I worked at Meridian Health Plan for about two years before coming to my senses and leaving.  To tell you the truth, I disliked working at Meridian from week one.  Job Work/Life Balance:  For most positions (even salaried positions) you work a set 8.5 hour shift, i.e.: 8:00am - 4:30pm, 9:30am-6:00pm.  I started as an hourly employee and found it annoying that I had to "clock-in" and "clock-out" multiple times per day, including a strict 30 minute lunch.  I was excited to get rid of this annoying task when I was promoted to a salaried position, however, nothing changed - I still had to use "task timer" to log my every move (when I was going on breaks, lunch, to meetings, in a training, going to the printer, using the restroom, etc.).  I also still had to work a set 8.5 hour shift, where I had to arrive and leave work at a designated time, even though I was not in an hourly position.  In my opinion, if you are hiring employees in a salaried position, you should not treat them as if they are hourly employees. The plus side of having a set shift is that you do have a work/life balance because, in most cases, you do not have to stay at the office late.  I say "in most cases" because that's definitely not always the case.  When I was an hourly employee, there was a time when my team was forced to do mandatory overtime hours - ten hours per month during the weekdays in addition to a full 8.5 hour day on three of the four Sundays out of the month (that's working 6 days per week for three weeks in a row).  Management would send emails out saying, "We appreciate your dedication and willingness to support our membership's needs during this time of rapid growth," however, it's not like we had a choice as it was mandated overtime.  Sure, for any overtime you are paid time and a half and at one point we were given additional PTO hours, but I would have rather enjoyed my weekend with my family and friends. Attendance policy at Meridian is extremely strict.  You will be penalized for getting sick, in a car accident, etc. and not giving your management proper notice (2 weeks is company policy) - that needs to be changed, as no one could possibly know that two weeks from today I am going to come down with the flu and will have to miss work for a couple of days.  It's not something employees should be penalized for.  Compensation/Benefits:  From the time I was hired to the time I left I saw an overall raise of about $3.50 an hour when I break down my salary.  That's not bad, but it's not great.  Around the time I left, Meridian increased the entry level pay rate to what I was earning after working there for two years.  I think it's great that they increased the entry level pay rate, because it was ridiculous that they were paying college grads so low.  However, it did annoy  me that they didn't increase everyone else's pay rates as well.  That is something they should do, because it does not make sense to have someone who has worked at Meridian for a week and someone who has been with the company for 2 years to be paid the same amount.  Bonuses used to be more generous, but not so much anymore.  I would not count on getting much of a year-end bonus at all, even if you are a top performer in your department.  Meridian offers full health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and a 401K plan with matching. Job Security/Advancement:  I am in total agreement with what everyone else says - it's all about politics at Meridian, if you want to get promoted to a leadership role.  Sure, you can get promoted to a different "level" of your current role based off your job performance.  However, if you want to get into a leadership role, or even transfer to a different department, it's very hard to do unless you are someone's favorite. Job advancement at Meridian is about kissing a** and about who you know high-up.  It's as simple as that. Job security at Meridian is a whole other story - employees are constantly being fired.  I've overheard management refer to certain departments as "a revolving door" and that speaks volumes. Management:  I think the quality of management depends on which department you work in.  Meridian does have an open-door policy, meaning you should be able to knock on management's office door or send an email to request a meeting with your manager or director at any point and have a conversation about whatever.  I know first-hand that this is not always the case - I've had positive and negative experiences with my direct management when it comes to this.  It has to be said that my most recent manager was the most unprofessional, inappropriate person I have ever worked with.  My manager would talk about her personal life (use your imagination) and drop the f-bomb, etc. basically every other sentence in weekly team meetings, would bash department/corporate policies, make jokes about spiking coffee to "get through the day," and the worst - at one point when I asked a question about a company policy and my manager didn't know the answer, my manager started speaking in a tone of voice that mimicked a person who is mentally challenged and said, "I might be r*tarded for not knowing the answer to this."  I was shocked and disgusted by that kind of behavior, especially in a work setting.  Job Culture:  Meridian does put in the effort to make it a fun company to work for.  There are seasonal company parties, weekly/monthly "mix 'n mingle" happy hours for networking, ticket giveaways for Detroit sporting events, IM sport leagues offered year-round, volunteering opportunities to promote community involvement, etc. - these are all great things that are offered for Meridian employees to participate in.  However, during working hours, not much good can be said about company culture.  I can only speak for the departments I worked in, but it seemed like EVERYONE around me disliked working at Meridian.  Most everyone who had been at the company more than 6 months was looking for employment elsewhere.  There was so much negativity in my department that our management had to address it in multiple team meetings.  I have never worked at a company where the team morale was so low, as a whole.  I'm very happy I decided to leave Meridian.  When I walked out of the doors on my last day it was like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.  The only things I miss about working at Meridian is being right in the heart of downtown Detroit and the friends I made while working there for two years.

