A typical day at work started at 2:30 pm. with a daily report from first shift about any resident's condition, showers or laundry that needed to be done, meal time and medication reminders, what residents needed to be accompanied to and from meals,and those that needed assistance getting ready for bed. Prepared medications to be passed and administered. Cleaned and maintained living quarters, which included: emptying trash, cleaning Bird Aviary, vacuuming halls, finishing facility's and residents laundry. Maintained security by locking all side doors with the exclusion of the main entrance doors until 9:00 pm. Observed and reported any changes in residents conditon to manager or supervisor on call. Listened and conversed with residents establishing interpersonal relationships, giving full attention to what they say, taking time to understand the points they make and what makes them happy or sad. Documented anything unusual or not, in second shift communication log book. Maintained medication and services performed records for current residents living at the facility. Made last minute security checks of all windows, doors and residents. Gave evening report to 3rdshift Resident Care Assistant.
What I have learned:
That by taking the time to actively engage in conversation with a resident and help them out in the smallest way possible, they become a much happier and appreciative person to me and others, that makes my day!
Management is a pretty tough job.
Co-workers, some you work with and get the job done, others, you just make the best of what can be done.
Hardest part of the job was when certain residents you connected with passed away.
The most enjoyable part of the job is when I got to have more one on one time with the residents by giving Chair Massages to them.

Working for Bethany Lutheran is not all it seems contrary to what they advertise online. It’s all sugar coated until you actually get to know the management & staff. The residents I will say, are amazing beyond belief. What can I say about the LPN at HH3 though? She’s very unprofessional & does not take her job seriously. She made 3-5 med errors in one month & just laughed about it & made it no big deal but if  a staff member made a bed error, it was a VERY BIG deal. She constantly harassed certain staff members & even residents just to push them to their limits whether it was over a staff member not coming into work because of the weather or even because a resident wanted to wear the same outfit the next day even though it was clean! Violation of resident rights!  This woman was & still is all about gossiping about EVERYBODY TO EVERYBODY! I don’t know she can even be a mother because she sure cant be a wife because no guy wants to be with a woman who’s got all mouth & no brain to her unless he hasn’t seen a woman in 20-40 years. She brings nothing to the table in that company other than drama so I’m not sure how she even got that job other than out of pure desperation. . I feel so bad for the residents & other staff that work in that home because this lady acts like a child. She will try to get you to not do something that is state & law required just to see if you won’t do it so she can write you up & play the telephone game to her boss.  Every time this lady gets called out on her nonsense, she automatically runs & calls her boss (the charge nurse) and wants to play the victim & make it sound like the other person started the problem with her.  I didn’t buy the victim from her because she was the one manipulating everyone that she could just because she gets enjoyment out it because she can’t do her job. If you want to keep your sanity & reputation, don’t work for that company.

A typical day really depends if staff call in and actually show up to work and when they don’t and the management does not step in makes it hard makes it a lot of stress on one person main person is the med person they have a lot to get time in a certain amount of time and they are expected to get meds passed and do cares and serve meals and also clean the dinning room and clean all the residents rooms and do there laundry and baths and vitals.. RCAs are doing nurses job while the nurses sit around and do nothing.. Management is the worst there i love all my co workers and still in contact with them loved the residents but to go for the management they are unprofessional and very disrespectful and very unfair they don’t listen when staff say there is a problem they do not listen when RCAS report NEGLECT.. They suck at listening. Mangers or Leads that go around and tell other staff/RCAs all the other RCAs business and gossip like we are in high school.. The hardest part of the job is being short staffed and not having any help or when you do have help you have help from mangers that don’t even know how to take care of the residents because they are usually hiding in there offices. Most enjoyable part is by far the residents they brighten days when you are having the worst day.. I would not recommend working there.. I worked there for 3 years and a year and about a half of it was good and great then some new managers and higher ups came in and have ruined a lot and made it that people hate there jobs. 

