Managers are out of touch with clinical side of care.  Nursing managers don't like suggestions to make things better.   Doctors and  new grads can do no wrong.  Older nurses are discounted and expected to keep quiet about any injustices done to them.  Inconsistent policy enforcement, if they like you, they'll look the other way. If they don't, they will enforce a policy.  
Managers are afraid to back up their nurses and throw them under the bus if they question policies.
Great place to work if you're a robot.  Absolutely no empowerment for any employees.  
Management makes careless decisions, like hiring BSNs from out of the area who only stayed 6 months, long enough to get experience and then left...costing the hospital/community millions in orientation and replacement hire costs,  simultaneously rejecting ASN grads from Hocking College who are local and rooted in the community.
Staffing is always an issue. We worked short staffed frequently, putting patient care at risk.   High turnover rate.  I worked in the ICU and in one year most of the nurses who trained me are gone.  The ICU manager doesn't let the older experienced nurses precept the new nurses.  The young, new grads with little experience are assigned to train new hires.  
Administration is hierarchical in a siloed organization completely disconnected from their employees.

I was a student at Fairfield Medical Center in the radiology department in 2009. One of the benefits of being sent to different facilities is seeing how varied hospitals can be. This one showed me a lot of things that I did not want to be a part of. I was radiated on purpose by a member of their radiology staff because of a disagreement on how to image a 2 year old child. I insisted on using lead to protect the child, the tech removed it. I refused to expose until the child and mother was leaded. The tech gave up in frustration and told me to try. Upon approaching the child to calm her down, the technologist initiated an exposure while I was in the radiation field. The mother, child, and me were not shielded. The child hadn't been placed in a diagnostic position, she just took the exposure to teach me a lesson. Management beraded me for disagreeing with the technologist in the first place and brushed the incident under the rug, and the image was deleted so it couldn't be found.

Be very wary of practicing in this environment. There is little to no security. Very volatile work environment even among back-talking technologists.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The community aspect with the organization. I've made many friends in a relatively short amount of time. Many people genuinely care to help as they're able to, and care for your wellbeing.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of knowing what's expected. Many things are done last minute without proper proactiveness and collaboration with other existing issues and projects. Constant changes in overall job role with more and more expected over time that goes outside the scope of the role hired for without any extra incentive. Lack of sufficient staffing to handle the demand in workflow and lack of proper cross training when out of office.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is mostly well, with a tightknit community. Lots of friendly teasing and joking. Most other co workers don't like to take things too seriously and try to be positive, but at times there can be blunt demand for things to be done a certain way, or for others to not want to take the initiative when issues require more experienced co workers to assist.

•Typical work day 
Attend a head count, Get cart ready, grab a pod and a route sheet. Get TOLD not ASKED to carry other coworkers jobs plus your own work. Complete rooms, get dirty looks from nursing staff, hear patient get neglected, hear them screaming and cussing out staff. Go to basement to clock out.

Never trust management nor HR

Don't trust them, they seem nice, caring and like they are on your side, but they talk about you and your circumstances with other employees, make fun of you when you're not present and belittle you behind your back. They also are narcissistic gas lighters.
• Work place culture 
Employees lie to make themselves look better/superior. 
Administration thinks they can give you a candy bar to make you want to work there. A measly $50 TAXED holiday bonus and they say "you make enough money". 
•Hardest part of the job 
Everything, it's a tough job to handle, you have to have a strong stomach and a sharp mind. You also have to have thick skin to work here. 

You will leave crying like you're in middle school. If the people who train you don't want to they will tell you that repeatedly. You walk on eggshells because management has created an enviroment you don't feel comfortable going to them. The people who bully you will go to management about you so if you tell on them they don't get in trouble. I never thought I would use the term mean girls but that's exactly what it is. You will get told to answer call lights if you're free even if they aren't your patients. But nobody will answer your call lights when your busy and patients go unanswered. Some aides get mad and yell at you for touching their patients and would rather patients go unanswered because they'd rather a patient wait for them as opposed to another aide helping. You won't be trained on charting appropriately and will learn more in 4 hrs from a stranger from another floor then you will learn from the people who are supposed to train you. 

I feel like there is a serious lack of communication between coworkers, managers, and HR. HR does not respond to any email ever or what you're emailing them about unless you email them 15 times on the same topic and even then sometimes you don't hear back. Same thing if you call and leave a message they will not return your phone call.  It's as though you don't even exist. They say that they're going to do something and then they don't do it. They give you false hope about the future and what is going to happen. What you were told in your interview is not at all what it's like when you're actually there and what they promise you in your interview is not what you get when you start working there.  It's a constant "runaround" type of situation.  I do however  have a great group of coworkers.

The environment at FMC continues to get better and better.  The co-workers help and support one another.  Upper management listens to the suggestions and concerns from their employees.  I work in the Emergency Department most of the time and there is a great sense of team work that includes all the departments.  It is obvious that people care about the patients and they do their best to support one another in their particular role.  

It is great to walk down the hall and see staff being courteous to one another and helpful to any visitor or patient.  

This is a great place to be trained and advance in any career goals that a person would desire.

I worked specifically in surgery, and the staffing is horrific and ignored. Staff is often expected to stay late when not on call, and expected to take call sometimes multiple shifts a week, including the expectation to cover labor and delivery. The worst of it all, there seems to be no plan to lift themselves out of this situation. Management seems to easily brush concerns aside because almost none of them take any call themselves, even in times of dire need. Lunches and breaks cannot be expected, but they are automatically taken out of your time cards. While the staff around you feels like family, either the management or the company itself does not create an environment to grow a successful or happy career.

Get ready for the worst management you've ever dealt with. The doctors are great. Coworkers are great. Anyone in management probably got the job because of nepotism it's absolutely awful in this place and they don't ever go against what the management says so if the manager doesn't like you, it's over for you even if and another Office it's not a fireable offense or people don't get written up for it. If your manager doesn't like you they'll find any reason they can to get rid of you and they allow it there. Late for one or two minutes three times?? Even though you work over, ten times? Too bad. It's a write up. Just because someone has been there for years doesn't mean they're deserving of a leadership position!!! 

It is a busy environment with many days of being short staffed.  I have learned a large portion of nutrition information pertaining to patients.  The management team of my department has been very unbalanced and needs some serious review.  I think that it would be best to hire within in order to eliminate the issue of management not having an understanding of what those within their department do.  The hardest part of the job is working short on a regular basis with no real support from management team.  The most enjoyable part of working for this organization are the people that are worked with on a daily basis.
