I was extremely disappointed with EdT for placing me at a school without them knowing the situation I’m in. I feel that as part of a hiring Agency, Their job is to ensure their employee has all work equipment necessities to be able to perform their job duties, most especially if you are hired “Full Time”. This is critical at ANY job you’re hired for. 

I was hired by Edtheory to start a full time job as a MH Therapist at their school-based charter school in EPA. Little did I know the condition of the place I'll be working at. I had no office, no table, no desk, no chairs, I was mostly sitting shadowing another employee who worked with children who has bx issues, conduct disorder and oppositional defiant disorder, mostly Axis 2 type in DSM. A very challenging population to work with especially if none of these children are on any type of Psychotropics and I’m a huge advocate for medication compliance given my work experience background working in inpatient Psych ward. What a difference I’ve seen what medications do for people. However, this was not the main reason I walked out of this position. 

The work situation was not ideal for what I had envisioned prior to accepting the job/task assigned to me. It’s how unbelievably disorganize the school was. In another “Trailer” building they just built, where I was told I would be “stationed” at, their rooms were a complete disorganize mess and likely expect me to organize and arrange all the office desk furnitures. They did not have any maintenance people working there. There was a small room to the right as you enter and its very dangerous as you can trip and fall on something, a room with a ladder bookshelf and two chairs- a sign that someone was actually conducting 1:1 Therapy there! Unbelievable. The whole room was a mess and there were plywood, boxes, lots of stuff laying everywhere. I wish I can upload photos here to show everyone. My first time seeing an environment in this horrid, unsafe and hazardous condition. No doubt EdT would be liable.

Needless to say, this Agency was a huge let down. I couldn't fathom how a professional worker eager to start working at this place could be treated so poorly. Theres just no way anyone would be happy working at this place. I seriously didn't waste time and got out of there. Toxic work, Toxic people. Yes, EdT tried and wanted to work it out with me, but one foot of mine was out the door by that time. I wore professional business dress attire for the few days I was there and my legs were being chewed by mosquitoes. The school was very dirty. I guess you should have gotten a clue since its “East” PA. I’m so glad I left. I haven't looked back since. 

I've worked with several contracting companies that serve school districts and EdTheory has by far been my favorite. My recruiter was absolutely wonderful to work with, and unlike other recruiter experiences I have had, he always has my best interest at heart. He was willing to work with me from day one to support my needs, including negotiating a very competitive pay rate for me. He was always prompt in communicating between me and the district, and in answering questions I had. Negotiating a contract with EdTheory was very easy and transparent. They have generous bonuses and allot a materials budget if you're in a district with limited resources. There's a lot of room to grow at EdTheory as they have contracts around the Bay area, and an international volunteer option. Of all of the companies that I've contracted with, EdTheory had the least amount of redundant paperwork and easiest HR system to navigate. Working with HR was always easy. They were always willing to help and is exceedingly patient. Every staff person I have worked with at EdTheory was genuinely interested in supporting me and ensuring job satisfaction. The work-life balance and company culture set EdTheory apart. I highly recommend EdTheory if you are interested in school-based work in the Bay area.

What is the best part of working at the company?
EdTheory takes care of you like a King/Queen. Each department is so helpful & approachable. They are very professional and are Subject Matter Experts in their own domain. I cherish working with them : )

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I really wish that at some point EdTheory would have their physical office where I would get to work with my all my colleagues at one place : )  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's very Lively, Friendly and at the same time very Professional where each one is an expert in their own domain. Once feels very privileged to have worked in EdTheory. I will be lucky if I get another chance to work with EdTheory!  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
1. Planning: Planning my day. 
2. Meetings: Checking with my team to regroup and discuss what everyone is working on.
3. Breaks: Taking 5–10 minute breaks throughout the day.
4.Lunch: Having mid-day lunch (30 min.)
5. Work: Connecting with candidates over the phone / email. 
6. Checking emails: Checking your emails and workload before you end your work.

I am happy and grateful to say that I have been working at EdTheory for almost two years. I can tell you that this is the only company where I have truly felt heard, valued, and supported. Everyone treats each other with high respect and lookouts for one another.

It's so difficult to find a company that thinks of your personal goals, your independent "life" needs, and what is best for you all around, but EdTheory surprised me! At first you read the benefits and think, ok, how much work am I going to have to do or what type of micromanaging demanding characters am I going to have to put up with to receive these benefits, but nope! They truly are committed to preparing you for interviews as they are to ensuring you are interviewing with the setting that provides you with the best fit. Their committment is beyond!! I had a life changing experience during my interview process which tends to never look good because no one wants an "excuse", but EdTheory listened, and moved forward with me. Once you're transparent and they have a good idea of who they are representing, THEY WILL WORK WITH YOU! I'd stick with them. Solid, safe and secure - that's EdTheory!

One of the best things about working at EdTheory is the incredibly supportive culture. The leadership team is truly exceptional; they don’t just manage, they stand by their employees. Whenever we face a challenging situation, leadership is right there in the trenches with us, brainstorming and solving problems as a team.

I discovered EdTheory through a former college! I was a direct hire and she was through them. She told me how it was working for them and I was immediately convinced. I gave in my 3 weeks notice to the company I was working for and joined with them asap! I applied online. They were very quick at responding! The staff is awesome. I always feel comfortable with them. I've had experiences with a certain agency where they seemed to not really care about you. Gracie and Brielle are FANTASTIC as well. Super kind. Brielle is always checking in with me which I love because it shows how they care about their staff. I would get calls from other people from EdTheory as well asking if I have any issues or concerns so that they can address it and just to see what they can do to resolve it. I've had no issues with them so far. I've been recommending them to all my former co workers. By far the best agency!

I am a new grad and I've been with EdTheory for almost half a year now and it's been great. I've been able to manage balancing school, work, and life working with them. I don't receive benefits/insurance because I work part time which is one of my cons to working here, but I do get a higher rate per hour because I don't get benefits which is fair and a pro to working here. If you work full time you can receive benefits and insurance but with a lower rate per hour. The management is very kind, communicative, and helpful. My breaks are short and I need to commute to other sites during my break so it's not really considered a lunch break in my opinion. Overall, I enjoy working here and working with the kids. 

At EdTheory I have had nothing but positive experiences. I received the type of placement that I was looking for. Any issues were immediately handled capably by HR and other support staff. Their management style is helpful and proactive but not micromanaged and intrusive. The workplace culture seems to be focused on problem solving and making sure that their customers are served efficiently. The hardest part of the job was some initial communication issues that were ironed out immediately. The most enjoyable part of the job was being given a placement at my ability level where I could be effective and serve the client well. They were flexible and found solutions to problems. I recommend them highly.
