Many of the teams are running amidst a lean volume which can result in a high volume workload and responsibility. The organization is continually evaluating strategic growth needs amidst specific teams and roles  and listening intently to the voices of existing employees. 

Recently organization implemented “listening circles” which allow employees to hear first hand experiences of colleagues so as an organization we can learn about individual experiences and impacts. 

Pillars of foundation here incorporate values such as collaboration, innovation, personal responsibility and accountability and establishing respectable attainable goals. 

The organization like any isn’t perfect but the organization values people and there is a humane aspect and respectability many other organizations lack! If you have a drive and a passion to work hard, to be a problem solver and willingness to bring solutions this organization will allow you to thrive! 

Leadership neither listens to nor believes the truth about the what is really happening within the culture or operations of the company.  Instead, they prefer their ears be tickled by managers who are driven by self-preservation and personal gain.

Leadership is dumbfounded repeatedly by the discontent expressed on culture surveys.  These experience-based responses are viewed as an aberration, unrepresentative of the culture as a whole despite receiving similar feedback year after year after year.  

Suggestions for improvement are not vetted, but quickly invalidated and discarded if they do not originate from the top.  Its not that leadership doesn't care, they just seem unable to comprehend the incongruency between their own experience and the experience of others.

Some employees hang on because of generous vacation benefits, the comfort of stable wages or personal relationships within the company.  Many, many others have left, though, frustrated by the slow pace of change.

People who have been with the company a long time only are valued and promoted whether they deserve it or not. If you are interesting in moving forward in your career I would not recommend going to this company unless you are going in at a management level that way you have built in credibility walking in the door otherwise they do not value prior outside experience or education. There are many high school educated people in management jobs and people who have only worked at Emergent that have done nothing else in their careers that think they know what they are doing but they don't. Old facilities bad work environment, little room for advancement, a good company if you plan on never moving up or making more money there is very limited growth potential. HR is lazy and arrogant and has delusions of grandeur. There are a lot of nice people there but it is just a small company trying to become big but is stuck in a good old boy management system.

I was in charge of completing testing on animals using the anthrax virus and vaccine. I would clean caging,feed and water animals, complete housekeeping, They had me start revising and authoring SOP's. I was a certified trainer as well and in charge of training staff.I learned that the job possessed a great deal of growth. If you showed desire to learn they offered classes and training. I learned what it takes working in an environment that is highly FDA regulated. My co-workers were great. we worked well as a team and we would all hang out after work/go to lunches together. For the most part i liked management there. They were fair and allowed the employees to do their job. Hardest part of the job was having to test animals. What I enjoyed most was the family atmosphere I had with my coworkers and that I learned a lot there.

I liked ability to work remotely.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No Sense of Direction, No Business vision, Lack of strong Leadership,  No Communications, Uncertainity, No Teamwork, Some executives in Leadership role trying to overplay to build their image and get benefits out of it.  Company closed Multiple sites that were pioneer in Manufacturing Biotech products that could have been used to grow CDMO business. Laid of many hundreds last year.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No Team work, lack of direction, excessive work, everyone hired at senior role but no one to work

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meetings, Meetings, Meetings all day with lots of talk, but no one available for action

During the time I was there the company did several changes to the employees benefits, work schedules and increased responsibilities without notifying staff until after the changes were made and with only 24hr notice of implementation.  This included 50% reduction in yearly bonuses to all but the executives who received a 30% increase in yearly bonuses.  Changing from a 4 day 10hr shift to a 5 day 8hr shift.  Increasing workload for the department I was with by over 45% by adding a new building while remaining on a hire neutral standing.  Coworkers were always helpful, professional and willing to help in training and learning.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
People are more self centered focus on their individual performance and are difficult to work as team, lack of Quality culture, no vision from top management, instability of the job, high turn over rate of employees

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No team environment, No Culture of Quality, more focus on self achievement rather than a common goal or team work, 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
stressful due to lack of resources, lack of basic infra structure, lack of consistency and lack of direction

This is a warm organization that provides the tools and the resources to support its people.  The company has transparent leadership that provides real mindful guidance for the company and that empowers the staff below them.  The company is committed to diversity and inclusion and provides an opportunity for individuals to feel supported and respected. Team members and people within the organization partner with each other in a collaborative style and despite working remotely still bridge the gap to connect with one another.  There are many things to be done but I am confident in our ability to get there.  I really enjoy working for Emergent! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The job is very easy. Also the pay is not that bad it’s ok.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The supervisors are not professional at all. There is a lot of favoritism and they let some people get away with everything and anything. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is your on your own. Department act like they are better then the other department. Shift war’s totally occur thru out the company and communication is nonexistent 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You sit around and get rushed to do things. Then sit around some more and listen to very inappropriate conversations

This place seemed great to work at when I first started. Just about everyone was so nice, the amount of work wasn’t too overwhelming, and the training was great. But then they start to change your hours around and put you in different departments without notice. They’ll change your shift without your consent as well and move you from day to night shift with a moments notice. And if you express that you’re unable to work this shift (whether you have a second job, etc) they will find a reason to terminate you. I’ve been lucky so far that it hasn’t happened to me but I’ve seen it happen to several people already. Just something to keep in mind.
