The full time staff at FCSA, and specifically in the data neighborhood, are extremely intelligent and helpful. It's a great place to learn and feel supported in your journey to become a better data professional. Even when they're busy (which they always are), your teammates will find a way to make the time to answer your questions and help you grow.

The FCSA leaders value their company culture over all things, and part of that culture is being nice. It's a reason many people like working there, but also a reason to be wary. Play nice, and be careful in being too direct and to the point in your messages. 

Besides that, the major caveat is that contractors need to remember that you're always replaceable. They can cancel your contract without any notice for whatever reason they see fit, without so much as a "goodbye, thanks for your hard work." They will pick a nice person over a hard working and technically capable person if they find that the latter does not fit the culture. Do not forget that you're just a contractor to them. They will not tolerate communication related frustrations with contractors (they're more lenient about technical frustrations, but even that has its limit). There are also not many full time positions to transition to, despite them always saying the goal is to "change that badge from contractor to full time!"

If you can get past that, and can fit that type of culture, then you're honestly in great hands. There are few better places to learn and grow if you're a young data professional.

Overall the associate is wonderful. A culture and values that are great to live by professionally and personally. The CEO and ELT are wonderful leaders and really care and value each person. During tough times they went above and beyond to help, support, and encourage the employees. I would recommend working at corporate or any other region.
I really gained a strong connection with my teammates and they are exceptional people to work with. Most days I could not get by with out them. Leaving the company, peers, and customers was very tough. However, I left because the current work environment was very unhealthy and negative. Its a shame that the culture and values are not matched in all local offices. I didn't just have personal experience to the negativity but I witnessed it being directed my peers. 
The first impression was wonderful and I was really pumped, but a month in I wanted to quit, but was convinced to stay. Please use caution when interviewing and pursing this. Its a wonderful company and your peers will be great, but regional leadership (management) can use some improvement and office moral could be increased. I wish you the absolute best you wont regret the company, but I would NEVER go back to the region I left. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working for the farmer and rancher customer/owners. Really high quality people!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of complete written procedures with frequent changes in policy or organization with little advance notice. Working outside of Omaha headquarters means frequent insufficient staffing and unequal access to training or other professional opportunities. Working outside Omaha offers minimal or no opportunity for advancement. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Insincere. Promotes diversity yet any dissent, disagreement or difference from the majority is looked down upon. Numerous women of varying positions and tenure feel they are held back based on gender. Men are more likely to be hired into the company and promoted to leadership.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 8, prioritize existing and new workflow, answer the phone throughout the day.

I liked the people I worked with until they brought in a new outside hire to run our department. There were several internal candidates who would've been a perfect fit for the leadership role and all of them were informed that they weren't even going to be interviewed. 

I knew the outside hire from a previous employer and expressed my concerns prior to her start date. These concerns were not kept in confidence and instead shared with my new boss's boss. Almost immediately I went from perfect ratings and bonuses to being put on a PIP and having salary taken away.

Also - they will promote the same person 4 times in a year, but unless you're one of the chosen few, advancement is almost impossible.

The clients have various businesses and are very interesting to talk with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There are certain people that were not very pleasant to work with.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was tense during tax season. Otherwise conditions at work place were professional and people worked well together.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work day began at 8 a.m. There were usually a few meetings during the week. The job required a lot of time at the computer. There was a half hour allowed for lunch. End of workday was around 5 p.m.

Farm Credit West and Northwest Farm Credit have an amazing mission and incredible strategy of finding and keeping talented people to make the organization successful.  I have learned the benefits of teamwork, communication, attention to detail and experiencing new ideas to solve difficult problems that will benefit our clients and communities.  

I enjoy funding the farmers that feed the world and feel accomplished and important in my role in today's society to meet the needs of our population.  I am finding it very difficult to leave the organization and wish for anyone that thinks of working with Farm Credit to realize that it is a lifelong career and not just a job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Work/family life balance - remote work available, the culture of the organization is awesome and caring for its employees , customers and the communities we serve. I worked there for 30 years and loved it!


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The learning curve with continously changing new technology.  It benefits us all so as it is necessary!

I believe I already answered that but I would add very good pay and benefits.

Very nice office, they offer lunches for associates occasionally

Trying to figure out what is expected of me.  Very little direction

Work environment and culture was the big thing that attracted me.  Unfortunately, the tax department does not practice the culture initiative

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go in the office. Work alone all day. Go home

The people are friendly and fun. The atmosphere is light and not stuffy. The schedules are flexible and this company really knows how to treat their employees. However, the team I work on needs better organization and procedures to make working here easier to learn the day to day job duties. I felt kind of "thrown into" my position. 

If it wasn't for the great people and genuine care for other employees I probably would have already left.

My first accounting job fresh out of accounting school. I would probably still be there if the main office had not been moved to southern Minnesota. I was able to back up all the cashiers in the branches as well as the IT person who ran the daily reports, the Accounts Payable person and the Accounting Officer. The importance of cross training was a big part of my time there and I loved it.
