at NOC/ weekend shifts. If someone calls out, you’re expected to work a double shift (16 hours) or stay later until someone is able to relieve you. managers & HR will stop answering the phones when you’re left stranded on a shift. Upper management is and will definitely be the fall of this company. Disorganization and deceit to its finest.


The work itself is low maintenance and easy to maintain if you’re a quick learner and have the required skills and desire to learn. The job it’s self is not difficult once you’re actually trained (if that happens) there are still no pros to working here. Full transparency here because the job will not give you that. 

New Dawn was a terrible place to work. They will burn out their employees, not care that you are struggling while offering zero support, and express no gratitude for the overtime hours salaried employees put in, while you work nonstop to make sure their clients and company has what they need. They like to create drama and stories about staff, and then allow it to trickle down to staff lower in the company, while staff unethically talks and gossips about other staff and attempts to destroy reputations based on lies. I burnt out working there with no support from corporate management, with constant demands to engage in and implement unrealistic, unreasonable policies. They also do not understand that NV laws and workplace regulations are different from CA. They treat people like numbers and dollar signs and would ask you to reconsider before you work here. It's not a good environment. They also generally try to pay their staff as little as they can get away with, despite making a lot of money as a for-profit. Corporate could benefit from their own treatment - mostly in learning how to treat others, be kind, offer support, and be honest. The things they ask us to teach their clients unfortunately are often not practiced by those in charge. Disappointing...

Upper management (HR/Corporate) is completely money hungry. There is no sense of concern for their employees and will work everyone to the ground to ensure that there are clients coming through the door. No sense of regard towards their employees mental health or work/life balance. Upper management does not take into account suggestions/changes and is a very “always have, always will” mentality. High turnover rate is a no brainer once you start working at this job. They will entice you with the pay, but the stress and mental toll it takes on you is not worth it. 

The day to day operations is fine and manageable, most clients are easy to care for - but it gets hard when there are no repercussions towards staff who consistently calls out with no consequences, leaving those who do show up for their job having to work doubles to ensure that the clients are taken care for.

Upper management claims to be there for their employees but is completely unreachable when staffing becomes an issue. They give out extra incentives to work missing shifts, so everyone expects an extra something and will say no to work if there is none offered. 

Completely flawed company. Great vision, but handled very poorly by those who are on top.

worked at ndtc for a short period as a nurse. the communication between staff is awful, clients will run out of medications and youre not made aware until their symptoms are bad and you’re frantically calling to find the medication. Provider lists are never updated so figuring out who to call for more medication is a hassle. Pay is lower than average for other nursing jobs in the area, often times youre all alone with detoxing clients and they have potential to become violent if they don’t get what they want. Instead of training the nurses on how to do certain orders, the “head” nurse will work on their day off and then complain about needing to work on their day off. If you hire nurses, they are competent enough to be trained. Train them for how to complete orders the “new dawn” way and you won’t need to do everything yourself, also let them know if you’re doing an order so they’re not left in the dark!
This job was not worth it and I would recommend going elsewhere that offers better foundational training and better communication amongst staff. 

First and foremost, yes, there can be a lot of drama here. It’s a rehab lol, and it’s actually quite entertaining if you stay out of it and try to be professional. That being said, the kitchen is mostly drama free compared to what it used to be. I worked here for nearly three years, longer than the rest and I’ve seen a lot change. New head chef is extremely talented and has a lot to teach. You are constantly cooking new things, the job doesn’t get stagnant and as repetitive as restaurant work. Creative input is always welcome when it comes to the menu, plating, flavor profiles. The menu is changed monthly and each day is a new breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal. You are working one on one with the clients, and it feels great to be apart of their healing process and it’s very humbling to see their graciousness. All in all, it is what you make of it. This can either be a really easy, good paying job, or you can push yourself each day to learn something new and refine your techniques. 

Working at New Dawn Treatment Centers has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The team here is compassionate, supportive, and truly dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction. From leadership to clinical staff, everyone works together to create a welcoming and healing environment for our clients.

I worked there for almost 4 years and was fired one day when I came to work. I had never been fired before and haven’t since either. I was told that it was because a new employee made a mistake and I didn’t catch the error. When I explained I wasn’t on the shift that the new person was on, they didn’t care and said I still should have caught the persons mistake. I worked in the detox house at a time when it was one employee scheduled to work all night long with no one to help or cover breaks or lunches, so you didn’t get any. No one is valued there unfortunately. I really loved helping others, especially through such a difficult thing as addiction and recovery. Luckily I was let go because I was able to find an even better treatment center to work for and learned what it’s like to be valued as an employee because it isn’t this company .

In recent years, micro managed. Usually very client centered with a good team spirit.  The staff is very dedicated to the client's and work very hard to advocate for them.  The hardest part of the day was formulating strong clinical reviews to obtain treatment days from the insurance companies. I tend to have a strong clinical vocabulary and written skills.  I believe I posses effective communication skills and get along with just about everyone I worked with.  I am very proud of work I do with my clients and that I was contacted by the CEO in 2015 to return to New Dawn.

I 've been working within a cohesive unit to assist clients in daily therapy sessions. The workplace culture is community based although each clinician has their individual case load. New Dawn provides a variety of options to fit the needs of clients. We are able to incorporate a multitude of groups and a team utility meeting. The most difficult part of the job is de-escalating crisis situations when they arise. The most challenging aspect of my position is finding the balance between going the extra mile for each client yet maintaining boundaries and limiting attachments. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to watch clients succeed when our efforts are rewarded. As a therapist we have the flexibility to practice different modalities to best serve the client's needs.
