My personal experience with Epic has been less than desirable to say the least, along with a heart wrenching experience. No matter how many hours you work, which was at least 12 hours a day and they wanted more from you and with no gratitude for the job you do. They told me you have to do what it takes and sometimes you might have to stay till 10pm or midnight to get the case filled. Well in my eyes that is not a work, life satisfaction environment. I have a family and a daughter, that I never got to see because of long hours leading to working till 7pm or later. They take advantage of you, talked down to you in all possible ways, which you would think coming from management they would mentor, or give you advice. Now that would be a good manager in my eyes coming from upper management. 

My day consist of answering and taking about 100-160 calls a day while scheduling nurses and home health aides along with doing payroll, and recruiting for the company. I even had to do the other office payroll because the other office always had issues, from not generating the right time format or just forgot to add the time in the system, it was a mess. I learned that I had to do things on my own due to no help from other offices. No training was address to the position, they just put you at a desk and say there you go, if you have any questions you may ask them. Coming from a corporate environment I have always had a week or two of training on how the company wants things done. Well not with this one, it was a complete mess. I had employees call me wanting to know if they had benefits, and I would reach out to corporate and receive no answer. Left employees out to dry. Mean while the insurance was ridiculous which for me was like $320 dollars coming out of my check each check so well over $600 dollars a month I had to pay for insurance. That was nuts. Hardest part of my Job was cleaning up the previous mess from the company work that we took over and taken the heat for what wasn't done correctly through the new company Epic.

They pay nurses very low wages compared to what they actually do out in the field so do not expect to make more than $17-18 dollars an hr. They pay home health aide at $8-9 dollars an hour which is just curl on all parts. It is all number company and he hardest thing was to try to hit your numbers but when you are totally under staff and have no other resources to use because your nurses are already working 40 hours or have a case that they are doing. It can be very tough.

I know from all the hard work I did to fill these family needs with a good nurse and took away 40 hours of overtime away from a case, especially from the upper management department I was never, never, I mean never, recognized for the work I have did and the fact of bringing money to the company. Just a very disgusting taste left in my mouth from a so called company that said they care about their people and family comes first. Well I can tell you that is the biggest lie I have ever heard from working in an environment like this. That is Corporate America for you all!

"They wanted the case staffed, so now at least there's a warm body in the home." --Quote from a employee of many years. This seems to be the mindset of many Nurses To Go/Epic employees, some of the people they hire to take care of the special needs children and elderly clients that they service is absolutely disgusting. This company only cares about revenue, they could care less about the quality of care provided. They want to pay hard working aides and nurses the minimal amount while expecting them to work long hours, with no compensation for the many miles they travel to and from their clients homes and to the office to turn in paperwork and pick up supplies required for patient care. A common complaint from long time employees was that they've been promised a raise for over 8 years and have yet to see a penny. The reason that employees and clients stay with the company is the bond they have developed with one another. Unfortunately they are bound by the clause that has been carefully placed on the employee time sheet that both parties sign each week, threatening if they leave the company they will have to pay thousands of dollars for taking the company's employee/client to another agency. When the good employees do decide to move onto a job where they are respected and appreciated, they are many times replaced with one of those "warm bodies", so the clients are ultimately the ones who suffer. Management has no disregard for employee's personal lives and completely ignore requests/concerns  from the employees, whether it be regarding patient or employee safety, employee workload or benefits/pay. If you're looking for a job with poor compensation and no raises, no paid time off, unprofessional office staff, lots of traveling in your personal vehicle without reimbursement and a company who doesn't drug test and hires nurses with criminal records because they've been given a "waiver" then this is the job for you.

Horrible, rude, and unorganized management and recruiters. Staff doesn't know details of assignments and send you to homes expecting one thing, but getting another. Recruiters will lie about patient condition just to staff the home. Have been asked to come in for "corrections" by staff which was them wanting me to add things I did not do or witness during my shift in order for them to be paid out by insurance. Very poor communication skills. Give you an extremely low "base pay" and tell you not to worry because they will pay more for "higher acuity" then deny ever offering more when it comes down to it. From the top in the office all the way down to the recruiters, they will lie to save themselves from their mistakes. Example: a recruiter telling you to be at a shift and denying it because they didn't get their Medicaid paperwork done and updated in time then refusing to pay for your time. (Won't take up your note and file it when this happens. Keep in mind it is illegal to not keep documentation of nurses in the home administering medications/treatments). This company does not care at all about the nurses, only how much they can pocket. Will send a nurse into a home without proper training (no vent/trach experience into a vent dependent home). Never have up to date orders in homes. Frequently send other nurses into homes behind your back (days/shifts you aren't scheduled) to train for then take your position and don't bother to give you notice so you can start looking for another case. You will go from full time to no patient/work in an instant without warning. No patient = no pay. Even after offering work, will cancel if they find another nurse willing to work for less pay. Commonly make unethical requests of nurses. Stay away from Epic if you care about your license!

