El Puente

Working at El Puente was a good summer experience. Working with multiple childern of different back grounds. Every week was something different from creative art projects to different types of field trips. My co workers we're great not just with the kids but with each other(got along well with each other). My bosses we're great firm but fun. We learn how to be perfect role models for our students. Worked with kids and youth ages 6- 16. This experience was unforgettable.

Working at El Puente enabled me to learn quite a bit about myself. It taught me what to look for in a supervisor, my coworkers and in a healthy work environment. The management here was especially caring and helpful, yet tough. They want to see you do well. I worked there for a summer, but I immediately felt apart of a family. I worked with young children and it was a very rewarding job. Putting smiles on these kids faces was an amazing feeling. If you want a job with purpose, this is the place.

Working at this place in the beginning, was a breeze, but then a change in leadership and a change in staff and a constant change of routine amongst the team. The director does not care for their employees and they are too caught up in work drama. This place also failed to support me When I made a complaint against another employee that made me feel uncomfortable. This place is unhinged and their priorities are not in order. Do not work here. Save your time. 

I was involved in counseling young students (5-13) years of age into learning about the arts as well as tutoring. The main skill that I had to harness is patience! It may seem that it should have been already established before I was hired but when it comes into the concept of becoming an appropriate role model; you learn a few things. I am being general because you have to be open to anything that can happen in any instant.

I would not recommend employment here as a long term option. But it is a good entry level position to get your feet wet in Youth Development.  I started here as a youth and gradually advanced. The organization is riddled with financial problems that trickle down in to salaries.

It was a great learning experience for me because going to school and working helped improve my time management.I was surrounded by great mentors and work colleagues who help my school and the college process .

Everyday is a new learning experience ,
U also get to learn from not only the kids 
But from the mentors themselves, if you enjoy kids as well as helping them learn or helping them at all this would be a great place to start.

the shifts, unclear job descriptions 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
very welcoming

I felt inspired by that building and their community right away, very challenging job but extremely rewarding. I had  learned so much from young members, community and staff... it feels like family

The organization is very disorganized and has no clear direction of what is the true mission. The staff is spread thin and overworked. There is no work/life balance as you are expected to attend every event.