Out of all the positive reviews about this company, I'm ashamed that I have to be the one to tell it how it is.

This is a sink or swim environment, period. It all depends on what department you are in, what degree you may have, or who you can brown nose next. I was part of the Operations team, and my job was to resolve technical issues.

In the very beginning, the job was great. I would come into work, do my own morning routine, and wait until the requests or incidents started rolling in. I felt very important and felt like I was a vital part of the entire health plan. I woke up every morning happy and actually ready to go to work, rather than dread having to go in.

Well, come mid 2013, we were notified that changes were starting to come. We gained new contracts, got more employment opportunities, etc. While this should be exciting, it was not exciting news for me.

This was going to result in a heavier workload, more dedication to work over life, and more inventory to take account for. I was in desperate need for another technician. I was given help, but I was never involved in any of the interview processes. How are you supposed to get someone to help the technician if they aren't a good technician in the first place? I needed to see how quick they were with their skills, and I never got the chance to get involved with that. The CEO of the health plan even told me TO MY FACE that he would guarantee more technicians, but of course, he lied about that and completely forgot. I don't buy the whole "I'm a different kind of CEO. I actually care". No, you don't care. You only care about your own agenda, your name on a plaque or two, and that six to eight figure paycheck you get every year.

Then it got to the point where everyone expected something out of me, regardless of the situation. If I even politely told someone that I was unavailable and that their request would have to wait, they would throw a huge fit until I immediately addressed their issue. I guess you could say the company spoiled the employees to "excellent service".

Then my manager at the time quit without telling me. Yeah, thanks alot!

After my manager had quit, I was assigned to the FACILITIES department. FACILITIES. Let that sink in right quick. The technician...is part...of the FACILITIES TEAM?! Who makes this stuff up at Centene?! Who designs the employment structure?! Because it surely isn't someone educated in that field!

So from there, I was the computer technician AND responsible for EVERY SINGLE DAY TO DAY TASK IN THAT OFFICE.

I was even assigned tasks that they KNEW I wasn't qualified for! Like putting up whiteboards, cork boards, and electric work!

They also assigned me to a manager that had no technological background, no management background, and came from a position making $8.50 an hour...DID ANYONE CHECK THE QUALIFICATIONS HERE?! So since the manager has no idea what they are doing, they get angry with me when I tell them that something cannot go their way. Even if their request is IMPOSSIBLE to fulfill, the management would bark up my tree in ANY WAY shape or form so that they could get their way! It was an EXTREMELY hostile environment.

This health plan does a good job...at health stuff. Other than that, every single day is an unorganized mess. They would constantly put more work on top of more work. Nothing could be done in a timely manner! This company is still trying to BLUEPRINT how they want to do things on a day to day basis. 

I felt EXTREMELY belittled every day when I worked there. I felt discriminated against for my age, and I also feel like people didn't appreciate the things I did. I was CONSTANTLY filled with anxiety and always worried about my next move. I would drive home every single afternoon worried if I did something wrong.

I could literally write a book about the negative things there, but I'll leave it at this. If you are looking to work with this company, you may have a better experience since you may be working in a medical field. However, all the staff has their downfalls. I heard my fare share of bad things about different departments, and also the managers that run them. Some are nice, some are crazy.

If you are looking for a technical support position, you'd have better luck applying for AT&T Technical support or a technology firm. Don't go to LAHCC, or you'll turn into a cup-fetcher.

