A typical day at work is 9-3 PM. The ESL Begin Program teaches from my experience how to be much more patient and understanding of our clients/students with interruptions and various student commitments other than class because of their life situations.

Our staff is supportive and helpful when there are issues that arise and may cause frustration. This has been a staff that has worked to help and make our jobs easier.

Hardest part of the job is the fine line of being firm and yet compassionate to the issues of a Begin client.

The best part is seeing our teaching has paid off when a student feels confident in the English language and moves on to either getting employment or attends college through the Clip Program.

The most enjoyable part is teaching a lesson plan that reaches the students fear of speaking and sees them relaxing into the lesson with more confidence. It is a great pleasure to see them work with their classmates to succeed.

Overall rating of working at Bronx Community College is good. The work is challenging at all times. Compensation and benefits, however, could be better. I like the cultural diversity at the college. My job has been secured, There is no advancement in my field of work at the grants office. Management is excellent and because of that I can find a balance between work and life. The entire department is a team. We work together harmoniously. We enjoy each others company. The hardest part of the work comes unexpectedly in the form of special projects consisting of financial analysis and research. A typical day at work consist of analyzing financial data, interpreting financial statements, monitoring executed grants and consulting with my collegues. The enviorment at work has contributed a great deal to my interpersonal skills. Overall, I like the the people I work with. I like my directors, the Vice president and my financial collegues.

A typical day at work consist of searching through the Track It Work Order system, searching for issues that need to be addressed throughout the college campus. The Work Orders Vary From Troubleshooting Or Installing the following Security Surveillance Cameras, Alarm Systems, Connections For Computers, Telephones, Fax machines, Network Printers, Wireless Access Points, Laptops etc. Once Several work Orders are found, i head out to the field and go to each user individually and assist them to the best of my abilities. The management could use some changes in how they work and how they treat their workers, but all in all i do my job and complete any task given to me. For me there are no hard parts of the day since i have been in the Information Technology Field for Going on 8 Years i am very experienced in this field, if there are any issues i cannot handle, i always reach out to my management and get any questions that the users have answered.

A typical day at work would look like me sitting at the front desk greeting my co-workers and parents in the morning. Then picking up breakfast for the kids and giving them out to each class. By 12 it is nap time. I would go to which ever teacher is having the most trouble putting their kids to sleep. This is also a perfect time for helping a teacher make or hang activities or have a child sit at the front desk with me for a time out. When the kids wake up, it is lunch time. At this time some kids are also usually already leaving. I would be the one passing out the lunches. Then return to the desk to make sure each parent signs help or needs help and hope that they have a good rest of the day. By the end of the day I would be telling a story, singing a song and having a snack. The most hardest part of the job was when 1 kids became a distraction to the whole class. The whole experience was enjoyable to me because I was where I loved to be; surrounded by kids. My coworkers were very supportive and caring.

I Created workshops to prepare students for proficiency examinations, enrolled students for Intersession/Workshops placing them in the assigned courses, Produced spread sheets for all the workshops, assigned classes to faculty members. I continued working during Intersessions, Spring breaks and during Summer Immersion Programs while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree and my Master degree at NYU.

Great wonderful atsmophere, working with people/students of all ages. I had a terrific manager who was also my mentor. I learned so much from her and continue to keep in touch with her for the last 14 years. Enjoyable work since i helped enhance students education throughout every day work at BCC. The hardest part of the job was leaving to pursue a new full time job placement as a ICM/therapist social worker.

A typical day at work would be greeting all the students who will walk into the office. i would ask them have they ever use our services before if not then i will give them an application and start processing their intake. If they have use the services i would normally have them sit down and wait for the next avaiable case worker. In addition to that i would ask  them questions about the services they need from us and also tell them about the additional services we provide. Though out the day i would normally file unless my supervisor or boss give me my own case. However my boss and supervisor push me to take on my own case because this is the field i want to go into,which is the most enjoyable part about the job. The hardest part about the job is that sometimes the cases can be very emotional and what i have learn about  cases like this is that if it get to overwelheming you take a moment to pull yourself back togethier or reschedule an appointment with the client.

Career Connections is a program run by Henkels & McCoy at Bronx Community College. A typical day consists of no communication with team, but when I am training my participants I enjoy my job the most. I learned that I have much better management skills and experience than I could ever use with this program and that I should never take another job that is beneath my qualifications. The management here has no coaching or developing skills and do not take responsibility but deflect persistently. My co-workers are sheep and do not speak up against wrong. The hardest part of my job is that there is no communication or collaboration. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with my clients and the acknowledgement I receive from them.

In a typical day at Bronx Community College; As soon as I get to the computer lab, I check all computers and peripherals are working properly. I make sure all students, faculty and staff sing-in in the lab sign in sheet. Data entry from the usage from the day before for the weekly reports and problem logs. Help the students with any kind of issue such as login to computers, emails, CunyFirst, blackboard.send emails with reports. Once you learn your duties at a specify place they don't teach staff anything else. 
Hardest part of the job it's when students don't want to follow the rules; such as sing in, eating or inside the computer lab, talking at lough. 
The most enjoyable part it's when students and faculty feel they been help the way they deserve and they need. Also when I received emails from professors and my boss congratulating me for the wonderful job I've been dong.

A typical day in the office of Student life varied, sometimes it was quiet then within seconds there could be a mob of students waiting for service.

I have learned alot throughout the twenty-five years I served at BCC, but the most important thing I learned was to always be prepared for the unexpected.  Because working in the Office of Student Life, you never knew what the day may bring, even though the scheduled is mapped out for assignments.

Some co-workers were cooperative,then there were others who just wanted to be who they were.

The hardest part of the job was getting student participation in semester events, and planning events.

The most enjoyable part to the job was when the workload was not so overwhelming for the staff,   and when there was downtime.

I've worked for BCC for approximately sometime now and in this time I have seen several changes in upper management.  To be honest writing this review is hard because I sound bitter but this is what happens when you're here too long.  People here think that titles or friendships should get you preferential treatment.  There aren't many people here who are willing to make a decision.  I don't know of a place on this campus who does the proper financial planning and then we wonder why we have no money or have a surplus.  Most people never care to ask why or look at a process to see if it can be changed because this place is against innovation and collaboration.  The most enjoyable part of this job is having some amazing coworkers who really care about you.  They might be far and few between but they are the reason that I stayed as long as I did.
