They do not care about what you can handle as a manager and what you cannot handle. I experienced a very high burn out and their response was "thats the job, you can have monday off." They also do not give you a work phone so you are using your personal phone there which is fine but staff do not utilize the on call system so you are constantly working and getting calls and texts at all hours of the day and you cant turn off your personal phone because.. its your personal phone and you need to reach friends and family. You are also in charge of scheduling when you are a manager there, I got virtually no help with that so I was always working direct care shifts 12+ hours a day making no money. When I did the math as a manager I was making only $2-$3 an hour. They will also give you multiple houses with Multiple individuals for very low pay creating a heavy work day.  The DMs there (some of them) have never even stepped into the houses that you are managing so they are clueless in helping you brainstorm. Not 1 person offered to help me with open shifts and I covered shifts for many other managers. When I had open shifts other managers would take float staff and use them so I had no resources available for me. Super selfish.  Staff are underpaid and overworked. Office politics are heavy there as well, everyone seems nice but will stab you in the back the second you leave the office. They promise positions and don't fulfill them, they lack in communication as well. 

My typical day required a huge heart and being prepared for anything from someone with any disability at any age and the ability to work though any situation. I learned how to care and understand what people with disabilities go through everyday and what they need to make their lives easier. Management was always a tremendous help with anything and any question I ever had. Always helpful and constantly compassionate to any situation. Being required to work in a clients house and adapting to their world and routine. But not only assuring that the job is done precisely to the client but to the family as well would have to be the hardest part of that job. The most enjoyable part of this job I would have to say was not only making new and awesome friends but over time, watching my clients grow into a more fulfilling and enjoyable life as they overcome their disabilities and learn to adapt to their communities and everyone involved in their life and also have some enjoyment in their lives as they overcome their disabilities one day at a time.

I get to set my own day and manage my shift without supervision. With that said, I have a great relationship with my supervisor and the rest of the management. We have a mutual trust for one another and for a supervisor to trust me on doing my job well (out in the field with very little to no supervision in a home envrionment) is not something you can find often at other companies. 
Every shift I get to work is rewarding as I get to spend time with individuals with unique abilities. I assist with risk management and help clients attain goals by focusing on activities they could potentially do independently. The only challenge I see in the job is when the client cannot overcome some of the obstacles in order to attain their goals. It is the challenged they put on themselves. That's where I step in as positive reinforcement and keep encouraging my clients to keep trying. I enjoy the relationship I build with my client and feel like I am integral part of their life. That is the most rewarding aspect of all.

I was very optimistic about working here. During my interview, I was told so many great things about this company, but after working for a few weeks, I’ve seen how toxic it is. Management doesn’t care or help when you reach out to them. They promote remote work, but then will ask you to come work in office. The individuals are fantastic, it’s too bad they’re stuck with a company that only cares about profit or themselves. When you talk to management, they give off vibes that they’re important. When you talk to a Leader, they’ll give off vibes that you’re important. There are no leaders here. There is so much office politics. I’ve never been in a more toxic environment in my life. Everyone backstabs each other and HR pretends everyone is a happy family. Stay away from here or if you’re already here, get out fast. 

This job is terrible, you are pretty much a personal taxi driver for these "clients." Supervisors only care about getting the PCA hours in, so they hook you up with clients untrained and expect you to know what to do.

You are literally a taxi driver, just taking them from place to place using your own car. You get reimburse but your car mileage will go up a ton. If a client wants to be driven from St.Paul to Hopkins, you gotta take them there and back. It is just not a good job at all and you just question your life.

Lastly if clients cancel appointments with you at the last minute, you don't have to work but you also don't get paid. Sometimes they will send you to work with a random client who is violent and out of control.

Only two good things are that sometimes you work with really cool clients and you can kinda work around your schedule if you are a college student or whatever.



There are pros and cons to this company. The pros are that the clients are AMAZING. I've met a lot of great people working here. The coworkers are supportive and fun to work with. It's easy to balance your work schedule with your personal life. It's also easy to request time off. 

The cons are the management is unorganized, the pay is low, and your time can be wasted. I've driven to pick up clients and didnt get notification that they canceled. The company won't pay you for that time or mileage. The pay is low and you could make more money working with other companies. I've gotten last min texts from the manager asking where I was and I'm supposed to be with a client. I didnt get notification, and it wasnt on my schedule.

I think it's a good company to get your foot in the door and build your resume. I've had good days and bad days. Ultimately, I quit because I graduated and found a teaching position.

There is no work life balance, and if you get sick then they will fire you

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No help when covering shifts.  Some times I work 48 hrs straight and then got in trouble for it.  After telling them I told my supervisor, and that I couldn't get it covered I still got written up.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very nice people.  The training is wonderful, the office is lively.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get to the office by 8am or 9.  Go to all ur houses and pick up whatever is needed.  Go shopping if needed.  Listen to any client complaints
 Go back to the office so your paperwork, make phone calls, answer emails, write ur schedules, cover any shifts you have open and go home unless you have to work a shift.

It was always wonderful.  People we. cared for were wonderful .  Other workers were wonderful as well...

When people were late or called in .  But we always could call the office and it was always taken care of.,,we were all a family.  ❤️  I am a DSP....

Some are smoother than others some are a handful but we always worked together to help one another and the clients.

It was nice always fun .  The clients get to know you and they know they can trust us. , we are there for them.

The support that I received from my immediate supervisor. The camaraderie with the other program coordinators.

Quality assurance had their favorites and if you weren't they made your life difficult.

Completed paperwork did the clocks and logs read clients notes managed staffing check for medication errors completed all the paperwork necessary daily went to the sites to visit the staff and clients covered shifts when needed

I worked as a DSP for this company for a little over a year. There has been more then 3 supervisors hired at the place i worked at coming and going. I was told the company puts alot on the supervisors. The trainings are up to date. Its hard to get a day off of work even for "family emergency". I was told to find someone to cover my shift otherwise i would have to work. I think thats kind of ridiculous. There's no room for a raise even if you and everyone knows that you come into your job everyday and everyone (supervisors and lead staff) thinks that you are doing a great job and beyond your job, unless you been at your position for 2 years atleast or got a promotion to be lead or supervisor.
