Encore Village of Schaumburg

So i worked here under both companies, Friendship Village & Encore Village. Now Encore Village is efficient from a business standpoint. But when it comes to Cutting Departments, and Cutting Pay And differentials , not so good. I've worked Security both times, and there is only one security for the whole Facility. So if there is an emergency, or situation. It is just one person responding to the incident, which is not the most effective and safe way to go about things. Majority of emergencies require a second person, for a Two Man Lift. Or, just back up so you're not alone in situations. They cut the PM and overnight Differentials as well, which adds up to be a lot of money for full time at a year. Scary to know that you are just a number on a spreadsheet. Management and Coworkers are friendly and nice. But, They expect one person to do the job of three people. We are overworked, and need support and attempts have been made to get more staff, but has been denied each time. Sad i love all the residents here and they are all so nice, i just wish the upper management and executives could understand the struggles of one staff member doing a job that should have atleast one more person for support. But, it seems all they care about is money, and not the wellbeing of staff. Also, Encore should understand that not paying their employees well and cutting Holiday pay and differentials, will only hurt them in the long run. 

I believe the Encore Village Team is motivated, (I know I am), due to the positive influence coming from the top! I feel inspired by them and want to excel in my position.  They are so supportive of their employees. Encore Village has consideration for all team members, which boosts all morale. We are a very professional group, with so much heart and did I mention also fun?
My day at work is never typical so to speak, we are all here to provide the best care to our patients. My position requires me to be out in the field, engaging with the hospitals, patients and staff of the entire Chicagoland area, meeting potential new clients, introducing them to Encore Village and ultimately being honored to get them here to be cared for by a premier skilled nursing facility. Our patient outcomes of success are stellar.  I always say I like to win and being a part of Encore - I did! 

This company is an exceptional place where everyone, from top to bottom, genuinely cares about each other and our residents as we work together seamlessly. The culture here is one of support, collaboration, and mutual respect, creating an environment where you feel valued and motivated every day.
The leadership is exceptional. The management team truly listens to associates, is transparent in communication, and actively seeks feedback for continuous improvement. They understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexible schedules, and professional development opportunities, making it clear that employee wellbeing is a top priority. The staff is incredible, from entry-level team members to executives. Everyone is approachable, friendly, and always ready to lend a hand.

To give my honest review it was one of the hardest most rewarding places I have ever worked at. The people you encounter everyday are elderly and can be difficult to handle at times. You will meet many people who will pass away during your employment and some people cant handle that. however that being said these people become apart of your family. You get to hear about history, love, hardships and you develop relationships with people that you never could have met otherwise. The co-workers you experience and meet are some of the nicest in the world. everyone is energetic and usually have great attitudes. usually. the benefits there are definitely a plus. The compensation is fair for the work you do.

8 and 10 residents daily. I would set up some of the residents medications for them weekly, some residents were required to have weekly assessments. When seeing the residents their orientation level was assessed as well as any physical changes.

If a member fell or injured them self in some way, home health would be called to assess them, call the family and the doctor. First aide would be administered and emergency services would be called if necessary. 

I enjoyed interacting with the residents and it was difficult to see them decline.

Friendship Village or "Encore Village" is a shell of its former self. Now being run by a shady investment company that puts profits far and above anything else to such a degree that wall street should take notes. If you have any type of skill to offer a company, please go elsewhere. Are you a nurse or cna? try a hospital instead. The insurance is bad, and they don't match 401k contributions. Encore is there to make money and nothing more. If you want to be looked at as an unfortunate business expense on a spreadsheet and constantly be worried about job cuts this is the place for you! If you have relatives looking to move there, please tell them not too.

I would help with lunch. Feed the senior citizens that couldn't feed themselves. I would take care of them while they watched t.v until activities would start. ( Senior citizens with dementia) Take them to a room where all activities were held. We would demonstrate food demos and give them samples, play music, exercise in the mornings, puzzles, spa for the ladies and enjoying the nice weather. 

It was an eye opening experience for me and it motivated me to want to take care of them all the time. Noticing that some of the citizens families would not even visit. It was super fun and just by helping someone that doesn't have anyone left and being there for that person makes that job more enjoyable.

Friendship Village is a 'home' to over 650 people. Working here, I feel a special part of their family. The residents are kind and love the staff, as long as your are kind and love the residents. 
The culture in our department has very good work life balance, allowing hourly workers to leave early after a 40 hour work week. Salaried workers are also encouraged to leave on time or take comp hours to have balance with work and home. 
Management is upfront and honest. 
The best part of my job - the residents and our team planning events. The hardest part of my job - being kind on days where there are tons of interruptions. 

I have been here for almost 5 years and cannot see myself working anywhere else. Lending support and guidance, everyone makes it easy to work here, from the Housekeepers to the CEO.  They are not only concerned about the health and well-being of the resident's but also that of their associates, especially during this pandemic.  All areas work together and strive to improve processes and outcomes.  As stated in their name and their motto "Life is better among Friends", you feel the friendship at Friendship Village.   I enjoy coming to work every day and working with great people.”
