So far the best place I've worked. They really train and make sure you know how to do your job. I felt that my manager(s) have helped a lot with learning to do my job and care about my further career plans and advancements. Coworkers have been great as well. The only really hard part is dealing with members/customers. Some can be quite stubborn, and while it is your job to educate them on what the law/procedures are, some can be rather entitled, especially older members/accounts (Cyprus Royalty) who have ties to the original founders of the CU and seem to demand extra special treatment/exceptions to rules/policies now and again, some that would start to have questionable legal standing if something goes wrong. (For the record the board members who would come by were nothing like this since they set the policies and know more about what the laws are)

There was a problem of workplace gossip/cliques at my branch, however it looks as though my manager has managed to get this to stop for now.

Cyprus does require you to get 'Cross-Sells' which means getting members to sign up or use a service offered like Home Banking, E-statements, or applying for loans, credit cards, signing up for an insurance newsletter/finder tool, referrals to Mortgages and Investments, etc. It's only 10 a month for part time, or 16 for full time. My manager wanted to always have us outdo more than our minimums so sometimes it felt like I was shoving products and things people didn't really need or want down their throat.

I typically reviewed cardholder disputes, researched the transactions in question, and would either process or decline disputes depending on provided info and the nature of the fraud. This department is tight-knit and full of support, and management not only has our members' best interest at heart, but also the wellbeing of each of our team members. I've learned a great deal of how cards work, how to maintain security of your info, and the processes of resolving fraud or purchase problems. The job itself can be stressful and difficult when it comes to communicating and requesting details from our members, especially for those who struggle with conflict or hostile behavior from upset members. Despite these, there is plenty of support and management is actively involved with both assisting the members and ensuring their workers are treated fairly.

The hardest part of the job is having to deal with members who are rude. Keep it professional, but don't be afraid to let the member know that they are crossing a line with their language. Usually, you can ask for help, and at least my assistant manager and manager always had my back. I was able to just continue working due to my experience. Management does encourage you to take a few minutes if needed, if it was a serious and rough interaction. 

I do think management is definitely what made the job a good environment to work in.  Along with the coworkers who are helpful.

Keep in mind that you have to cross-sell. Meaning you are encouraged to talk about Cyprus products, and you have to meet a certain amount. I didn't always meet it, but they just train you again to ensure you can cross-sell. Be an overachiever and your goal might go up, but that could be said in any job. 

I personally liked drive up because you don't have to do small talk. As an introvert this is great when it happens. You are expected to help out the line if you have no one in drive up, so keep that in mind. 


There are a lot of good people that work at Cyprus CU. I enjoyed my time there while working in the IT Department and was able to learn a lot of different technologies and meet some excellent co-workers. (Most of them have left)

Management in the IT Dept was lacking at times or over compensated and extreme micromanagement took place. Projects would shift from day to day causing a very confusing and disorganized work environment. This in turn caused stress on employees in the department. In a sense it was a bipolar work environment. 

Upper management heard the concerns but did not move to resolve the problems and good people have moved on because of this. 

Good people work there in other departments and do their very best with their circumstances.

There are ins and outs of any job. I really like the location I work at right now as I feel like my managers are nice to me. But also at the same time they can expect a lot of me, as all managers do especially if you are capable. I do my best go above and beyond at my job, and I feel like that is noticed by my managers. It can be stressful when dealing with members who are very demanding. " I want my loan done now" e.t.c.. At Cyprus we are obligated to do this for them because of our service promises which can be really stressful. Then there is work drama too, but I try not to stress over what I can't control.

loved working for Cyprus Credit Union, good work environment for the most part, My manager was good with my hours, Their insurance plans are way to high in price. Being a single mom I was not able to have health insurance, I needed that money so I would be able to pay rent. I asked for raises twice and they told me they only do them yearly. I did not like that about them. They like to hire with in. they have good benefits/bonuses for employees yearly and you get 11 paid holidays off. They like their employees to be professional.

LOTS OF FUN COMPANY EVENTS, A BIG 'FAMILY' ATMOSPHERE. THERE ARE A LOT OF POLITICS INVOLVED IN THE COMPANY, AND AN EXCEEDINGLY HIGH TURN OVER RATE BECAUSE THEY ONLY START PEOPLE AS PART TIME AND STARTING PAY IS LESS THAN MOST FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS EVEN. AMAZING PEOPLE, AMAZING ENVIRONMENT, AND VERY CARING. DOWN SIDE IS THE COMPANY MAKES EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE TO NOT PAY MORE TO THE EMPLOYEES. HIGHEST TURN OVER RATE OF ANY ORGANIZATION I'VE EVER BEEN A PART OF.

I loved working for Cyprus Credit Union. There was always something to do, always ways to advance, and great work environment. I really enjoyed most of my bosses, supervisors, etc. The hard part about working there was the cross selling. I felt I was constantly pushing products and services on members even though they didn't necessarily need them, because it was required for my job. The company is great however.

Cyprus is an excellent company with excellent benefits. They make their employees feel right at home. They provide various opportunities to advance and to excel. The management is excellent. Managers really desire to know their employees and to see their employees succeed. The hardest part of the job would have to be working to memorize all of the shortcuts on the program and doing that under stress. However, it made it all worth it having kind members and staff.

While working at Cyprus, my branch manager was extremely toxic and unprofessional to say the least. I never felt like I had a chance to succeed once I got placed at the branch. Be careful when applying, Cyprus as a company is not the worst, they just need to do something about their management.
