Equum Medical

Equum Medical is not the worst company I have worked for, but it is far from the best. One of the biggest concerns is the extremely high turnover rate, which is higher than any workplace I have personally experienced. This creates challenges with consistency, staffing, and overall team morale. There also appears to be a significant amount of favoritism within management. Certain employees seem to receive preferential treatment regarding scheduling and workplace expectations, while others are held to different standards.

Another concern is the level of sanitation and cleanliness, which does not always meet the standards I would expect in a healthcare environment. Professionalism can also be lacking at times, with inappropriate workplace conversations occurring within earshot of patients and families.

Many of the employees who consistently step up, cover shifts, assist coworkers, and help keep operations running smoothly often receive little recognition or support. Instead, these employees frequently become overworked and burned out, which likely contributes to the company’s high turnover rate. Additionally, there are limited opportunities for advancement and professional growth within the organization. Employees looking to build a long-term career may find few options for internal development.

While the company does provide employment opportunities and valuable experience, improvements in leadership consistency, employee recognition, workplace professionalism, sanitation practices, and career development would greatly improve the overall work environment.

The job is simple but a lot of responsibilities for minimum pay, you only get raises once a year. I’ve learned to not work at a job that does not care about there employees,  about getting them paid the correct hours they work, and getting them there checks when they are supposed to receive them. The workplace environment can be very hostile, chaotic and unprofessional. People are late relieving people which causes chaos and other people to retaliate by not coming in on time, or arguing with one another. Attendance policy is not reenforced. They have a lot of favorites. You have unprofessional teammates who are rude. The hardest part of the job is having to go behind payroll and make sure your money is correct, having to adjust to added on task from before you were trained with no extra compensation, and Having new rules being told to you that aren’t in there policy. The most enjoyable thing about this job is being around other teammates who can relate to pay issues, management issues, and not feeling as if anybody over Equum actually cares. Let me add you have nothing and can do nothing to occupy yourself other than using fidget spinners and pop it toys. Which leaves room for women just to talk!, and Be messy! I’m so glad I left this place and hope one day they care more about there employees who keep the patients safe rather than just the hospitals, and patients that they care so much about.

I’ve had the opportunity to be part of Equum Medical for several years, and what has always stood out to me is the company’s clear sense of purpose. Equum is focused on expanding access to high-quality care, especially for hospitals and communities that need reliable clinical support the most.

What makes Equum different is the people. The teams here are deeply committed, clinically grounded, and willing to roll up their sleeves to solve real problems for hospitals, nurses, physicians, and patients. There is a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, and mission-driven work.

Like any growing healthcare company, the pace can be fast, and the work can be demanding. But that is also what makes it meaningful. You can see the impact of the work in the hospitals we support and in the patients who are able to receive care closer to home.

The hardest part is keeping up with the fast-paced environment, but this challenge also makes the work exhilarating. The most enjoyable part is seeing the direct impact of our efforts on the company's growth and success, knowing we're building something big and impactful together. Equum is where smart, driven people come to make a real difference.

My time at this company had been marked with unkept promises, lack of support, overworking staff without appreciation and an extremely toxic culture. Promises have consistently gone unfulfilled since they opened the Brentwood location in January 2023. The work conditions are strenuous.  There is constant, negative communication from management about employees to their colleagues. The company is constantly changing policies and procedures, creating challenges and an unhealthy work-life balance. Employees were asked by management to leave a 5 star review of the company because of the negative impact the 1 star reviews had on their rating. I resigned from the company and was not properly paid out, which has been a reoccurring issue among other employees who also left the company.

I’ve only been with Equum a short time but it’s already clear the team cares about the mission and each other. Leadership is approachable, ideas are welcomed, and there’s real energy around the work we’re doing. As a remote employee, I’ve felt supported and included. Like any growing company, a few processes are still evolving, but that comes with the territory. If you're comfortable being proactive and figuring things out, there's a lot of opportunity here.

The job itself is easy but they are so understaffed that you are lucky if you get a bathroom break in a 12 hr shift. You have to raise your hand to go to the restroom like a child so someone can cover for you. Terrible work culture and terrible benefits. Promises of career advancement but there’s no opportunity. Everything is unorganized. If you need to ask an HR question it takes forever to get an answer and then the answer changes a few days later so there is no stability. Office morale is extremely low because employees don’t feel cared for. The paychecks are always slightly off so you always have to calculate your pay and hours to make sure you get paid properly. 

Working with Equum Medical  has been a highly rewarding experience as a Physician. Equum Medical delivers high-quality, multi-specialty medical care across regions spanning multiple states, with a strong focus on reaching underserved, remote areas where it’s needed most. The organization is technologically advanced and driven by a supportive, smart leadership team. Shifts and schedules are well-balanced, contributing to a positive work-life balance. My colleagues are great to work with, fostering a collaborative and collegial environment. The work is both exciting and deeply fulfilling, and I predict a great future and continued growth with this company. I’m proud to be part of such an impactful team!

Come In get report sit at computer do Huddles and watch the patient virtually as you would in person . The only difference is you now have to alert the staff of what is going on vs you being able to help them yourself . I honestly feel like this job is helping me to develop more patience . Management is excellent they respond back fast and try to help you as much as they can . The hardest part about the job is sitting for 12 hours looking at a computer screen. You have to stay awake and alert . The most enjoyable part of my job is getting this new experience as I am moving forward in my nursing career .

I don't think a lazy or indifferent person could do this job. During a shift, there is often time to get up and take a break. However, when the patients need you, they really need you, and the best match is someone who can adjust to a widely variable pace.  Also, we always have to learn and adjust because the company keeps growing. I personally enjoy the challenge, and I'm proud that through telemedicine, I can help people who aren't even in the same state as I am.

My favorite part of this job is working with my colleagues. I think they are some of the best people I've ever worked with in my life, and I'd hang out with them even after the shift ends.
