I worked with this organization for almost 3 years. As with any start up company, there is the initial high turnover as the organization grows and develop key talent, expands its capabilities and onboard new clients. During my journey, I have had the opportunity to make long term friendships that have survived outside of Elligo. The organization has and always will have a warm place in my heart. For me, I have always felt a familial connection to this organization and a sense of loyalty that has fostered over the years. This is reflective of the staff and the deep devotion they have to their job and the strong belief in Elligo's mission. The goal is to connect as many patients to clinical research opportunities that they would not previously have had access to based on their location and limited resources. In just a few short years, Elligo has widened its scope of therapeutic offerings, connected clinicians to a myriad of research opportunities and engage patients as research as a care option is being promoted. Brilliant minds have been quickly recruited to fill a number of evolving opportunities to propel this organization forward. The pandemic has impacted staff retention as Elligo pivoted to keep the organization afloat. This is where I transitioned to a new opportunity to meet the demands of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. As the research opportunities developed to combat the pandemic, Elligo was strategic in placing itself in the niche to promote vaccine and therapeutics research and the likes. 
Not only have I found this institution a great and fun place to work despite all the challenges of a start up organization; it is also an organization that will allow you to hone your skills and make an impact on the industry. They allowed me to retain my position as I moved from state to state as a military spouse and contribute to their overall success. As research opportunities develop, I see this organization flourishing as it cements its brand on the industry. If you are looking for a home to do your best work in research, this is a great place to start and be prepared to put your best self forward and do the best work you possibly can. It is well worth the experience to be able to impact  the industry by expanding research opportunities to patients all over. I predict great things to come from Elligo. You won't have any regrets working with this organization. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Unlimited PTO and monthly all hands meetings.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having too many meetings per day and not being able to focus on my actual work. Elligo is very top heavy with lots of C-suite and directors then regular managers or supervisors. So, having to answer the same question to all of the different people, but to be fair structure is changing. Communication is HORRIBLE overall! Turnover is another horror story! And there is no communication regarding this. One day someone is there and the next day they’re not! You never know if your job is safe and that is stressful!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Silly borderline corny. I get they’re trying to make things fun, but almost seems ridiculous. People sing stupid jingles and everything is called Elli something. Example, Elligreats are monthly recognition for the company favorites that get a monthly bonus. Otherwise, teams pretty much stick to their teams. I still don’t know what other teams do within the company. You just find random people in your meetings and don’t know what their Ellijob is!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work remote. If you have a micromanager then they want meetings first thing in the morning, but I guarantee you, your day will start and end with meetings.

I was with Elligo right at 2 years. I have almost 20 year's experience in my industry. This is small company 200-300 employees. They operate like a start-up. You are expected to wear many hats and pivot from one thing to another all day. They have inconsistent processes, unestablished work flows and do not allow individual contributors much autonomy. This is a formula for unpredictability. If you are someone that thrives with consistency and predictability this is not the place for you.  Generally the individuals throughout the company are good to work with and nice people. Executive leadership is questionable as there is a level of distrust. Layoffs are common in small batches but occur frequently.  It is not the best place I have worked but it is not the worst either. Just know what working for a small company means. There are definitely unique challenges that come along with it. And it is not for people that thrive on stability and have a high regard for organization. 

The company is focused on bringing clinical research to the vast majority of the population that doesn't have access to the innovative drugs and technology that may help them. As a smaller company in the startup/early growth mode, there are continuous improvements to processes and while that may result in fluidity at times, it also means they are quick to change when something isn't working right. The company listens to its employees and is always willing to learn and implement new ideas. Overall the company has a great mission and is striving to make it happen.

Leadership lacks clear direction, and communication between departments often feels inconsistent. There appears to be low trust across teams, high turnover, and frequent organizational changes that can make the work environment stressful. Expectations around remote work, responsibilities, and workplace flexibility were not always aligned with what was communicated during hiring. Employee concerns and feedback are never acknowledged, and overall morale seemed low

C suite management has no idea the terrible management style of HR and other departments are. there is NO communication between departments and when there is, no one wants to speak only out of fear of the terrible workplace culture

Coming into work everyday to a place with so many intelligent, motivated people at the top of their game is hard to find, and I feel so fortunate to work for a company like Elligo. 

Working for a successful start-up is not an easy job but it is so rewarding. Things can get a little hectic at times but the unlimited PTO definitely helps balance that out. Growing pains are typical for any company in this phase but upper-level management is always cognizant of that. 

Every person I have met here is so genuine, sharp and always finds the humor in any situation. I could not be happier!

Elligo is innovative and ever-changing to keep up with new ways to make a positive impact in clinical research.  I am very humbled to work with such great industry talent here.  I changed careers after many years and I'm a better person now knowing Elligo is bringing research where it was lacking in our communities as well as driving down the cost of medications by reducing study timelines. I enjoy the people, the work and am proud to be part of this exciting "family".  

I have enjoyed working at this company, and with the team members, more than any other place I have worked. Everyone I have worked with has been positive and encouraging. They have done everything possible to keep staff employed and supported through the pandemic. They encourage time off and do not micromanage. They expect your best work, which makes you want to do just that. I highly recommend Elligo Health Research if you are looking for a challenging yet positive work environment and great benefits.

Elligo is an at will employer.  I was hired and left within 5 months.  Elligo management does not mediate any complaint and does not support their employees.  After an investigation for licensure protection, there was one baseless accusation made on my performance that results in my dismissal.  Elligo Health Research routinely hires and terminates their staff every month.  I gladly left after witnessing at least 12 employees terminated in the 5 months I worked there. Wait for a more stable company.

A great company, overall, with major leadership issues at the operation level.
I firmly believe that it will become a reference regarding clinical research and hope that they develop a program to ensure that managers are actually ready to fulfill their tasks.
