People are always concerned about losing their job and resort to desperate tactics like taking ownership of other people's work or taking on way too much work to prove value -especially when roles are vacant and not backfilled leading to a work culture where people are afraid to say "no" to doing the work of 3 people. You teach and educate yourself when "onboarded". People are not promoted -even after 10 years. You have to wait until someone leaves their role or know somebody. Some managers don't manage and blow-up when people are overwhelmed with work and a deadline or target is not met while promoting a work culture where everyone must be overwhelmed to keep their job in fear of being let go during the recurring leadership reorganizations. More attention is made to the 1 mistake you made vs numerous achievements . Major achievements rated as "meets expectations" in your review so they don't have to promote you. Other managers micromanage wrecking your nerves. Dozens of cross-functional projects going on so dozens of simultaneous projects that nobody knows about that all need #1 priority. Invites to important department events or meetings is by word of mouth. Play the ball/not the position type of culture where people can creep on your work responsibilities and take ownership of it if it looks fun and easy. Communication is mid. If you like being overworked and nervous and approach your day from a scarcity mind-set maybe this is the place to be.



•	Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and field/answer all routine and non-routine questions.
•	Prepare, coordinate and organize meeting and training as required to include room reservations, notification to members, and distribution of meeting materials and minutes.
•	Register employers training in COMPLIANCE system.
•	Serve as office manager to include responsibility for office supplies, secure maintenance of office equipment, establish and maintain filing system, sort and direct email, and maintain an accurate calendar.
•	Prepare and edit documents to meet the established processes in plant. (MSDS, CMM’S ELECTRICALS PANELS & REFRIGERANT) 
•	Create and close preventive maintenance and events in MAXIMO, CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT PORTAL & CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT PORTAL BOP/6S.
•	Perform metrics for evaluating the technician’s documentation in MAXIMO system.
•	Perform the document retention from the PM’S of Facilities and Utilities Department (IRON MOUNTAIN) 
•	Submit monthly data of Ethicon Water Consumption.
•	Give support to the Utilities Technician to create work order to the iReliability system.
•	Assist facilities and utilities supervisor with Pest Control, Housekeeping, BOP Audits, Utilities documentation and other department’s records matters.      
•	Request quotes and place facilities purchase orders in ARIBA system.
•	Providing high quality customer service using professionalism, confidentiality and good judgment is required.
•	Assist in the preparation of the department activities as shut down arrangements.
•	Perform work task and operations in compliance with all EHS rules and regulations, and encourage coworkers to do so.

Training on the job in the beginning was a hit or miss! Trainers are push in to making production so training was spars and not completed! Then they have company wide training assignments, where everyone gets the same training requirement, weather it applies to your job or not, including office/ management materials! No class training, online only. This is call being a lazy company trainer, just give out everything to everyone, even if it doesn't apply to their job functions! Working hours are 8hrs or 12hr shifts, working condition is climate control. If you meet production, its laid back, but you are require to work one day extra (mandatory). If you don't work extra, certain Facilitator (needle department) will use up your vacation time without your consent and no notice to employee! So with incomplete training, you will struggle in the beginning on your own! Then there's bonus each year, but certain Facilitator with will insert deduction on your pay checks for no-reason, and take that bonus pay back and then some! When you confront this certain Facilitator, they play the waiting game and just ignore your contacts about missing pay hours and overtime! When you contact Payroll and HR, all they do is tell you to contact your facilitator! They are pretty much useless for help! Plus there are no on-site payroll and HR department, so Facilitator take advantage of employees often! They are only nice to you if they need something from  you. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
These days - the best that can be said of ETHICON is that it is part of J&J and a good entry point into a future with the larger company.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Ethicon is currently a shell of its former self.  Most of the important leadership roles have been relegated to remote positions filled at J&J in New Jersey.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unfortunately, the old culture of transforming patient care through innovation has been replaced with endless on-line meetings to assess the status of meaningless projects -often controlled by inexperienced “Managers” who have never brought a new product to market or managed a successful product in the field.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical day is arrival and preparation for an 8:00 call that might be  two hours in length.  The call may include the review of 35 to 40 action items and might touch upon only three that your input, and just 10 that require you have awareness and line-of-sight to what is being said.  When the call ends you will take time to debrief with your co-located co-workers and draft some meaningful actions items and strategies for progress.  Then there will be lunch and during the afternoons you will get some work done.