Direct quote from current coworker: "If people actually liked their jobs, no one would be drinking during breaks and lunches."
-Incompetent management- never promoted from hard work, but through favoritism, relationships  and politics
-People who had been in the department longer than me always warned newcomers that you have to be careful because Meridian "is shady with the way and frequency that they fire people." I didn't believe this at first because the environment seems very fun and upbeat, but then I noticed that employees started disappearing from the department. 
-Micromanaged (I know everyone says that, but SERIOUSLY micromanaged). You cannot go anywhere without recording it.
-No sick days- you start off immediately with 40 hours of PTO- sick days, vacation, doctor's appointments, death of a friend/family member. Hopefully you don't get sick often! People constantly come into work sick because you have to use your PTO. If you're sent home because you're sick, you still have to use your own PTO. You also need a doctor's note.
-30 minute strict lunch/15 minute breaks. It takes 10 minutes just to get in and out of the building to be able to get outside or even to a different floor. Lunch always ends up being 20 minutes or less if you choose to eat outside. Forget about eating lunch somewhere else.
-Unfair standards of different departments. Some are invited to events involving drinking DURING the work hours, while others have a strict no alcohol policy.  It is not uncommon to find lingering alcohol on the 14th floor, or kegs on the IT floor during drinking related holidays, but if you work for any other department, but choose to drink at your discretion, because they may choose to fire you for it.
-Many departments are revolving doors. Meridian prides itself on being a fast growing company, but that is because they have such a high turnover rate. They fire just as quickly as they hire. A friend of mine worked as an intern in the HR department and her duties for all day everyday were to fire and escort people out of the building. (Takes about 15 minutes or less-I unfortunately know from experience.) They also call it an exit interview, but actually, you get yelled at without a chance to even say a single word. They do not give warnings, they just fire- at many times based on word of mouth. They do not ask for your side of the situation, they just assume and fire you without question. If you ask me, that doesn't coincide with the "Meridian Family Values" that are sooooo important for every employee to embody. Last time I checked, being a "Family member" does not consist of treating an individual like they are nothing or like they are disposable. 
-Employees are extremely disposable. Meridian treats the employees like a warm body to fill a chair.
-You are more likely to get fired for the "culture" they shove down your throat, than your actual work. You may be good at your job, even exceeding, but if you don't display the "Meridian Family Values" every second of every day, they will find out and they will fire you.
-Clicky, gossipy- you will get targeted if you don't succumb to that lifestyle.
-Parking garages are at least 15 minute walks away from work

TO MANAGEMENT:
Interpret as you wish from previous statements. All of which were recently experienced by both terminated and current employees. All of the negative comments were not directly experienced by me, but by many employees. It is a waste of time and resources to discard of employees who make honest mistakes as quickly as meridian does. Your executives and managers set a terrible example by being unprofessional in presentations with the constant F bombs and swearing, and by the amount of drinking that takes place. The only reason why MHP employees go to MHP events outside of work is because of the amount of free booze you give away. You should try holding one outside of work hours that doesn't have alcohol- see the difference. Set clearer standards- have one standard for everyone within the company. Management is extremely unprofessional.

I will start with the PRO- the one thing that keeps me working here- I LOVE what we are called to do- serving military members and their families. We exist to remove the stigma of seeking problem solving support, and are given so much flexibility in doing so. Our direct managers seem helpful and available and also support the greater cause. The day to day work is amazing and full of potential for so much good. The pay is also pretty good until you compare other jobs that pay comparably and offer so much more in benefits. Leads me to the CONs- 

While working for a huge corporation where we can see but not partake in benefits, I think it is fair to say we are treated as "less than" employees. (I will say, Centene took over the program in the time I've worked here and I am saddened to see the changes in pay and benefits they have implemented; I know it could be done differently.) They want us to be or make ourselves local to military installations, yet offer the worst benefits to encourage us to stay:

While employees of Centene Corp, including our direct managers, receive great benefits packages with options for health, vision, and dental insurance, MFLCs are only given one option which is the most ridiculous high deductible plan I've ever seen (one that, HR doesn't have the details to provide since I am sure they don't want to scare people off before they start, but expect to pay $6K out of pocket annually before any benefit fully kicks in). We are not given options for dental or vision. There is no retirement plan available for us. While part of our work is to encourage self-care of our military members, we are not provided any PTO and are discouraged and hassled should we want to take three or more days of unpaid leave (it interferes with their numbers). We are given 6 paid sick days per year, but are told they are not to be used for mental health days to offset not having PTO.

They do not provide anything more than an outdated cell phone and brochures as far as supplies go- that is okay, but then they require you to upload numerous programs to your personal computer in order to do work that they expect. MOST of the time, it is not a big deal, but when you can only communicate with certain departments via their "intra net" it is extremely time consuming and messes with your computer. Expect to spend hours on hold if you can call a helpdesk but also expect that they'll send you to the intranet for submitting tickets more often than not. Tickets are often pushed closed without clear communication or resolution in my experience.

Management is constantly thanking you for your work, but expectations have recently become 100% accountability for productivity as in, they want contact for 8 hours per work day! Never have I seen that expectation in my work as a therapist, let alone with the aforementioned terrible benefits and lack of administrative support. 