There are a lot of cons vs pros when working for Eagle Crest (BOC). I enjoy seeing my residents every day and working along side a great group of coworkers. The only thing that needs to be resolved is management. It's the lack of communication between RN's and RCA's, lack of training when first hired, lack of staff, and micromanaging are the biggest cons. The pros to this job is providing to your residents daily and feeling accomplished when you've done right, resident working relationships, and working along side a great team of coworkers/RCA's. Only forbid you get burnout when your team is lacking staff or you feel like your the only person keeping the company afloat. This job can be very stressful at times, some days are better/worse than others. Several employees I've worked with have left due to the toxic work environment and finger pointing for things that other people didn't take accountable of. I would advise you to be properly trained when first hired, that would avoid you from being possibly suspended or terminated in the long run. Avoid med errors. Always ask lots of questions to your RN's and trust your gut. Communication and proper training is key to make this business successful. Be confident in yourself.

Eagle Crest is an okay place to work. The residents are amazing, but we are chronically understaffed and under appreciated. They will hire almost anyone with no experience and keep the employees who clearly don’t care about their job or the wellbeing of the residents without giving them any coaching. Nurses are barely on the floor, and usually spend time sitting in their offices rather than actually on the floor working with the RCAs, CNAs, and residents. The job is extremely fast paced and honestly exhausting especially since we usually don’t have enough staff. Taking care of/getting to know the residents is what has kept me here, along with some good coworkers. But most of them don’t care about the work they are doing and put in minimal effort. The managers/supervisors also don’t care about the staff and don’t help when they are needed. They don’t do the bare minimum of what they are required to do like communicating with staff or keeping the units stocked with basic things we need. Beware if you are thinking about applying. You need to be okay with being a leader with little to no directions given, and dealing with taking on most of the work load that others are putting off. 

I put in 6 years of overtime, shift pick ups, overnights, and staying late and frequently found out new hires were getting paid the same, if not more, than me. I had so many valid concerns about the toxic work environment at ECC. Some nurses were bullies, frequently I found myself as a CNA running the memory care unit alone with another CNA member for the better part of 8 hours. I frequently brought concerns up with upper management and change never occurred. Sometimes upper management would bully employees. Patients always falling due to low staffing. High acuity needs. As a CNA you are responsible for cleaning, laundry serving meals, cleaning up plates, cleaning up garbage. It is so easy to get burnt out and there is no support. I loved the residents and my coworkers but management ultimately caused me to leave. It became unsafe. 

A typical day at work starts by clocking in and getting cart keys, work cellphone walkie and a pager. 
You then count narcotics and then start the floor. 
It is very fast paced work.
The job is typically chronically understaffed.
Higher ups don't really care about your opinions to make the workplace a better place and basically downgrade you and give you excuses as to why something can't be done.
Make sure you take a medication administration class once you get hired or you will always be nurse delegated.
Work culture revolves around who's had the most experience.
High turnover rate for staff and residents.
Hardest part of the job is being chronically understaffed, residents behavioral issues and having a cut-throat point system.
Most enjoyable is the relationships made with coworkers and residents.





Do you make tons of med errors? Do you give expired lantus and important medications after their expiration date....of more than 10 days! bcz you're too busy gossiping or making someone's life miserable? Then come work at Riverside! Come on in! They 'll protect you and guide you and love you and call you their own! This is no place to be a prefessional.....so if that is your goal ..turn around mister! This isn't the place for you! Do you love to cause drama? Do you like to ACT like you know what you're doing but really don't? Do you highly appreciate being set up and told to do something then get in trouble for doing it? Then by God! Come and WALK...no RUN right on in here! We have huge open arms for you

They only offer so many positions and 95% of these are less than 25hours a week, decent pay for the area but a raise once a year when you dedicate your whole life to the facility and your residents isn't very fair for what's expected + your very best efforts. Not really noticed for going the extra mile or rewarded. This company doesn't offer benefits, or PLT to part time employees or even a full time position to employees who have been around for years. The best part of my job is my co-workers and residents, and the care I provide. The company, and management are in my opinion very selfish and greedy.

the residents are wonderful and it is great working with them. however, the experience is completely tainted by the terrible management. the people who handle scheduling are terrible and are unwilling to work with their employees. They expect ample help from employees but are not willing to budge or help them out when needed. If you call in sick or something unexpected in life happens, do not expect any empathy or sympathy. They make you feel terrible and guilty for missing a single shift. They are also terrible at training employees so if you don't have much experience, don't work here.
