I worked at Eagle Health and Rehabilitation in Statesboro, Georgia as a Dietary Aide.  A typical day at work for me was clocking in at 1pm, head straight to the dish pit to help morning shift with their lunch dishes and cleaning up the dining room.  We were usually done around 2:30pm.  At 3pm It was my responsibility to roll the snack cart around to all the residents and let them choose a snack.  As you can see that only left me 30 minutes to prepare all the snacks, which usually consisted of a big tray of sandwiches, a tray of fresh baked cookies, fresh fruit, yogurt or pudding, chips, variety of snack cakes, 2 varieties of punch, and soft drinks.  As I headed out with my cart I had to rush myself and the residents desicion making, which I thought was so not right, for they are the ones paying your salary in the first place.  I had to be back in the kitchen just as quick as I could, which was usually around 3:45pm. That left me a total of 1hour and 15minutes to make my first and second choice deserts, wrap them, make usually around 80 glasses of tea and 80 glasses of water and wrap them and have everything else ready to go on the dinner carts by 5pm.  After the dinner carts were out, usually by 6pm or a little after I would prepare another snack cart that went around at 8pm.  I would then break down all the dinner carts, wash all the residents dinner dishes and put them up, roll all silverware, wipe down and clean dishwasher and sink, wipe down walls, take out trash, and do 2nd snack run and clock out by 9pm.  You also have to clock out for a 30minute lunch break that you don't even get to take.  If you don't finish all your work you get wrote up, If you stay past 9pm you get wrote up.  If the carts don't go out on time you get wrote up.  The manager talks to you like you are a dog.  She yells and screams at you in front of everybody.  She made me cry at least 2 or 3 times a week because she made me feel worthless, like I was not good for anything.  Everyday when I went to work I had to give myself the Pep talk and tell myself that I was a good person and that it was the job that was not right, not me, but last week she finally crushed me and I quit.  I could no longer take her cruel and mean tongue thrashes at me.  I am 53 years old and in all my life I have never had anyone to be so hateful and mean to me as she was.  I could enter the kitchen and speak good morning, Miss ------, she wouldn't even speak back, she would just act like I didn't exist.  No one should have to go through this harassment and torture at their job, it can really tear a person apart.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at Eagle are the residents. And to be very compassionate and humble in there home has been really pleasing. Now the Cons: If you don't like attitude and people constantly gossiping about you 24hrs a day, this is not a perfessional setting. If you can deal with daily rasicm very visible in your face this is not the establishment for you. If they really took their time and did 95% less gossiping,  this facility has very promising and potential caregivers with the greatest attitude.  The vibe in the atmosphere is always sketchy.  You can tell a fake smile from a real smile and fake chats...Do not, I react, do not tell anyone your personal business.  You will be subjected as the talk of the building... Some Staff members are really awesome. And well some others are the complete opposite.  Hope this summed up everything in a short Summary..Good Luck! And God Speed.

Most stressful part is trying to do your job to its full potential.  And work in a toxic environment filled with gossip on a very daily basis.

Very Separated and diverse, and you can see it right in front of you.

my day begins late night because I work third shift. We go in clean our carts that we use and stock up our equipment cart. there are call lights to be pushed if a resident needs help with something they cannot get to and need help with, we answer the light and complete the task that needs to be done. we go around at certain times which are provided to us to make sure the resident is clean and dry. In the mornings we have a certain number of residents we have to get up and have dressed before our shift ends so they can be ready to start their day. the management there is great and we all learn to work as a team and how to communicate with one another including the residents. the co-workers i work with are amazing, i personally could not ask for a better team to work with. there really isn't a hard part of the job but if i must say i would say having to remember how to use correct posture so you will not injury yourself or others. the most enjoyable part of my job is knowing that i am able to help assist others and knowing that i am able to help those who need help and cannot do for themselves. i just like feeling like i went in with a goal and i love leaving knowing that i accomplished my goal and more.

