There is a lot to love about DLB. 

My coworkers are some of the best I've ever worked with, and even though we're remote we get to do a lot of fun things together. Painting classes, yoga, bingo, and sharing memes in Teams. 

The executive team is very open about how the company is doing, and their plans to do even better. There are all company meetings every month to share this information, along with town halls about once a quarter where every employee question gets answered. 

And on top of all that the culture of innovation is very refreshing for this industry. Every executive right now loves to talk about AI, but at DLB our CEO is actually on the front line of this innovation. I'm regularly using custom GPTs made by the CEO himself. And if that doesn't impress you the things the DLB software team are making would. 

Unfortunately, I hate logging into work every day because I work for the rudest micromanagers I have ever met. Every conversation feels like I'm speaking to a brick wall, like none of my ideas are heard. Probably wouldn't matter if they were though, because my managers favorite past time is redoing anything I deliver. Nothing I've ever done has been good enough for this person. 

I'd love to get help with this situation, but I've seen what happens to people who complain about their managers at DLB and I can't afford to get fired. 

I know DLB has good managers from conversations with my coworkers, but I guess I just got real unlucky. Take the gamble if you dare.

I joined the DLB team as an electrical commissioning engineer which required 90% travel but over the past year I have been transitioned from an electrical commissioning engineer to an electrical design engineer. I was able to pick up the concepts of each position farely quickly and was given the opportunity to learn the different facets of MEP design.

During my time as an electrical commissioning engineer, I learned how to develop responsibility metrics, manpower schedules, testing procedures, operation of medium voltage switchgear, relay settings (LSIG)

During my time as an electrical design engineer, I developed excellent skills in graphical clarity with the production of design development, schematic design and construction documents. In addition, I have become very familiar with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 codes and requirements.

A typical day involved collaboration with a motivated team, problem-solving, and adapting to new challenges. I learned time management, cross-team communication, and developed resilience. Management was supportive and provided clear goals. The workplace culture promoted inclusivity, creativity, and open feedback. The hardest part was meeting tight deadlines under pressure, but that also pushed me to grow. The most enjoyable part was seeing team efforts turn into successful results.

Working at this company has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From day one, the team felt like a close-knit, supportive community — a place where you feel at home. The management team truly cares about employees, both professionally and personally, and it shows in the way they listen, support growth, and encourage new ideas.

I’ve been able to build my career here and learn so much along the way. The opportunities for development, the collaborative culture, and the genuine respect people have for one another make it an exceptional place to work. I’m grateful for the experience and proud to be part of a company that values its people the way this one does.

Despite being fully remote the company's communication is top tier which is exceptional; however, the new leadership has proven via their actions that they have no issues lining their pockets at the expense of the design team's mental health - many of whom were also denied any sort of annual raise despite a fantastic annual review.

Fast-paced work environment which demands perfection without giving the time required to even review work due to overlapping deadlines.

Those people who live for work and can keep up will thrive.  Some employees who are recognized and rewarded are working 60+ hour weeks.

The work is 100% remote. There is a lot of alone time and a lot of messages to filter and meetings to attend to stay connected with your team. There are many brilliant engineers at work looking for new ways to improve. There is little direction given to senior engineers who are expected to know their craft. Great training is provided to junior engineers. The culture is fun and respectful and evolving with technology. The hardest part of the job is managing the need to build relationships and see people. The most enjoyable part of the job is the flexibility and being part of a developing market. 

DLB has put an emphasis on developing ways to redefine the industry standard. 

The Clients are some of the biggest names in the industry and the projects provide ample opportunities for continued learning and personal growth. 

The people are all friendly and willing to help out or answer any questions.

I would definitely recommend DLB to anyone that's interested in the industry. It's a wise career move and it's no wonder that most employees have been with DLB for 10+ years.

I had the pleasure of working with DLB Associates and I can confidently say that the work culture is truly amazing. The people at DLB truly care for you, support you and guide you in your professional development. They are very encouraging and push you to step out of your comfort zone, allowing you to take on bigger tasks and responsibilities.
