What is the best part of working at the company?
And my experience it was not a pleasant place to work at. they might have a new security team now hopefully they’re more professional.

Communication with other security guards, engineers employees

They were respectful for all cultures the business did a lot for their employees. in the main building set up was inspired by different lakes and forest trees as a theme for the names of the floors

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
it was very stressful for me. They had drills that they wanted you to complete. Sometimes you didn’t even know if it was real or just a drill.

Any benefits were out weighted by the negative culture/environment created by the CEO.

The culture if fear to created by the CEO and then carried down by senior management

The culture of the company is created by the CEO. He uses fear to motivate people. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting work done is very frustrating if you have other ideas than senior management.

Very quite typical day of data entry of accounts payables. I learned accounting system of Solomon. The first time I used Outlook.  The management is I think one of the nicest I have so far encountered because the Managers are very considerate. I have encountered some of the very helpful co-workers. The hardest but challenging part was when I was trained as a new employee.  The most enjoyable part was the printing of payable checks or check run, the photo-copying, and mailing.

New hire with different skill set.  Had to learn how to use computer program on my own.  Shown processes once and expected to grasp the concept immediately.  Presented with multiple tab Excel spreadsheets with layers of formulas.  I expected more structure in training and learning goals for the 1st month, 2nd month...but that was non-existent.  There was a lot of micromanagement and doesn't you with adequate tools to succeed.

The management is very poor at Exelixis. They cross the line often when it comes to Pharma Guidelines. Medical Affairs and sales work very closely together. Medical Affairs takes direction from sales. A lot of travel involved. Not organized in terms of management or objectives. No objectives stated.

Great location with great laboratory. Coworkers were the best of the company, everyone willing to help and learn from within. People work hard and make sure you maintain a good work-life balance. But this company has a history of cycling through people and inflating research department then letting bunch of employees go. 

Exelixis is expanding and trying to find its focus on the next drug. The company takes care of employee, and provides wellness holiday, winter break and good 401k match. R&D is experiencing growing pain and going thru team building for work efficiency. I like the company and recommend people to join.

Overall, there is a lot of room for advancement and management feels very supportive. People here will really take the time to train and teach you. Lots of improved & added benefits have been implemented since first working here, which is a huge plus. 


Excellent company with mission driven professionals who care about what they do. The facility in Alameda is awesome with a built in gym, spin classes, locker room/showers and upscale cafeteria.  They really spare no expense in making the facility nice for its employees. 

Bad management, loss of direction, massive recurring layoffs; egotistical "senior" management. Good workers, bad leaders.
