DePaul uses the phrase FIRST as their mission (Fairness, Integrity, Respect, Safety, & Trust) It is anything but that. The "higher ups" like to talk about who is a culture fit in the organization, yet it is they, who build the environment that does not fit with their own mission. You do not know who to trust. People will be quick to stab you in the back. And to say that the organization is fair is laughable. There is a noticeable difference in the atmosphere and culture since the previous COO left, and unfortunately, not for the better. Once positions are eliminated or an employee leaves, the company is hesitant to re-fill. Instead, they reward the hardworking, dedicated employees with and overwhelming workload that is nearly impossible to achieve. Training in the beginning is poor at best. The supervisors are so stretched thin, that they do not have the time to properly train, leaving employees to fend for themselves - then turn around and chew them out when they make a mistake. Do yourself a favor and look for a job elsewhere. Until this company is under new leadership, it will continue to go downhill.

Working at DePaul Community Resources is fun as there are different activities to participate in every day. Working with individuals, while challenging, is very rewarding. I learned a lot about working with ID individuals and implementing positive behavioral support plans. My direct supervisor was amazing to work with and provided a lot of support while I was learning the job. Higher management was not as supportive, but was there in emergency situations. There were a couple of co-workers that were pivotal in my success and others that were difficult to work with. The hardest part of the job was working with individuals that were unwilling to participate in activities or displayed difficult behaviors. The most enjoyable part of the job was the excitement of the individuals served when they arrived for the day.

Paid time off was helpful and sufficient for full time employees. No room for advancement within the company. Day support coordinator nurtured a toxic work environment. He is well known within the community as uninformed, passive when it comes to supporting individuals, will explain until he’s blue in the face that he is in the field for the individuals, but is, in fact only interested in advancing himself regardless of who he has to step on to do so. Employees enable his toxic behavior and minimal effort because speaking up would require effort that they don’t get paid enough to put forth.

You have to have a passion for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. I enjoyed working here, but as new employees/co-workers were hired, they ruined a good workplace that was supposed to feel like family. They lacked passion for the job. The interview process should be more complex than it is so supervisor's and upper management aren't just hiring "anyone." Overall, if it weren't for some of the things i've witnessed and dealt with in the workplace, drama etc, then I would still be working here with the individuals. i miss them so much!

DePaul has an extraordinary group of employees who support a culture of trust and respect.  It has been the most supportive place I have worked--and also the most accountable.  We are driven by our vision of hope and belonging and everything we do is oriented to that.  We are a leader in our sector and in the communities we serve.  Internal communication is open and leadership lets us know we are valued.

If you like being micromanaged then this job is for you, think you can’t be if you’re working from home, you are wrong. Manager called, emailed, messaged, video chated, and texted constantly, non stop, no respect for your personal time, nights, weekends, evenings they expect you to be available 24/7.  Zero home life balance. Not worth the stress. No advancement, no raises, and a workload that is completely unrealistic. I hated my time there. 

Management sacrifices programming for the security of their executive staff.  It started out enjoyable under prior leadership but ended not so under current.  The environment wasn't conducive to advancement or retention.  Primary focus appeared to be monetary advancement and salary increases for administrative staff and everyone else to include staff and clients expendible.  Only motivation for staying so long my love and concern for the clients.

DePaul is extremely flexible and I have more PTO than I have ever had at a job.  The executive leadership team are all people I respect, and my boss always respects my time.  Everyone is kind and helpful, and the benefits are kind of insane.  They care way more about people and doing the job right than making a quick buck - hard to find these days!  

As an in-home mentor I provide relief for the primary care providers of patients with disabilities. I care for the patients basic needs such as hygiene and nutrition while engaging them in activities in the community such as church services or walks in the park. I am also responsible for completing daily notes on their progress and medical needs.

Competitive work culture, seemingly friendly environment when you first begin to work there. Much more travel involved than was stated during the interview. Pay was satisfactory. Benefits were satisfactory. Obvious playing of favorites on the part of supervisors. Minimal job training; pretty much on your own OJT.