The Management or lack thereof

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very stressful, encourages overworking, is understaffed and for many contractors underpaid

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would get there at 8 and leave at about 5:30pm. I worked through lunch most of the time, and would take my paid 15 minute break to go for a walk (I had two of these in an 8 hour shift but sometimes wouldn't be able to use both of them, and walking around to destress took priority over enjoying my lunch break). However, on some days, I would be unable to do any work, but also unable to use my time meaningfully for training or preparation, because I was told to focus on the current task, which would be stalled by the chain of people needed to complete it, who were normally working on something else due to understaffing. Oftentimes, I would have to sit at my desk or in the lab and pretend to do work because there was tremendous pressure from management to perform but also direct instructions from management to not work on anything else than the thing that could not be completed until someone else finished their task. In fact, on a few occasions I was directly told to pretend to do work.

As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, my day started early as the team prepared animals for surgical procedures. The quality of care for the animals was good. The company was diligent with standard operating procedures, which maintained the standard of care and efficiency of a surgery. Management, however, seemed to fluctuate frequently and the company had 4 major reorganizations the 3 years I worked in PreClinical, which left the employees confused, insecure, and anxious. After obtaining the Labeling Analyst position, my day started at 8 and I worked behind a desk most of the day developing labeling content for new products. The atmosphere was relaxed and supportive. Work was getting done and discoveries were happening daily. Management, however, redirected projects with little transparency, leaving workers confused and disgruntled.  Overall, the most significant aspect of my experience with Ethicon is that the company's habit of redirecting projects and reorganizing teams is volatile and does more harm than good when their employees are stressed out about keeping their jobs or wondering if what they're working on is even relevant. What I enjoyed most about working for Ethicon was innovation and exposure to groundbreaking technologies.

Simple but exacting duties with a high attention to detail. Fantastic pay and  benefits, on-site medical services, cafeteria, gym, running/walking tracks and circuits, rewards and recognition. But you're expected to adapt quickly and if they feel you haven't progressed as far as you should have in a certain amount of time, then you never will be good enough and you will be dismissed, (paraphrased from what my manager stated when she called to tell me I was no longer employed there). There had been no mention whatsoever that I had been underperforming so I had sprung to get myself a car and the day it arrived I was let go. Now there's a car note and your income just disappeared. Can't take the car back because you need it to reach your new job which is 50 miles out of town.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Ethical? The care they offer to the employees, with mandatory exercises to prevent carpal tunnel problems. 
It also offers a very good working environment, professional and with good training. The vast majority of employees are happy working there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
None really, the normal stress of getting a lot of work on time. But this is typical of every major, serious company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone seemed content working there except for the people who always seem to complain about any type of work at most any company. Employees were respectful while at the same time being frundky. And , very important, women were treated as equals with no disadvantages. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
No cosmetics, hair nets. Precise working times. A few minutes to review work of messages and email. My job was in quality control inspecting products and occasionally additional assignments such as monitoring air quality and work stations, as well as a few other assignments.

While Ethicon offers competitive compensation and appealing perks, my experience with the management was far from satisfactory. The management team often spoke down to employees, particularly contractors, making them feel different and excluded. This lack of respect and sense of belonging created a challenging work environment.

Training was virtually non-existent, yet expectations were high, leading to confusion and misplaced blame. The lack of patience and support from management further exacerbated these issues.

Another significant concern is job security. Despite the good pay, the company has a tendency to outsource entire departments with little notice. Any change in leadership, such as a new CEO or manager, often results in massive reshuffling, adding to the instability.

In summary, while the compensation and perks at Ethicon are attractive, they may not be worth the high levels of stress and job insecurity. I would recommend seeking opportunities elsewhere for a more stable and supportive work environment.

Prepare all documentation and review in process inspection and dispositions, verify electronic documentation in DHR, make file and store official data, discard in process reference info. complete MES transactions and set the authorization for shipments. 

Complete the release process and send authorizations for shipments for different worldwide distribution centers. 

Prepare daily reports for staff management of materials, capacity planners, quality operations, automation, production managers, PQL and plant manager about the WIP, authorizations for shipments, NCR and general issues with quality and compliance of product. 
Prepare Certificate of Compliance COA to worldwide customers around the world. 
Provide support to all operations areas of the manufacturing production floor and give support in all quality issues.
