The Health Home program has so much to offer but people are not really wanting to sign up for the services they will miss appt.'s give the wrong numbers, will not call if not wanting services but when things get a little rough they will call and want the workers to solve all the issues that they have let get out of control. I have learned so much of all services, my Supervisor is tops she is very understanding but most of all she will allow me to choose when I go out in the field, she has helped me to say no if I am unable to, meaning Never promise what isn't in my job description, my coworkers are very lovely talented women from different nationalities, but more so they are all caring young women that want the best for the families that we are all trying to help. The hardest part of my job is not being able to give the client the help that they ask me for especially when not only them but we all need housing affordable housing and most of all work paycheck to paycheck so I can imagine how it is for a family with 1 pay check or no paycheck life can be very stressful. but I do love it when I or the staff can help a family find what they are needing, whether it being doctor therapist or a dentist by just helping in that part to making it easier it touches home meaning our job, my enjoyable part of work is knowing that I matter at my job my role in finding that client that has gone missing is what I enjoy cause when I find them its up to them to let me know if they want to continue services or not. A typical say at work is knowing that we all got home ok to make it back another day.

As a case manager I have found the Brooklyn offices to be a very hostile working environment. There are a number of programs all on the same floor, working under different grants, which creates a lack of unity. All staff appear to be over worked due to limited company funds, and there is little support from upper management.  The salaries are a real shock, when you consider the cost of living in NYC. Some programs receive raises BUT others don't. If you apply for a job ASK about yearly raises. It's not about how hard you work but what the actual grant is paying that you are working under for the year. Since EAC low-balls all their grants they are left with a tiny funding source, which doesn't cover hiring a reasonable staff for a reasonable salary. Most employees leave within a year (the smart ones) other's stay, due to their limited education or poor social skills. Even vacation time becomes a problem because if you want to go, there is no one to cover your case load and your supervisor makes you feel guilty or worst won't let you take the amount of time you put in for.  To top it off there is a nutty old supervisor who runs around opening windows (in the winter) because she claims she has "hot flashes" so everyone else in the office has to deal with it. This is one place I won't miss.

Revolving door of supervisors at the Central Islip courthouse children's center. No one lasts more than 18 months. Had to deal with "poor" members of the public all day long; aggressive, nasty, entitled women, who had the latest phones, manicures and designer clothes. "Please leave a number where we can reach you." "I don't have a number," they say, holding the latest iphone. These women know how to play the system, dropping their kids off with you like it was a daycare while they go shopping. How many times did I have to call the court officers, because parents wouldn't come back WITHIN THREE HOURS to pick up their kids? As usual with social services, there needs to be far more oversight, regarding misuse of the system.

Not all, but some of the staff are horrible. Horrible management, with no room to grow. They leave you stuck if they want. I always showed professionalism. But some can confirm that many staff members are grimy and talk behind your back. They do it to all. Serious lack of ethics in the work environment. You can go there as starting and to build resume. I loved what I did to help clients- it was my passion. However, many haters prevented me from growing. I had to take a pay cut because they lost funding and they moved me to another location far away. They gave me promises but never fulfilled them. Some staff members were very childish and bullied many others. No one honors you for your work and they don’t care.

The employees seem happy because they are on their social media half the day. The supervisors play favorites and those same people are not called out for coming in late or leaving early. The supervisors also do not take the time to train and Do not assist on difficult cases. There were employees who actually spent an entire morning shopping online and the supervisors were aware and did nothing.

Since the first day I started interning at EAC, specifically the Just For Dads Program, it has been a great experience. A typical day involves creating new client folders after the Case Managers perform an initial intake assessment of those clients and uploading that information onto the database. The day may also involve uploading scores from the various seminars provided for the clients onto the database as well. All the employees and management have been very friendly and appreciative of my assistance to the program. Everyone there does a great job in helping the clients get back on their feet and becoming better people overall.

This was my first professional employer post graduation. The company itself is very welcoming, inclusive, and offers a good benefit package. My coworkers at the time were all younger adults, so the office environment was great. Overall, the work itself could prove pretty stressful on some days because a large portion of the youth did not want to be in the program obviously. At the time, there was also a lot of gang involved youth and that is a challenge within itself. There is a lot of travel required for this position due to home visits, but the manager tries to give out case assignments fairly and strategically. 

I believe most of EAC programs is a god place to start as a entry level position given their salary payout. I believe the company is a great environment and has some really great Supervisors. The staff are very client oriented and believe in making a difference. Management can be rough as you are juggling many hats. You have to have great multitasking skills to keep up with the work. There is very generous time off and no issues requesting your time when needed. The are other perks that somewhat compensates for the low salary.

Management is unorganized and stressful. Most work is independent, without proper managerial guidance starting early on in employment.
Most days consisted of an abundance of client phone calls to return and the added excess of paperwork that flooded the workplace. Managers are often absent from the workplace which creates difficulty when problems arise with clients and paperwork. Managers often give little notice when pertinent paperwork needs to be taken care of, causing stress for part-time employees.

This job will have you overworked and underpaid. They rarely do raises, and will continue to add additional job responsibilities to your current work expectations, which is why the turn over is terrible at this organization. They are so cheap. Please do not apply here. Management is okay, they don't micromanage you as long as you do what you have to do.  However, sometimes they expect you to overextend yourself for the company, and some higher ups clearly have favorites.
