Be careful. Ask your colleagues, consult former employees or even current employees such as myself before applying here. Many former attorneys, paralegals and clerks and secretaries in the Omaha area (and even in the nation) probably believe that any position at this company is not at all promising. If you experience any face-to-face interviews, you may be promised more than is really offered. Many employees were repeatedly told that three years ago, this company employed over 120 attorneys and 50 staff as a stable workforce. But in reality these numbers quickly dwindled since then. Probably only 30 of these original attorneys remain today, and even less staff employees. Many of the others were laid off or through attrition sought other positions in the legal field after working at this company for awhile. Even the company’s highest management positions suffered annual lay offs. I am not even sure how I have maintained my position here. Although they may have over 100 attorneys today and about 40 in staff, those numbers are deceptive. The truth is that favoritism, glass ceilings, and false promises run rampant at this work environment. Job stability is not guaranteed, but rather the term “job security” is used as an oppressive tool and constantly threatened upon employees of all levels. Probably less than 30 employees are over 40 years old. You may ask why they have continued to hire in the last 2 and 3 years? The popular opinion and the reputation of this company in Omaha clearly will show that this company phases out employees after they reach a tenure of 1 or more years. There are just as many former employees that have been laid off, fired or found new jobs that have been hired in the last 3 years. That number is probably well over 100. This is the truth. But for the company’s sake, they may erase this job posting only to delete this entire review. That is why this job posting repeatedly appears every 1-5 days.

Working here excited me at first, I thought I found the job I would retire from. I worked here for over 2 years. I created social medial accounts to promote our office and even brought in more work for us. I loved my job and was in it for the long haul even studying to get my LPO so I was more accountable for my work, but I did not like that upper management don't really care about their employee's who are loyal or their unrealistic expectations and stress they caused. If your not managements "friend" outside of work they could care less about you. You are over worked with no approved OT but still expected to get it all done. I know many employee's who worked many, many hours off the clock and was never compensated or even given a thank you for their time (not just in my office). As I thought this would be the company I retired from, instead I was verbally and physically assulted more than once by another employee and was told by upper management to "hang in there" it will get better. I begged for more to learn with the promise of more. Just to be laid off, while they kept someone who had been there less then me who they also had to train to even do my job. I know the real reason I was "laid off" was because I finally had a voice and spoke up for the way people in our office are mistreated and also I stood up for myself and the office manager. They don't care about loyal employees who give there all just their own pocket book while they flaunt their suite for hockey games and other events. I think your loyal employees would much rather have job stability then a suite. They said they would hold my information for if it picked up again but I'm not holding my breath as management was so cold when letting me know I was laid off, I know they don't care for actual loyal employee's. Sad day when I thought so highly of a company to now thinking a lot differently about them. 

I love working for this company. Staff here are very nice but has a high volume busy work repetitive assignments in which I love. The Manager I had, she was very sweet to me but when it came for me to acknowledge my problems I had with my supervisor; she acted very unfairly like she didn't care or have any concern to my problems when I try to explain myself on his wrong teaching of a new billing assignments given by him on word of mouth. My job here was only to close claims for the claims and litigation department and be a relief receptionist. I felt I was highly blackmailed by the wrong duties that my supervisor has given to me on billing cause I couldn't prove anything due to that cause it was only given the instructions by his word of mouth and not by documents procedure written out by him. In this company I love my job here. I was extremely fast and knowledgeable on closing high volume claims files in the many boxes given to me on a daily basis. I felt the supervisor blackmailed me cause he could not keep up his job to overlook all of my work that I've given back to him on a daily basis to find if there was anything needed to be billed at the last minute. So he taught me his procedure the wrong way on word by mouth where I found out later I was doing it all wrong for one week term and was let go by the manager of his wrong teachings which he specifies to me it was a new advancement job procedure since I was very good and quick in performing my original assignments on closing claims for the company. The hardiest part of my job was to find out that my manager believes the supervisor over me only due to he has been there a bit longer then I was.

I worked for Fidelity in Pennsylvania for 18 years, most of that time as a title searcher.  Since about 2012, there was next to no training provided on new technologies or searcher resources.

On multiple occasions, the search team was informed that the managers above us were trying to save money by going with a national search vendor platform that promised it could handle a title search in any county and state within two days, for a fraction of what we were paid.  We had to prove time and time again that our work was more competent.

The company finally started outsourcing search work overseas for enough of a savings that they stopped caring about quality.  In the meantime, they restructured our pay schedule to remove our bonuses, saying that we could make it up with overtime -- and then eliminated the overtime.

The overtime did return, if only because they began eliminating searcher jobs and forcing the other searchers to start covering the gaps.  The entire search unit in Allegheny County seems to have vanished, and people who don't know the area were very hastily "trained" to handle it.

We had turnover of multiple managers while I was there.  The most recent one does not defend or protect his team at all.  In the 18 years I was at Fidelity, I got a pay raise once, and it was explicitly so that I wouldn't leave my role.

