Eggs Up Grill

Eggs up is not worth working for, and is incredibly disorganized. I worked there for a week, opening week. We didn’t get sufficient training, the owners and managers have never run or worked in a restaurant before, all of us were doing the work of three or more people. The trainers that were there tried and they were very sweet, but didn’t have enough time with us and every single person had a different way of doing the same task, and all of them would come within a few minutes and give conflicting instructions. With EVERYTHING we did. There was no way to properly serve any of my tables because we were absolutely packed, and still in training actively along with back of house which led to slow wait times and customers flat out walking out. They are incredibly inconsiderate, inconsistent, rude and overwork their staff. Opening week they scheduled reservations at 2p.m., right at close, and didn’t tell ANYONE working that day. We stayed an extra hour and a half waiting for them to leave past our scheduled times. I asked for three specific days off, the only days off I planned on asking for, for a class I had to do that they were informed of upon my hiring date as well as all the way up until time to approve those times. When it came time, I was approved for one day that I didn’t need and the schedule couldn’t be changed. You don’t get any of your credit card tips if someone paid in cash. Actually, you probably won’t see more than a third of anything you made on card. There’s so much more I could say, but working at Eggs Up has caused me more stress than any other job I’ve worked. There is no reason a job should cause that much stress, especially when said stress has leaked into your personal life and sleep. On top of all of that, if they see you are stressed, or if you cry, at least one person will ask you if you’ve ever served before and why you didn’t expect it. As well as completely overwhelming all of us, and not having enough staff, we were then blamed for things not going right and then our jobs and hours were threatened with Actually, anything that went wrong was automatically the fault of the employees, and most of the people in charge just pushed any blame onto us.“we will be hiring more servers to help, but don’t be upset with us when you don’t have any hours anymore.” Is what we were told when our reviews came in. Day one, they read out all of the reviews to us and then pulled us to the side in front of the other servers to tell us if it was about us or not. I would not recommend eggs up even to someone I hate. Again, there’s so much more I could say, but instead I’ll leave it at this. Eggs up is not worth your sanity, especially when they just serve brunch from 6am to 2pm. 

For the most part, I enjoyed working at Eggs Up Grill.
The store manager was very supportive, kind, understanding and helpful especially during peak hours. He helped us bus our tables and serve food when we were slammed. I can't say the same thing about the assistant manager. She wasn't handling stress very well and was unnecessarily mean to most of the employees except to a few of her favorites during busy hours. She could learn a thing or two from the store manager.
My co-workers were mostly friendly and it was great working with them.

The company is customer-centric which means they have plenty of servers working at the same time so all customers are served in a timely manner. Good for the customers, not so much for the servers. We don't get enough tables to be averaging more than $10-11/hr after tips. 
 

The job started off as a fun, exciting place to be but eventually lost ALL momentum.. as “managers” term used very loosely & owners started showing their TRUE colors. Poor communication, disfunctional, favoritism, overlooking well deserved employees to move up. Working days were long & very overwhelming. In the beginning they will make you feel like the most valued person but once they are “done” with they will do shady things such as take you off the schedule/cut your hours as some sort of “get back”. Instead of being a grown adult and communicating with employee. Even those complaints aren’t even the HALF of this very disfunctional location. The only fun part about coming to work were the coworkers & guests who made the place worth even coming in. 

It was fun for a bit but then everyone that made it enjoyable quit, most new ppl only lasted like max 2 months because we’ were overworked and under payed. I was balancing work and school for a while. I was virtual so I would attend classes on my phone. While  I was virtual I was working 6 days a week including weekends but then when summer started I only worked 2-3 days which was so dumb because I had so much time to work. My hours were cut and we weren’t allowed overtime. I’m also a minor that got no breaks and worked as expo, pancake grill, prep, dishes, and toast. It was fun till it wasn’t :) 

I liked what I did there, but it definitely felt like high school, especially with management. It’s not for those who keep to themselves, even if you work back of the house. Declining an invitation to any group outing is taken personally and things are often taken the wrong way. Also disclosed some medical information to explain how it impacted my work, which was then spread across the restaurant in an unfavorable light. 

I truly enjoyed the nature of the work and there were some very nice people there, but dealing with that really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt juvenile, but it’s fine if you’re not someone who deals with social anxiety. 

I’ll start of by saying the hours are only 6 am to 2 pm which is great if you have kids or stuff to do in the afternoons! The latest you would leave work from cleaning duties would be 3 pm and if you if you was one of the first people at work you are normally out of there by 12 pm- 1pm. The boss who owns the place is one of the sweetest people you would ever meet and he will work with you through anything. It is a fairly new place so it is really clean and the staff always cleans before we close up. It has got to be one of the cleanest kitchen I’ve worked for. If you are thinking about getting a job here I would totally recommend it! The pay is great some days you will walk out with $300 which is quite a bit of money for only work 8am-2pm (if your a closer) but most days you’ll make $100-$160 which is still great for the hours you work! 

Horrible management, everyone is extremely unprofessional especially management. worked as a server and was let go for eating out front with everyone else. Managers talk about you behind your back to other servers. Extremely high expectations, expect to be triple sat within one minute, and do not speak up about it. Overall toxic work environment, People of color please don’t work here.

I worked at a location in Florida and honestly, so many issues came from this place. No shift managers, just a GM who was always forced to do multiple positions. They would force the servers to do multiple jobs without compensation and would take all of the online order tips.  This is a franchise company so each one is run differently, but even when corporate visited they just didn't care. I loved my coworkers and the hours. I made enough to pay my bills at the start, but after a year+ working there, I had to start picking up side hustles due to a decrease in business. Overall, you're just another person to them, but you at least get decent hours and decent tips. 

a typical day at work is depending on what days i worked but i keep myself pretty busy.
i have learned to properly wash dishes that helps me gain experience will help me with future opportunities. the management is super nice and helpful if you do not understand your job they don't mind to lend a helping hand. the workplace is fast pace and pretty busy on weekends but the environment is easygoing and the employees are easy to get along with.
the hardest part of my job is when i'm backed up on dishes on a busy day.
i enjoy my work because its easy to understand and do and it gets my mind off of everyday stressful things in my life.

I personally enjoyed most of my time and what I did there. Weekends working there were the most physically demanding and exhausting (which wasn’t surprising). Everyone including myself ran around the restaurant trying to do everything to get the morning/day over with. Also most of the crew that I worked with were all messy! There was always drama with someone and everyone talks so I personally never put too much of my business out there because it would definitely be talked about in front of you or behind your back. But there was some people who were my age (I was 17, 18 at this time) who I really enjoyed while I was working there. The grown adults not so much.