They ask more and more and give less and less- salaries used to be a two tiered system- recently, the top tier was cut and people took a very large pay reduction. This is not a program that treats employees as if they'd like to retain them. 

Bottom line: If you have excellent benefits (health, dental, retirement) elsewhere and do not mind not having time off, this is truly a dream job. I do not say that with sarcasm- even the IT issues and unrealistic expectations can be ignored for how great the military side treats us, but definitely go in with eyes open. I am hoping things change so it can really be a career for those of us who love the day to day work.

I worked for Centene’s market plan in Ohio from 2014- May 2022, then decided to leave, I gave notice and worked through that date, so I left on good terms. I did a review in May 2022 as well. Fast forward to Oct 2022, I ended up back at Centene after a manager reached out to me to come back on a contract for Ambetter, Shared Services. Absolutely loved the team, management, and my teammates. I ended up securing another corporate position on my current team in May 2023 as an FTE. To compare both of my experiences from 2014-2022, 2022 to current, would be apples & oranges. My current situation is one of growth, acceptance, calmness, & mutual respect. Workplace culture is great for me. A typical day at work is to attend mtgs, do UAT testing, state specific testing, and weekly some off cycle testing. My work is TC Cloud related. Sometimes if I don’t have a specific assignment, I will ask to shadow a teammate just to see what they’re working on, & vice versa as everyone doesn’t work on the same assignments all the time. My direct people leader was a teammate who earned a promotion to Supervisor. We have open communication, monthly 1:1, and if I have questions or need anything, I have a conversation w/her, she has an open door policy, is very approachable, she’s been great. I don’t suffer in silence, I ask for help. This time around, I have learned to show myself grace-not knowing everything is an opportunity to learn, contributes to an agile mindset, and growth. Not working myself dizzy just to be & stay the “top performer.” Our team culture is uplifting, we collaborate so well, & everyone is open to answering questions, & addressing concerns. The hardest part of my job really is just retaining a lot of the IT stuff & technical aspects & lingo, but I’m learning and growing. The most enjoyable part of my job is doing quality work, and making sure my contributions and approach to my work benefits the enterprise. This time around, I have a much better work/life harmony. I have had no issues w/flexing time or being approved for time off. I’m not as stressed out & my mental health isn’t suffering like it was prior when I worked for the market plan, those last 2.5 years were the worst. I feel very blessed to have a second chance at Centene. It’s so important to network, there are many EIG groups that you can join internally, which is amazing. I have a great Sup and Manager, I know everyone isn’t as lucky as I am, but my experience this time around is different, in a great way!! I feel valued, uplifted, and supported every day I log on to work, & that was not the case my 1st “go round”. There is opportunity for growth & elevation, but you have to be engaged, proactive and showcase that intention & CenTeam spirit. 

The only cons that I have at this time are: the benefits are expensive, they always have been for an insurance company IMO, but if you complete Healthy Pathways by middle of Nov, you get a discount on the next year’s health coverage benefits. 
Another con is that there is no more annual bonus for a lot of the employees, & there should be. Some employees are still getting bonuses depending on their title, ex. Senior or Lead, & compensation tier, ex C6. Everyone should be able to enjoy that “benefit” if qualified, and somehow this doesn’t exemplify “We do what’s right, not what’s easy.” Overall, I’m pleased with the environment, team, & the work that I do to keep Centene moving in a forward thinking, digital landscaping way. I have not one regret about returning to this company, and I plan on being here as long as time allows me to do so.

Honestly, Centene as a company is good, but AcariaHealth as a branch, is horrible. Good health benefits, decant PTO, opportunity to grow (within centene as a whole, not AcariaHealth), and “OK” pay, depending on the branch you work at. 

My experience with AcariaHealth started off very well. I honestly thought it was one of the better organizations I have worked at. Very laid back, not very micromanaged by management as long as you did what you were supposed to do, department moral was unexpectedly high, the leadership team cared about the employees, development was the best I had experienced; all-in-all, a great company. Until new management was introduced. That’s where it all went down hill from there. 

There were more employees being let go then being hired which meant we were extremely understaffed. Management would find ways around the rules to let employees go and the HR team was so intimidated by management that they looked the other way and allowed it. 

