The actual working environment isn’t too bad. The staff is friendly and you’ll enjoy working with most of your coworkers. Very family like atmosphere in the regard. However, DISA pays way below the average wages for the job that you’re hired to do. There is little to no training, yet they expect perfection. They are very big on cutting your hours to avoid overtime and question overtime if you do require extra to accomplish all the work they give you. They’re always short staffed, and you will probably not being doing the job you were actually hired to do. Trying to take any paid time off is practically impossible because of the short staffing as there’s no one to cover your job. Do not get sick because you will be penalized for being ill and unable to work. They have a ton of recruiters that will tell you the pay rate and how it increases after x number of days, it does not. Benefits are not that great, and the benefits are very costly. You will learn a lot and get good experience in your field but only because the other employees are typically willing to help you learn. Overall, it’s a job and it pays you money but it does not pay you enough to be able to afford the benefits cost and cost of living. But they do expect a lot of every employee and you will end up doing more than one job for only the compensation of one job. You will also be expected to do the workload of multiple employees on just your schedule and not work overtime. If you get overtime, you will be questioned about it. If you can afford to make less than you’re promised and have no life outside of work, then it’s good for the experience but aside from that, don’t look for stability here. 

I enjoyed my job at DISA very much. I started as a temp to hire April 2008.  I looked forward to getting there each day. A typical day was coming in, greeting everyone in our department, then checking voicemail and email. Then we had a morning meeting. Afterwards, I returned any messages and contacted clients to schedule training. Then I conducted the hour long morning training for our clients via webinar. In the afternoon I conducted another hour long training for our clients. In between the webinar training, I would conduct training with clients over the phone just one on one. I attended many hours of training through Insperity.  It was encouraged by the company and rewarded with a training bonus at the end of the year if a certain number of training hours were met. I learned DOT regulations and DSOP. Drug and Alcohol collection procedures. To be honest I do not have enough room to list all the things I learned in the 5 years of working there! My manager always encouraged us to ask questions, learn more, give our ideas and treated us with respect. My co-workers were wonderful and encouraging. The hardest part of my job was leaving it to take care of my daughter. The most enjoyable part of my job was always learning something new. Teaching the clients what they needed to know to understand the drug testing policies for their employees to access the chemical plants. Overall it was a great place to work and learn.

I loved the work environment and the people I worked with at DISA. I was hired on as a temp and was pretty positive about being hired on permanently( I usually always do with any other temp to hire jobs due to my performance). However, it was way past the contract time and the manager still did not inform me whether I was hired on permanent or not. I, and a few other temps continued to work with a heavy workload with temp pay and no benefits. We were always asked to work overtime on Saturdays and to stay late during the week because the department I worked for was short staffed for the amount of work load they had. This particular department seemed to not be able to keep their workers. All of us (4 of us to be exact) were temps except 1permanent employee, the lead, the manager, and director. Temps kept quitting because it seemed liked they were just wanting the work done, but were not really going to hire anyone permanently. I eventually quit for this same reason. The pay was not worth the commute, workload and no benefits. (Disclaimer: This is my experience with this one department in DISA. I can't speak for how the other departments were.)

Their service portfolio includes drug and alcohol testing, background screening, occupational health screening, transportation compliance, and safety and substance abuse training.

Management style varies from department to department.  Co-workers worked hard and demonstrated excellence in their knowledge.  It was interesting to learn more about the industry the company is in.

● Work-life balance
Great co-workers, poor leadership and absolutely no on-boarding or training. Company is experiencing growth through acquisitions, but fail to fix internal issues that persist. With that being said, I would recommend them to a friend because they have 90% of the right people in place to effectively make the necessary change. Problems is, when will they take a step back and fix it???

Benefits are decent, but commission is once a quarter which is crazy in sales.

● Job security and advancement
Again, no training at all. Employee engagement, and growth strategy does not exist.

● Management
It will all depend on what department you are hired in.

● Culture
Only currently are employee working remote due to COVID-19.

● Overall
Absolutely no onboarding, employee engagement, and or culture established when you are hire. Depending on the department, you may feel like your on an deserted island starting employment. But, the people are awesome and always willing to help, if you seek them out.

I excelled in my position and reached my maximum potential there my first week. My first day they told me how to link  lab results to patients to collection sites. 18 clicks per account their method took to close an account. I had recognized a pattern in the numbers and memorized about 250 collection sites, and cut the process down to 6 clicks. Their previous best person in my position did 2500 accounts a week, I did 3000. But the hardest part of the job is staying interested in your work. I got through the day by water and coffee to refresh myself. I learned how to work Excel, learned how to talk and work with corporate executives along with a network of departments. I.e finding and showing glitches to I.T., sending data to departments, finding faster methods to completing my task; thus modifying training manual. There was a lot of room for advancement but I couldn't work in such a sedimentary environment.

Honest review of my experience, starting off with the prior director of the department was great everything was fluid and you had full support, fast forward now coworkers are ok however depending on your department and who's in charge there may not be room for growth,  almost no training in a new position learn it by yourself pretty much, minimum raises, it took 2 years after I started working to get a raise. Depending who's above you  you may not get recognized for your efforts, the last time i was recognized at ring the bell individually was early years while new employees were recognized almost immediately and routinely. Benefits are ok high deductibles still. Unless you have prior experience and you Lan a high level position this would not be a recommended place to stay long.

This company provides good health and dental and anything good I have to say stops there. I worked with the most back talking, passive aggressive losers I have ever met. If you aren’t part of their little high school level friend groups you pretty much can kiss any opportunity of moving up in the company goodbye. Wages are astronomically low. At best you can maybe make 18 an hour after wasting 14 years of your life at worst you’ll make minimum wage. Never work for this company, and if you do don’t get involved with anyone. Do not talk to anyone do not make friends, just earn your salary and go home. Expected to work overtime and you will get looked down on if you choose not to. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
In the beginning when I started in 2017 it was great, but along the years there is was horrible. Management only looks after the ones that are making the big bucks, and not the ones that are actually working and helping the company better. Also CEO brings in best friends and makes up titles for others to come in just to have a job. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management and how they treat their loyal employees. They don't listen to their concerns and don't value their opinions to help the departments and company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible I would not recommend anyone to work for DISA Global Solutions.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day will be very stressful from the time I start to the time I get off.

I start out at Marathon Petroleum in the morning doing respiratory fit testing on Marathon employees. Then when i'm done for the morning there i go on to DISA Global Solutions. At DISA i do drug testing on Contractors. Once a month i also go to Bollinger at the Port of Texas City, and do random drug testing as well.
I have learned a lot coming working for this company.

Hair Testing 
as well as i have a degree in Phlebotomy.  
My co workers are great i have learned a lot from them we work well together as a team .
The hardest part of my job would be the CPS cases.
And the part i do enjoy about this job would definitely be getting to see people i use to work with at Altair Strickland.
