I loved my work in the technical field at the Fed. Great opportunities available to move up in the company.  Management can make or break you here. Good management is one important key to success. I found that the most narcissistic, micro managers got promoted the most often and seemingly very quickly, here. That was a downside of working at FRB, but narcissistic people are everywhere, so  I guess this isn’t too unique of a problem. The training is wonderful and I felt I was paid well for the job I had. However, I was cycled through 4 managers in two years and I felt the handling of my reviews/promotions through 4 managers was disappointing.  Sometimes I was not recognized for the work I did all year. They would have you write up a file of things you did all year to show them at the end of the year, but would already have your bonus calculated without even asking to see your file. Makes you feel like the work you did wasn’t accurately recognized.

I worked there in the law enforcement division and the culture was toxic. Management treated their law enforcement officers like security guards and tightly controlled all aspects of their work. No officer was allowed to think for themselves or exercise any discretion. The Sgt were tightly wound control freaks and would watch you on camera and come after you. If you are desperate for experience as a law enforcement officer before getting a real cop job this is the place for you. You will get a chance to deal with political garbage that will come with a real cop job and will get some decent training. 
There was absolutely no room for advancement unless you were friends with the management. 

The Federal Reserve offers exposure to a cutting-edge tech stack and is notably ahead of other departments in terms of technology adoption. However, career development opportunities are limited, and navigating internal politics can be challenging. Many employees feel overworked without adequate support, and upper management often seems unresponsive to concerns from lower levels. While the technical environment is innovative, the organizational culture could benefit from more attention to employee development and work-life balance.

The Minneapolis Fed LE Division is treated poorly by the bank and all of its executives. Due to negative survey results from within the recent years instead of trying to fix the problems within leadership they would rather get rid of the entire department and go with contracted security. The bank is currently is also in the process of laying off 10% of its work force. Do NOT APPLY HERE!!!!

Openesses to discuss issues. Easy to connect with people in other areas to learn about what they do on an informal basis. Benefits are second to none per my experience.

It is very difficult to change anything here so you have to have patience and understanding of this right away.  But management doesn't even allow an idea to pass them.  Immediate shutdown.  The air in the tiny cubes is stifling and the days are very long.

Great pay and benefits. Slow to change. Very traditional Culture wise. They are trying to do some work with diversity and inclusion, a lot of talk and less implementation. Networking and knowing the right people os key to landing new opportunities. 

Collegial.  Hardest part of the job is balancing expectations vs reality.  Most enjoyable part of the job was my opportunity to interact with people all over the bank.  Best lunchroom in downtown; wall to floor windows over-looking Mississippi River.

The Federal Reserve is a wonderful place to work at, the environment is very welcoming friendly. The good thing to work at this job is the great benefits that comes along with the job.
