When I first applied at FSL, I was beyond excited at the possibility of working for such a great organization like Feeding America. I quickly realized that working at Feeding South Florida's Pembroke Park location could only be described as a nightmare. The co-workers I had were a pleasure to be around but the management at this place was horrible. I noticed almost right away that there was a high turnover of employees at Feeding South Florida, so much so that it's shocking. Many people that were new hires, would either quit or be fired within the same month, or sometimes even within the same week. Please realize that when you work here, it's NOT the quality of your work that will be recognized but how many "friends" you can make. It's a popularity contest more than a job. The only positives, are that the facility is beautiful and the services they provide to the community are necessary and invaluable. In my opinion, the management at this place is not equiped or properly trained to deal with employees in a professional manner. You will form a great comradery with your co-workers though because you soon realize that this place operates on a "you" against "them" (Management) mentality. There are also alot of personal conflicts between managers, supervisors and staff within the facility which is extrememly unprofessional and creates alot of tension. I just graduated from college and was on Indeed.com looking for a job in my field when I came across this job posting. I decided to leave this comment as a warning to others, please consider ALL other options before applying here.

Cons:
Under appreciated. 
Lack of connect and communication across departments/ lack of understanding of company operations. Higher management is clueless on what each department does and it shows when they keep highlighting the same departments that bring more profit. Even HR doesn’t understand all job roles. Training=thrown to the wolves for the most part. Work culture is lacking which contributes to low morale especially on some departments over others. Work space and equipment not up to date. Parking is not good. Some managers are less flexible and accommodating than others. 

Pros:
Department manager was very knowledgeable. Benefits are improving and good for the most part (PTO on birthday, etc.) and some employee engagement initiatives were cool like holiday parties. Hard working staff and a lot of nice colleagues to work alongside. Performance reviews and SOPS are good. Clear KPIs. Located near a Wawa.

Had an interview scheduled and asked if it was possible to push back the time due to an earlier appointment unexpectedly running over. 
Having worked as a Director of Human Resources for 21 years, I understand the importance of the employer - employee relationship and the people aspect of the business.
While it is important to keep scheduled appointments, there are those occasions when life happens, traffic accidents, illness or other scenarios out of ones control can cause a delay or a need to reschedule. 
Based on my experience and reading reviews from past and current employees, I am certain this environment is not only toxic, but one that creates a separation between employer - employee rather than camaraderie.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The relation ship I had with the staff and coworkers... the way the organization is well set up and the benefits that  was offered by the company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My position was to be incharge of the cleaning of the warehouse... most of the time I would have to get this done by my self.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Inside the warehouse was bussy most of the time.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start the shift very early in the morning...making sure the outside is clear of debris and garbage...trew away spoil food and/or products... sweep floor insidethe warehouse and at the end of the day scrub the floor with the scruber machine.

It's a feel-good place to work, as the company provides food and other staples to the less-fortunate members of the South Florida community through a network of partner agencies. Not a place to work if you're in it for the money; the people there are in it for their heart to serve, but it's great to get paid for doing what you love! They have a comprehensive benefits package. The hardest part of the job is the long days and that no matter how we grow, the need in the community grows faster. The most enjoyable part of the day is the smiles and the gratitude on the faces of the families receiving much needed life staples.

The Food Bank was a fulfilling place to work. I left Partner Services for about 2 years to open & operate Feeding South Florida's SNAP Program, but missed the daily 'chaos' of the Pantry window and all of the volunteers from the various agencies. Every day was 'hit the ground running' and keep up the pace until leaving each evening. The day flew by! To know how many people the food was reaching was the hook which kept me for 7 years until a new administration came aboard and decided to try a different approach; and my department was eliminated.

Please read and heed all the comments! Stay away.  Employees are viewed as disposable by management and the condescending and disrespectful manner they treat people is shameful. There is so much potential, but this organization will never thrive with the toxic leadership. Such a great cause, but management has created such chaos, disorganization, and fear that all good intentions are lost—along with valuable funds. Leading by intimidation only ends in high turnover and a very toxic environment. 

This place is a bit unorganized at times, but keep in mind, it is a non profit. They do their best to keep employees happy and try to accommodate to their needs while keeping a good work ethic. Your work may feel unappreciated at times, but remember you are helping a good cause. It is definitely a unique place to work and unlike any other “warehouse”. The pay and benefits outweigh the negatives. The Management means well and are very caring, despite the disorganization.

Nothing really peace of mind and working at your own pace but going the JOB done, within a imp mount of time ....

Everyone is a team player and multiple backgrounds working there.... Different Cultures
