Being a Mavericks Dancer takes a special kind of person. Each girl on the squad has either a part-time job or attends college in addition to being on the team! The schedule for your week is not very consistent and could be given to you with only a few days notice. If you have an additional job it must be flexible and able to work around your dancer calendar (This is given to you once you make the team). You are very professional, responsible, hard working, reliable, and always being the very best you no matter where you are. Now you represent so much more than just yourself, you are representing the whole brand of the Dallas Mavericks. You spend countless hours practicing on your own during your free time so that you are able to practice with no mistakes once you actually arrive to practice on Monday-Thursday nights. Practices typically vary depending on the number of games there is that week or how busy the team's schedule is. You dance at the home games at the American Airlines Center and you are the teams number one cheerleader! You may often get scheduled for appearances which range from performing for a small or large group, visiting companies, getting involved within your community, working with children, taking photos, signing autographs, traveling the country... Just to name a few! It is very exhausting because there are roughly 50 games in a season. You meet some awesome people and make friends that will last a lifetime!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with the design and marketing staff has just been an absolute blast! For the short time that I've been working with them I've learned a lot and leadership really does encourage and promote growth within the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I can't think of anything yet but I could imagine crunch time being a potential stressful part. Most of the work I've been assigned has been very strait forward and easy to navigate as far as deliverables go. Really just enables me to focus on my craft and doing my best work. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The age demographic in the office is mostly on the younger side which is refreshing! I've found so much in common with a handful of the staff there and it's made it easier to connect with people there. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Usually there's some assignments given to me before I walk in the door. I go through the list of assignments and work on them based on the due dates. Once I finish an assignment I submit it for approval and pivot to the next one. There's typically plenty of time between the project being assigned to it being due. So if there are any revisions its pretty easy to knock out and return to the last project you were working on. So ultimately be prepared to bounce between projects if needed. Revisions will always take priority unless deadlines show otherwise.

Worked as an AE with the Dallas Mavs for 2 years. Pay has not improved in over 15 years, even with the cost of living rising at an exponential rate. I can barely survive on what I make and if you work in ticket sales all the other departments look down on you. Marketing and digital need to hire at least 1-3 more people because they are always behind. Until this year, there was no internal promotions, and it's been made VERY clear that if you work in ticket sales you will NEVER be able to get into the corporate sales team at the Mavs. Creativity isn't appreciated, and accounts are stolen or handed off to department favorites regularly. Don't point out a flaw without fear of being torn down in the process. No internal community/volunteer initiatives; only external and with the players.

Things are SLOWLY starting to improve and the benefits are incredible, but there is still a LOOONNGG way to go and $30K in a high cost of living market is absurd. They say it's because of commission but taxes take out 40%+ of your commission in your paycheck. Mileage isn't reimbursed because "you're on the clock, so why would I pay your more". 

Salary hourly.

• Execute timely promotions throughout the game and picking the proper contestants, according to the sponsors requests.
• I have learned how to interact with fans and make sure they are enjoying as much time as possible.
• Management is very interactive and allows you freedom as long as the job is executed properly.
• Co-workers are always in a good mood and ready to have some fun.
• The hardest part of the job is trying not to get lost in the actual game itself, so you can still execute all the promotions.
• Most enjoyable part of the job is getting to work in the NBA atmosphere, being around the players, out of the court, and out with the fans.

I would show up to all of the Dallas Mavericks home games and pass out game programs. Many times I would be called to go and rebound for the players. During the game I would sit on the floor and help clean the court during stoppage of play.

During the Summer time I would help sell tickets to season ticket holders. This taught me the essentials of being a good salesman at a young age. Also, during the summer time, I would help with the Dallas Mavericks camps for whatever was needed at the time.

On a typical non-game day of work I would answer customer emails, send proposals to prospects, and call on potential prospects. I have learned that selling tickets is very unique. The product is perishable, there is an emotional element to the sale, and value is a broad spectrum. My co-workers are family. The hardest part of the job is also the most enjoyable part of the job; getting to the games, meeting clients, and being present on game night.

Being a basketball player myself, I felt as though I would be perfect to help the kids who attended the Mavericks basketball camp. Throughout the week long camp, we taught basics of dribbling and shooting, played a few games, and even had competitions. Some Mavericks players, and even Mavs Man, surprised the kids one day during camp. It was a tremendous experience and an honor to work with the fellow coaches and campers.

fun atmosphere, and fun people. low pay, no recognition. didnt get a raise (even cost of living) in 4 years. management doesnt always know what is happening within each department. Very little planning ahead by each department which creates chaos and stress on everyone when they have to play catch-up

I loved working with the Dallas Mavericks basketball camp. The culture was amazing all around. The workplace was always set up neat so that we could coach the kids there in the proper manner.

The best place I've ever worked.
Year after year proved to be different than the year before. 
Mark provided an exceptional play to live away from home. And made work seem like play. Very proud of my time at the Mavericks and my contribution to it's success.