I applied to this job as an RN; was offered $25 but talked them up to $27. First let me say the staff at the Houston office were nice. We went over what cases I was interested in, but they were constantly placing me with patients I could not take due to my size or other reasons. I felt like they were placing me with cases they wanted filled and that my desires were not being met. So after 3 weeks of " We'll call you to set you up with a case". They finally gave me a case without giving me a POC prior to the shift so I walked in blind. All this on the day the pt had a doctor's appointment. I was left alone with the pt and was 1 hr late with giving a med trying to find my footing with a pt I knew nothing about, and the mom called Epic complaining. Now, I do take responsibility for that but the way management came to me made me feel like I was being penalized. I felt like they wanted to address my issue and save face but ignore the fact that I went in blind, with no training with a kiddo with this issue, then the mom leaves me alone. So I decided to break ties with the company and emailed a scheduler to remove me from the email list because I was not going to take cases with Epic any longer, but I still kept getting emails. I found a better home health company and moved on. Recently, I got an email from Epic stating that I was terminated for not completing compliance training for a company I did not work for. I felt like the staff doesn't follow through with their word as far as assigning cases and actually returning phone calls. I wouldn't waste time with this company. I was out of work for 3 weeks b/c of them but I'm doing great with my new company so I'm glad this happened and another door was opened

I have been an employee since 2012. I am a Lpn at Bala cynwd office For starters I love what I do.  However this company has gone down hill tremendously. I can't put the blame on everybody but SOME of the schedulers that work there are so unorganized and all over the place. In addition, I do everything I'm suppose to do (fill out my paperwork correctly, turn my time sheets in on time) but yet It was 4 times in the last 5 months that I haven't received my pay. I have direct deposit set up. And those 4 times it wasn't in there. I got a bunch of sorry and it won't happen again. It actually happened today and I'm waiting for someone to contact me back. It's not my bank it's someone not doing their job over there. I find it funny it always happens when I can't do a shift they really need filled (how ironic). In addition I have been trying to get in contact with corporate for weeks about my health insurance since I went full time months ago. No one in HR has called me back yet, the office has no control over that so I understand why I have to call corporate. You don't even talk to anyone it's always a message system saying they are not there and just leave a message I think it's so unprofessional and rude to treat your employees bad I have left about 6 messages (honestly).  Epic would be a wonderful place to work because the families & patients are always nice to me. And I think the nurse supervisors are so sweet and helpful. And they pay isn't bad. They need to treat their employees way better and actually get a REAL corporate/hr office in Philadelphia not Texas. A office where one can come in an actually speak to someone in HR.

I initially started with this company when their name was Option 1. Working with them was good, management actually cared about you as an employee. The CEO would walk around and say hi and walk the office. When this company got bought out and changed its name to Epic it was all down hill from there.Higher up people were fired just before Christmas, people being replaced, let go or just quitting all together.  Epic is a huge company based out of Texas and buying up the market like it was free with investors and other interested parties involved. You become a number and are easily replaceable. The turn over rate is something like 30% as I have friends that still work there. I remember one day in one week they lost over 4 people, with many having notice put in. The work load is heavy and the pay is not enough for that work load. Work load is heavy because they cannot keep anyone there for more than a couple of months. The direction of this company is very uncertain in my opinion as corporate is out of Texas and no one from there is based in the Chandler office. You see them once in a while when they decide to come and see the office or if there are issues. Some of the management that they have in charge of this office have no business being in the positions that they are and employees have no respect for them as they do not care about you as an employee. I would really think twice about working here, I feel as if the 2 years that I was there were wasted on stress, no advancement opportunities and just over all being unhappy with management not listening to your opinions or suggestions or just caring in general.

