Very much a "finance bro" club. DEI was performative - in fact, they omitted the "E" from their efforts entirely. Employee engagement surveys and other feedback were never taken seriously, if acknowledged at all. They tout company values and "being like a family" but when it actually comes time to demonstrate them, they are forgotten for the bottom line. Some leaders have been installed over the last few years and the culture has changed dramatically, prioritizing money over people. There are small pockets of good people - however, they are not at the top or have been pushed out. HR is very unresponsive, unhelpful, mostly incompetent. Unengaged with realities of staff and the work completed. Benefits are expensive and not great in terms of coverage. Compensation is fine. They would send a small gift card every Christmas to employees which was nice.

I am new to D A Davidson but not new to good work culture.  Every advisor has their own style of work relationship with their assistants. That is perceived as unfair amongst them.   Most advisors are in the office anywhere from 20-30 hours a week leaving their assistants to do all the work they pass off. Maybe that is the culture with all companies like this.  If so you’d better make sure you are not training a new CA every two years because they’ll figure out what their real worth is in the eyes of their FA.  And the poor office manager is the HR person too.  The strangest non typical structure I have ever seen.  Some FAs are really good.  And some are really good used car salesman and micro manage EVERY thing you do.  And then you find out they don’t contribute to your 401K until you have worked there 2 years.  It’s just a job. And not a good one that will keep me in it long term. 

I worked at DA Davidson for 2 years. I typed daily stock market commentary for the company website. I took my job very seriously and had a large audience in the late 1990s. I read a tremendous amount of research for my commentary. I worked Saturday and sometimes Sunday. It was very stressful. The company was growing rapidly when I worked there and new brokers from the West Coast had different investments styles then the traditional value based investing that the Rocky Mountain states used. I was the voiced of research and caught in the middle. I resigned from my postion in April of 2000. It was the worst trading week Nasdaq history.

Enjoyed my work here.  Advancement in responsibility and especially in pay is slow.  Pay is well below other areas for the same work.  Raises and bonuses are same across the board for operations - certain percentage and same bonus for all.   Should be performance based as there are those who will ride the coattails of other as far as job performance goes - and yet they get the same bonus/raise as those who go above and beyond

Not a top bucket shop by any means; however, an overall positive place to begin an investment banking career. People were great to work with for the most part. Compensation was average to below average, but improving to meet the industry. Slow to promote as the typical analyst program lasted 3 years. Disappointed with the effort and transparency in providing PE exit opportunities after the analyst program.

I was the main contact for clients at the front counter. I handled all incoming calls, deposits, client withdrawals. I helped schedule appointments, researching any problems. I enjoyed the interaction with all the clients.

It's all in the title. I was sold that the there was going to be this immense opportunity to make money and grow as a professional. Instead I was stuck with some slob of a baby boomer and was forced to make cold calls to regional banks. They practice their business on an old and outdated model. I tried my absolute hardest, and nothing came of it.

You have a six month probation period and before the end of six months they let you go. No intervention before hand, no opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Called in let go and walked out. I never called in sick, always on time never asked for a personal day. I did work from home never really had time in the office. Except at the end, when they were going to let me go . They are not the quality company they present themselves to be.

Great individuals overall.  Corporate executive culture with communications and trustworthiness needs work. Historical culture was fantastic but, the addition of new executives created an environment of mistrust.

I am fairly new to D.A. Davidson and I have to say what a wonderful change in my career. I feel valued and supported daily. I am provided with a flexible work schedule and my team is outstanding. It's never a dull moment and learning is an adventure. I truly love what I do and excited for what's to come. I wake up with a smile on face when I come to work and leave at the end of the day feeling accomplished (still smiling).
