Originally so happy about this job, laid off 1/2 company without warning bc of leadership mismanagement of tens of millions of dollars. Teams are not fully staffed. Field  staff has to absorb those duties the work has more than doubled. Micromanaging is constant and aggressive. A quarterly bonus carrot is held in front of you to motivate you to meet the metrics. However, there are no adjustments in the amount of calls and Medicare screens to accommodate the time of the additional work duties. Metrics and productivity can change mid quarter so you get 20% of the bonus no matter how hard you work. You are held responsible for metrics that are completed by other employees which you have no control over “because it’s a team effort”. Better not to expect bonus at all. Everyday the length of patient calls is timed as are the minutes between calls, how many calls, total time on the phone. Leadership tells you every single day where you are pressuring and micromanaging you constantly, even if you work hard bc the job duties are impossible to fully complete daily. It has become v dog eat dog environment. They refuse to hire adequate staff, morale is very low. Days are full of soul crushing stress. Employee satisfaction dropped 46 points at their 2024 employee job / company evaluation. Ironically, new leadership is hired frequently though there is too much leadership. Town hall meetings are about management giving each other kudos and patting each other on the back for a great job done. They are completely out of touch with field staff satisfaction. Field staff carry the weight and bring in the money. This is absolutely not about helping patients in any way but about being profit makers for the company. Staff are walking out or quitting nationwide.  The division where I work has v little staff and 2 more left in a matter of a few weeks with staff planning to leave after January 1st when retention bonus clause expires. Don’t work here, save yourself.

We had a great team. Loved working with the physicians to manage their patients and my co-workers were very passionate. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It’s a start up company. Always worried about job security. They make a lot of changes which include laying off people as a result of eliminating their position. You’re not safe unless you have a friend in upper management. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s becoming more and more like micromanagement. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You are on Teams calls all day and still expected to do you work between calls. Some people feel the need to work after hours or on their weekend.

Evergreen Nephrology. is a true start up in the VBC space. Start-up companies have challenges that are unique, and most employees have not encountered before especially in traditional healthcare companies.  Change is occurring daily at times and not everyone can truly adjust to this type of environment even if they perceive themselves as adaptable.  VBC will change the way we do healthcare, and I am excited to work within this setting. Days can be long however the reward for me personally offsets the at times rigorous work week. Leadership listens to the staff and continuously looks to improve processes for satisfaction of the employees. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great team; passionate people; helping patients with chronic kidney disease 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Corporate doesn’t know what direction to go; corporate wanted to expand in Maryland and then laid off 11 employees, some 2 months after being hired.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Employees are very welcoming. Good orientation and training.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A lot of time spent driving between patient visits.

Joined a company I felt had potential to really make a difference. Quality outcomes never came up, always unclear if making money - there was not transparency in what's working or needs improvement. Seems Evergreen needed to prove a model then expand.  Major C suite turnover. No operating rigor. Unthoughtful to hire so many people than lay off. Some who literally just started. Poor planning all around.

This was like joining a start up without the benefit of being empowered, inspired nor a fun/excited team around you. 

Individual roles are not utilized to their full potential or even at all. Main focus is conducting health surveys and meeting metrics, not providing care for the patients. Specific market leadership and IDT team are wonderful and extremely supportive. Corporate leadership is a revolving door. Wrong people in leadership without the proper skills and experience. Ever-changing policies daily. 

This company is a startup, and they use this phrase quite often. They are not flexible. Things are constantly changing. There’s is no teamwork. Providers are managed by non-clinical managers who are often intimidated by provides bc they know more and are more educated. I would not recommend anyone working here. I don’t see the company lasting long.

Just after hiring 6 new employees Evergreen decided to lay off 10 employees due to “restructuring” in the market, including all of the newly hired employees. There is no job security with this company.  Promises of “growing markets” are empty talk. Stay away from this company!

While this is a start up company change is to be expected, however it is not well communicated especially with providers. Zero leadership to support providers. You are expected to cold call patients in attempt to get scheduled appointments.