Terrible place to work!!!! Seriously STAY AWAY!!!!! They are a manipulative and money grabbing company. I have worked as a field nurse, nurse supervisor, and nurse Director for Epic Health Services. I feel so used and unappreciated!!!! They put nurses and patient’s in danger to earn a profit. They extremely overwork and underpay there office staff and field nurses. They have unreasonable expectations and are not appreciated when you work 60 hours a week for a 40 hour a week salary. In the office, your expected to work weekends and be on call for no extra pay. This is why there is so much turnover in the offices. I calculated the time/ money earned as the Nursing Director and I was actually making less as the Nursing Director then as a field nurse. They will not give any field nurse a raise unless they beg for it and even then it will be a small raise. We had some nurses working 10 years without a raise. The salary system is totally unfair. Some nurse with 3 years experience would get paid more then a nurse with 20 years experience. Education also makes no diffrence. Make sure you ask for a high salary when you get hired. However, they will give more shifts to the least expensive nurses because they can make more profit even if they do not have the skills or experience to work with a patient. As a field nurse they will only give gas milage if the patient is over 60 miles away but never hourly pay and even then expect to argue with the office for it. I could go on and on. Just take my word for someone who has worked in multiple levels at Epic that it is a bad place to work.

Overall Epic is a great starting point for any individual looking to get their foot in the door of corporate America. You get a glimpse into office life. It sells you the same pitch any other corporate job does. The team is quite helpful given you are open to warming, if you are arrogant and sure of yourself don't expect too much. The management can vary from day to day based on how numbers are looking. It's a rapidly growing company, they seem to acquire more quickly than they can actually adapt. The issues trickle down to those who work the billing primarily. They state team work all day and for the most part that is true, amongst your primary team, but in all honestly, it can be a very immature environment and work conditions simmer more often than not. Those who work at the branch level can be cooperative, but more often then not they will blame any and all issues on the corporate team instead taking responsibility. It's degree level high school. What you'd expect from  viewing any TV sitcom. Work and keep your head down, find a few you can trust, become proficient at a few things and you should do fine. It's great place to start for all, but only a place to remain for some. I have other aspirations and the constant back and forth with branch operations disappointed me. The upside is, all the negative I experienced kept me motivated to remain focused on what I truly desire.

Would NOT recommend Epic!! They recently informed everybody they are FREEZING ALL RAISES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! This was implemented on nurses week too! Epic has no incentives for extra shifts,shift differential,or mileage. You literally have to do insane things like drive over 45 miles to work a shift and maybe get 30 cents mileage. Epic is all about making the business money NOBODY looks out for the nurses. The director is a business manager what does that tell you?? I've never worked for a home health agency where the director is NOT an actual nurse?!  Their insurance is crummy! Every one in this office but HR is NEW. The turn over in the office is insane, every time I call in the office it's a new name answering phones. Epic has no money for our annual 25 cent raise that is not ever a guarantee! But they certainly have no problem asking us nurses to refer other nurses to work here?? WHY WOULD WE REFER OTHERS WHEN THIS COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO PAY THE LOYAL NURSES THEY ALREADY HAVE??! Oh and Epics idea of an incentive is having occasional RAFFELS for sports tickets to a Colts game or a tv! No thanks! I'd rather have things I NEED like MONEY AND PTO or BONUSES!! If you want to be paid peanuts and maybe lucky to get the hours you need to pay your bills every week then apply here. But I would not make EPIC your only job. I believe Epic will be the WalMart of home health care, watch.

Depending on your job title, your typical day at work will vary.  You will probably have to travel far to see your patient or patients, and no you will not get reimbursed for your mileage.  If you love long road trips with the luxury of wearing down your personal vehicle, this job is for you.  I learned that at this company you are not valued. You are a number, and not a human being. The main focus of this company is $$$. If you are compassionate and have a heart, listen to this warning.... RUN. Management is a joke, as I said they care about money, not the well being of their patients or employees. Co-workers were fine, minus the endless drama and bullying amongst one another. If you want to feel unappreciated and harassed then you've hit the jackpot with Nurses To Go (EPIC)- Check out Epic's reviews too, there right on point.  The hardest part of the job was dealing with patients and their families with no backup from your employers. If you want to be challenged, you will be. As a new nurse they will throw you into situations you are not comfortable in, for example a new nurse being thrown into a trach/vent situation with little to no training (sounds safe, right?)  The next point brings us to the most enjoyable part of the job. If you have a heart beat you will be hired. Pretty cool if your looking for a blow off job, because that's the mindset of 90% of nurses to go employees.