Working with a group of women and very few men makes for a day of moaning and griping but the joy of the interaction with the elderly make up for the trouble shooting of the moans and grips. The continued learning experineces related to the admission's medical past and present history peaks my interest daily. The most amusing thing is when a resident tell you that you are fat when you have been attempting to lose weight for two months. It definitely will make you smile because the resident is so brutily honest. The laughter of what the resident say and do helps with the unbelieveable problems that occurs with the associates and their families. Keeping a building in compliance for regulatory purposes can be some what stressful when solving all types problems for residents, assoiciates and family. But I have been in long term care for greater than 20 years undoubtable I must have enjoyed these past years in every aspect.

The only and most frustrating thing about Archway was their concept of the number of staff needed to adequately clean a facility of its size. Archway has the potential to house 100 residents with a census requirement of 92 as budgeted however, the practice was/is no housekeeping staff after 3:30 pm which in turn meant absolutely no cleaning of the facility's restrooms, common areas, residents tv rooms and hallways. Therefore for 16 and a half hours no cleaning was done. Things that went untouched such as feces and urine left all night long on floors, walls whatever would make it extremely harder on my crew the next morning. Of course the cna's were required to clean up these types of mishaps but often wouldn't citing pay and that it wasn't their jobs to clean up the residents and perform hsk duties as well. I should mention Archway is a behavioral mentally ill healthcare facility which did not help the situation as it were. Most healthcare facilities have seen the need of round the clock hsk contrary to Archways beliefs on the matter.

I was incredibly enthusiastic about becoming an employee with Taylor County Health and Rehabilitation, and made every attempt to maintain the same level of excitement regarding the position I was granted. However, after my training (which consisted of a brief, twenty minute walk through of the kitchen), I was placed in a position to work that I was not hired to fill, nor was I given proper training to prepare me for the responsibilities of that position. The staff claim to have a familial relationship with one another, yet they continuously gossip and slander one another. The environment in the department I am employed by, has proven to be incredibly toxic and terribly mismanaged. Management expects employees to continue working off of the clock, or work through their breaks, especially if anything is incomplete or running behind.

They expect a lot from you. If you forget to document something, they will hang a paper in the clock in room with your name on it and highlight what you forgot to do. Instead of management offering to help, they add more work to you. Almost can never get out of there on time. A 12 hour shift turned into 13-15 hour shift. They will try to get you to stay over even if you have to work the next day. They ask you to work your days off. They will let you work, work, work. Your days off are spent trying to recuperate from all the working you did. Some of the nurses are great and will help if they have time. Getting your vitals from some of the CNAs was awful. I was working through a staffing agency as a CNA and was almost making just as much as a nurse through Ethica. I even thought about going back to work as a CNA so I wouldn't have all the stress to deal with it. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the Regional and Corporate Consultants are fantastic to work with.  They are caring and helpful.  Some will go out of their way to help you be successful.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When having difficulty in a facility do not take the time to listen to the Administrator side of the situation.  Just lets the staff make the rules

At the beginning I thought it was great. I loved the company and wanted to stay.  The philosophy was one of caring.  A year later there was a reorganization and the company changed to how much money did you make?

In the beginning it was a team work getting things done together. Making things happen by working together.  At the end the management staff didn’t work as a staff even trying to get me fired

I worked for this company for more than 10 years. This company used to be great to work for. All of their corporate people changed several years ago and it became an awful place to work for. Steadily down hill and worse every year. All about the mighty dollar now. For them. Not the regular working employees or their residents. They also let incompetent and unprofessional management run their facilities and either ignore how awful the management is or are just as terrible. If money is your biggest motivator then this company does compensate pretty well compared to most other companies offering the same services. Otherwise, it is a miserable place to work for. Hostile work environment, no appreciation for staff. Overworked and no regard or concern for employees. I would not recommend working for this company. 

I enjoyed my coworkers for the most part and enjoyed cooking, but I did not enjoy the constant stress of the environment within the hospital. The kitchen itself was fast paced and a little chaotic on its own, but being constantly understaffed left the shift supervisors stretched too thin. On top of the lack of employees, we never received support from the management, whether from kitchen management or hospital. The pay was decent but not worth the odd work hours, never knowing exactly what time you would get off work, and being constantly called in on your off days or early for a shift. The advancement options are slim to none. As far as kitchen staff, the highest you can go is cook unless you become a manager. Overall, the job opportunity was a good choice for me at the time, but I wouldn’t go back unless I knew they would be fully staffed.