Management lead every meeting, changes, conversation, etc. with fear and threats. There were a lot of “cliques” within the leadership team. There were conversations/“gossip” that some leaders would have about employees and how they should find a way to let certain employees go just because they ask to many questions, have an opinion, question a policy change that doesn’t make sense, or just because they plainly don’t like the employee for whatever personal reason. If you weren’t liked by management, you would always be walking in the building on eggshells with a target on your back wondering if today was going to be the day that they would come up with whatever reason to let you go. 

Development/advancement also became very difficult. They only developed/advanced employees that were liked, part of the “clique”, did what they told you to do (even if that meant breaking a policy), or female. You could consistently be the top performer of the department and have a proven track record of your abilities, but if you weren’t liked by management for any reason, asking to be developed or trying to advance was nearly impossible. If you tried to leave the department/branch to go to another department/branch within Centene, management would find a way to stop it from happening and keep you there because they found some sort of pleasure in knowing that you couldn’t go anywhere within the company without them approving it. Therefor, you were stuck there until you either left the company on your own or they found a way to let you go first. 

Some leaders would become friendly/“close” with an employee just to find out what their weakness was so it could be used at a later time or to find out personal information to start a conversation/“gossip” with other members of leadership or even other employees; lack of work ethic and plainly disrespectful. 

I understand we all need a job and have responsibilities to take care of, that’s why I say, if you are considering working for AcariaHealth, please make sure to stay to yourself, stay under the radar, don’t get to friendly with anyone, and always have a plan “B” under your belt. 

All-in-all, great experience that allowed me to learn a lot and toughen my skin, but I would not recommend trying to make a career at AcariaHealth. At least, not in the operations side of it.

The company has wonderful, innovative and inclusive goals. I feel extremely proud  to be a part of Centene. However,  As time progresses, I realized all the wonderful perks, inclusion groups, company goals etc...are really a mirage. None of it is applicable to the front line employees. We are required to work long hours, we are assigned more work than is possible to complete with impossible to meet deadlines without putting in hours evenings, nights and weekends. We are reprimanded for not meeting the impossible goals and deadlines. This results in a culture where everybody is over worked, stressed, tired and the motto is "you're salary, you work long as it takes to complete the tasks"  There are an excessive amount of trainings, meetings, emails and interruptions throughout your work day, causing you to become distracted, make mistakes and fatigued.  It is highly stressful simply due to poor culture, poor leadership, micromanagement and very frequent changes in process, duties, responsibilities, and workflow.  I am told this environment is limited to my specific team, however, the company is enabling this environment and allowing this to be a part of the culture. As an employee, I feel very disheartened by this. I want to remain an employee for Centene and find a team where I can be appreciated, grow and blossom. However, my manager cannot keep people longer than a year or two due to this culture, so we are given the choice to either stay and endure or quit and go elsewhere. I have attempted to discuss my issues with HR, they acknowledge that what I'm reporting is against company police, nothing comes of it. I literally just get a survey a couple days later saying "rate your experience with HR" I work 10-16 hours a day and make 8000$ less than I did in 2012-2020. They offer bonus, however, it was about 1/2 of what I could make just picking up 1 extra shift a year in the hospital. The bonus is yearly. The company benefits are awesome, but you don't have time to use them as you are always working.  Holidays off only mean one less day to complete the same amount of work, so holiday weeks are very stressful. I do want to say, I have been told this experience is limited to my team only. Again, the company itself seems to be wonderful, but my experience has been very stressful. I remain employed in the hopes I will someday be allowed a transfer, as I would love to remain an employee of Centene. I just think the management style of my "people leader" is not conducive for growth, opportunity and positive work environment. It has become clear to me that she is valued more by the company than all of her employees, as they continue to allow her to manage a team with poor leadership skills.  My particular role would be perfect if I did not have a family to care for and could dedicate myself to 12 hour days. It's a good fit if your kids are grown or you only work to feel fulfilled. My particular role is not ideal for people who have other activities or responsibilities to tend to, as you would not have time to. My role is not ideal for single parents, or parents of small children, or people caring for other people. You simply do not have time to do anything but work, eat, sleep and work again. 

On paper, Meridian Health Plan (MHP) appears to be an attractive employment opportunity. It touts itself as a fast paced and growing company in the healthcare space. While that is true, be careful of ”gotchas” that come with the company culture. While MHP may look good from afar, the truth is that it’s far from good.

Don’t be fooled by the “Top 100 places to work in Detroit” advertisements. Employee satisfaction is low, which is evidenced by a turnover rate of over 40%. Repeat: Turnover is over 40%!!!