If you're looking for a searcher job in the title insurance industry, look elsewhere.  Fidelity will not treat you well and will force you to accept inferior work, and they they will lay you off.

This Job was a very fast past, high demand job. required great people skills, as you worked with attorneys, in that required great patience. It was very rewarding as you got a huge, Christmas Bonus, that ranged from two thousand to eight thousand. on the higher end if your office did well, and there were some years, that we receive a high mid-term bonus. It was long a hard work, but it was competitive, to me fun, cause I knew the more I produced, the rewards were going to be there, and you well compensated. The only nice thing, it was a team effort, it was how the overall office produced and wasn't individualized. I felt this promoted team unity, that if you were having a issue or problem on a file, that everyone was willing to help, so you can get things done, if you didn't know something, they took time to teach you. You felt like it was a family environment, everybody working and helping to achieve a high rate of success, cause there no greater motivation, then getting a extra check for nice sum of money, on top of you paycheck. You wanted to work. the people were great and enjoyed the experience very much.

Every day I would come in and call banks or credit unions where the client had home mortgages through and would request the payoff. Once the payoff came in on our e-fax I would go in and save it to the file and disperse it however the title company wanted us to. We ordered payoffs for different title companies. Eventually I worked my way up to train new people on how to order payoffs and then I was taught how to start the Open Up process. 

My co-workers were awesome. I knew that if I had a problem I could ask them and they would be able to help me. They were great to get along with and I was always there to help them if they needed it.

The hardest part of the job was calling institutions for payoffs and they would give me the runaround as to why the payoff wasn't in our fax yet. I would have to keep calling them to make sure they were keeping up on it since we were on a time schedule.

The most enjoyable part of my job was pretty much everything. I was glad to find a position where I didn't dread going in to work every day. When I got something done ahead of schedule or faster than what was expected I was glad for the recognition.

I am an early riser and often got into the office early to get my work day in order, have a cup of coffee and just get a few things done and out of the way before the office began to buzz.  I really work great under pressure and enjoyed getting new orders especially if we were just starting out working with a new agent or attorney's office.  I enjoy getting new customers and helping them to the best of my ability and developing an enjoyable working relationship with new clients.  I enjoy learning new procedures and information that will benefit the department and the staff.  I feel like I learn a little bit each day, whether it is an idea from one of the team or if it is an e-mail with new procedures or instructions from upper management.  Just being around people all day gives me a great opportunity to learn a little each and every day.  The hardest part of management for me is having to let an employee go whether it is a layoff or for cause.  I know that anytime a person is without a job it not only affects them but their family as well.  It is a difficult but necessary part of a manager's duties.

While pay is better then most title companies in michigan, and even for a raise after a year, the stress  it's just not worth it.  They wanted quality work at quantity levels not caring that some had multiple parcels with messed up title interests. When i started it seemed like our company had a great connection with other companies and we really shared start policies,  by the end we had 2 we could get them from and we seemed to be losing those connections due to the way higher ups treated them. Reached out to manager and took hours to hear back about anything i asked, but if i didnt respond immediately there was trouble.  Had a couple difficult files reached out for help, made a few mistakes learned from them fixed them....got put on a performance review. Met or exceeded all their expectations on said performance review....got laid off then terminated along with 3 others, out of the blue. Trying to work with hr to get necessary docs for unemployment was a nightmare. Was told multiple times they would send boxes for their computer monitors and that never happened. They are still in my closet after almost a year... still waiting on my w2 as well.

Typical Day: Daily team meetings of goals and employee event calendaring. Weekly department goal meetings. Fun, family friendly, environment, that allowed enjoyable balance of work responsibilities and parental responsibilities.

What I Learned: In depth California guidelines on title clearance for HUD/ VA foreclosure loans. Oklahoma foreclosure timelines, title clearance, and conveyance procedures for HUD/ VA loans.

Management: Great management. One of the best bosses I have ever worked for. Everything was prioritized and organized to effectively maintain and maximize employee to file ratio.

Co-workers: All of the co-workers worked extremely well together. This office was the true definition of team work, and department responsibility as a whole.

Hardest Part of the Job: Escalated VA files that accrued curtailments regarding unresolved title issues that prevented a timely conveyance.

Most Enjoyable Part of the Job: Going to work everyday to a wonderful staff. Knowing help is available and management is always looking to assist in resolving file issues.

I was the front desk clerk. I open, and close the office I great clients, answer phone, set appointments, open new escrow orders, and provide support around the office. I learned how to put escrow packages together and a lot of what is involved with escrow. Management is great and really care for the employees, every year if the company meats a certain goal they give the whole company a trip and get to bring a guest along. We got to go to San Francisco, they paid for the flight, and hotel, had a $500 visa gift card to spend at check in it was a great, and enjoyable trip. Co-workers are really nice and get along well like family they communicate very well and get the job done proficiently. The hardest part of the job was trying to get the financial institutions to get the proper documentation requested for the escrow package process on time to get the closing done proficiently. The whole day was really enjoyable, the office manager would by lunch for us every day from where ever we wanted and got us Starbuck in the mornings.