The Human Resources paradigm at MHP is unlike anything you could fathom, and is the furthest thing from being a service to “internal customers” (employees). HR leadership oversees a “churn and burn” culture and governs their archaic policies with an iron fist. Communications are poorly communicated with little explanation other than a “do it now because we said so” attitude. Employees are not treated with respect and they have no consideration for work/life balance.

On the service side of HR, responses are slow and they seem generally overwhelmed or too busy to get to employees, who tend to be a “nuisance”. Simply put, HR does not “give em the pickle” (customer service credo expected of employees).They don’t empower departmental managers and override their authority with regularity. If they just learned to get out of the way and do their own job, the company would be a much better place to work.

Even the company’s attempts at employee recognition are out of touch. MHP offers a politics infused “Employee of the Month” program (like you would find at any fast food job).

Prospective employees should strongly consider reading the employee handbook prior to accepting an offer. The handbook will be followed to a ‘T’ and you will have absolutely no exception or relaxation to anything written in that handbook whatsoever (like family emergencies). If you are not comfortable with the way the policies are written, then you won’t be comfortable at MHP.

You should also ask for all contractual information in advance. The company will make you sign agreements that are contingent of your employment. Read these agreements CAREFULLY.

Benefits are mediocre. The health plan is not the greatest. 401k matching up to 4% is a good benefit, but takes up to 9 months to kick in. PTO time accrues based on “time-served” (pun intended). Employees are generally discouraged from taking time off and policies are written to the lowest common denominator, thus allowing MHP to veto your PTO plans as they see fit.

MHP is not a destination for professional or well qualified employees. Low performers or employees without skill sets may get opportunities at MHP that they would not get otherwise at other companies. That is a plus (depending on your situation), but also means that there are a lot of unqualified people in positions that you will have to work with (and your job may depend on).

MHP is not the place to get your “foot in the door” for healthcare or work for a “noble cause.” MHP is out to make money just like any other company and contractually will prevent you from going to a healthcare competitor.

I just really can’t come up with any reason anyone should consider MHP as a place of employment, unless you can’t get hired anywhere else

My manager was a bully who engaged in the following unprofessional behavior:

•	Notorious micromanager who reveled in tightly controlling the work of their subordinates.
•	Lacked the ability to interact with others in a normal manner. Often yelled and belittled people instead of respectfully making their point. Unwilling to complement employees when deserved.
•	Played favorites with employees. Favored employees were allowed to openly break the rules and perform at such a low level that they were effectively rendered incompetent.
•	Did not consistently hold employees accountable for quality of work. For instance, one employee kept track of user acceptance testing issues by scribbling them on post it notes that were shoved into a desk drawer. These issues should have been recorded in a tool such as Excel or SharePoint.
•	Berated employees for not completing an impossibly large amount of work in a very short timeframe. Did not listen to explanations on why this timeframe was insufficient. This was often used as an excuse to discipline employees.
•	Made up and changed rules on the fly in order to fabricate reasons to discipline employees.

Other concerns with Centene outside of my management include:

The cliquish coworkers ostracize those who are not friends with them and exclude them from work related conversations and meetings.

One coworker in another department developed the habit of not communicating with me directly when contacted with work related items. They preferred instead to communicate indirectly through another coworker who happened to be their friend. 

The team that my group interacted with most frequently was impossible to deal with due to their rude behavior. One person on that team falsely told me that they could physically visit my team’s workspace to discuss work items, but that we weren’t allowed to visit their workspace. They even refused to tell me where their team worked at. 

I never received the proper systems accesses to fully perform my job. Nobody even seemed to know all of the necessary accesses for my position. There should have been a list of the accesses needed for each role.

My department technically had SharePoint, but it was unusable due to not being set up properly. Nobody knew who to contact to set it up properly. Other teams had functioning SharePoint sites, but they were unwilling to help us.

The turnover in my department was astonishing. The department had 23 employees and I only know of three who were in the department for 3 or more years, but there may have been two or three others.

Centene has an obnoxious requirement that male employees at the corporate headquarters in Clayton, MO (St. Louis area) wear ties as part of the corporate formal dress code at headquarters. This only applies to Clayton and does not apply to the rest of the St. Louis area or elsewhere in the country. The tie requirement needs to be removed.

Pros to Working at Centene:

Despite the many concerns I have with Centene, there are many good people who work there. These people mainly exist at the rank and file and first line supervisor levels of the company. It appears that one has to internalize the mean culture of Centene in order to advance to the rank of manager or above.
